I deleted logic and re installed it & that’s how I got the update. Hope this helps for someone

Hi! But can I connect an external sound card, attach 3 microphones and record on Logic with the iPad? I wanted a device that wasn't too big where I could record the Drummer 😅

As long as the audio interface you’re attaching is class compliant (doesn’t require any extra drivers) then yes, absolutely👍

I see Logic P2.1 suffers in performance on A14 chip, unless one is orchestrating quick loops (e.g. rap) is not worth the subscription, one really needs to have M series (and at that rated all Ms would have to be tested). I cannot afford an M iPad, but will stick to small loops. I go back to the days of analog tape reels, we still have come a long way.

There are better sounding reverbs out there, but it's definitely a great reverb to have in Logic as stock!

It's a wonderful sounding reverb. My issue is the UI. Why not take this another step and provide users with a 3D graphical representation of rooms at their relative scale and allow us to quickly resize the virtual room to our liking, Apple? I think the UI could use a complete reimagining. Drop down menus are a real waste of time when you're trying to quickly evaluate options.

You could use Smart Controls to break out the UI controls and configure them to your liking (within the given layout presets). Moreover, they can be mapped to external MIDI controls.

You can rearrange the channel strips. Apparently this was long-awaited. I know nothing, being solidly GarageBand. But, i saw it elsewhere, and it seems an obvious requirement on a ‘grown-up’ DAW. Take care all…BTW, u know there’s an app called Final Cut Camera, that enables multiple devices to shoot at once? Gotta be Apple Silicon if it’s an ipad though, and an omission is 50fps for European video standard apparently.

I haven't found a way to hide tracks in Logic for the iPad. Searching around indicates there isn't one!

Full functionality of plugins now? Just like on the Mac? (See the needle in the compressor? Full patch building, oscillators etc in Alchemy?) Flex pitch? Multi track in phase live drum recording editing? Are the tons of missing features being added in?

If you’re looking for 100% feature parity between the Mac and iPad versions you’ll probably be waiting a while. If all of that stuff you mentioned is absolutely essential to you and your music production workflow, I’d highly recommend just buying a Mac and Logic Pro honestly.

@ Thank you for the reply. I have Logic on my M1 Air and it is fantastic. I am just waiting for the day i can do all those things on the couch on a touch surface. I just built a killer patch in Alchemy (Vangelis inspired). It feels like the iPad version of Alchemy is about 90% less experience. And we are talking about only ONE plugin in Logic. Hope Apple can either bring parity or develop a hybrid MacOS version in the future. I won't buy a Mac anymore if that happens. Maybe that is what Apple is afraid of.

I am sorry to say, but there is a major and inexcusable error in your comparison: Pure Piano and Ravenscroft are MONO in your recording, whereas Logic Piano is STEREO. Shocking that you did not notice this yourself, and quite misleading. It makes your comparison useless.

Fantastic. Thanks! FYI - It appears that Logic Pro stores the sample with the project. I tried adding some sounds to a drumkit from sample folder, deleting the sample folder, and then deleting the original folder from Files, and the samples still played.

The 2.1 update? It’s still compatible with all iPads as the previous version, you do need to be running iOS 18 though.

In the App Store, search for Logic Pro for iPad and the update button should be next to its name on the results page. You’ll need to update your iPad to iOS 18 first too.

"Quality of life" improvement, indeed! Thanks for the excellent demo. I have a sample folder that's been on my iPad Pro for awhile, so looking forward to playing around with this. Still waiting for the importing of EXS/Sampler instruments, but this way of dealing with samples is no small thing. Appreciate the info, Patrick!

From Garageband, I've wanted to move to LPro on the M4 Chip. My hardware is M1 vintage with limited storage. You make an interesting case for a new Ipad solution. A learning step on my way to a future Mac platform. Patrick, Your information is top-notch and always entertaining.

Flip i forgot one more thing- stereo mic sound from the ipad can now be done so we don’t have to stick to a flat mono source. In the settings where the mic options are.
