1:42:17 Im surprised you don't have passageway recipes saved so you can start directly from just beyond the winding pathways. I guess your recipe book was pretty cluttered even without them? XD
@Rhapsody116
@Rhapsody116 7 сағат бұрын
I tried saving some directional recipes, but they didn't fit my playstyle very well. If I'm making a new recipe, I like to start from scratch. Since my starting path is always slightly different, there is no way to really make passageway recipes, unfortunately. And lol, my recipe book is full, but I wouldn't call it cluttered. It's very organized other than the recipe in progress section on the bottom of the left page, which I haven't cleaned out since one of my previous videos. At some point, I should change my book to fit with the new update, though. I don't need my previous alchemy system anymore if the release notes are to be believed.

1:30:30 I guess another of those differences. When customers want certain types of multi effect potion i give em the ones for void salt/philosopher's stone/etc I don't have to care much about the ingredient expense, and its a revipe id have anyways....itd just save me so much trouble to give out those instead of trying to have 10 or 20 different recipes... But back then youd have to care, wouldn't you?
@Rhapsody116
@Rhapsody116 2 күн бұрын
Honestly, once you got to a certain point in the old version, you didn't have to worry about the expense because the merchants came by often enough, and that point came pretty quickly. We all just like to try and make potions efficient for the challenge, lol. But the type of efficiency depends on the type of challenge each player sought out, e.g., highlander vs. lowlander. I hate doing the multiple effects orders, though, so I just give them my salt potions. But my salt potion recipes were from my early game days, so they are very inefficient

13:42 No kidding! Its sooooo nice to just plop it in the cauldron unground or zip more upwards... but i can ALSO imagine being chronically out of it pre big garden update! We new players are practically spoiled rotten by it huh? XD ...its weirdly harder to use it as the last step for getting magical vision 3 than to use shadow chanreelle to get up in there (especiallyif you are also snagging agility), but it was sooo satisfying when i finally pulled off magical vision three with 2 tangle weeds and 2 thunder thistle.
@Rhapsody116

@fractalgem it's great to hear the game's community is still growing! Your comment made me realize just how different a newcomer's potion craft experience will be, for some reason it didn't really sink in until now that many people will only ever experience the game as the 2.0 version lol. I should definitely start using thunder thistle again, although I get what you mean about it being more difficult. Probably because the straight lines don't really work well with the organic shapes of the death fields in that area. When straight diagonal lines are more appropriate though, I usually prefer boom bloom over thunder thistle if I have the starting space. Nice recipe btw, it's great when a challenging path comes together. Do you think it is better or worse that there is less of an initial struggle to survive?
@fractalgem
@fractalgem 2 күн бұрын
@Rhapsody116 its more that the straight line is TOO perfectly aligned with the lighting effect, so if your positioning is even a leeeeeettle bit off, no tier 3 for you unless you spend another ingredient. Maybe ill try starting a short run where i don't harvest from the garden after the tutorial, see if i can get to the alchemy machine upgrade. That should be pretty close to how things used to be right? Im not sure. It seems to discourage engaging in what was a huge portion of the game, but a lot of people may not be interested in juggling the prices of 50 ish different ingredients and would rather focus on navigating the map.
@Rhapsody116
@Rhapsody116 2 күн бұрын
@fractalgem that makes sense, I can understand why it is so satisfying when it works correctly! That would be interesting to see! It would be similar, although we did get a random collection of ingredients from the gardens every day. Never crystals, but the basic mushrooms and herbs. I'm guessing both ways of playing have pros and cons, but I'm glad that with the update, the garden stays relevant now

Thanks! I love having opportunities to use phantom skirts in a recipe. It's like what you described with the thunder thistles, so satisfying. If you like it here you should check out the other video I use it in...although now I don't remember if I actually recorded that recipe...anywho, if I ever need multiple effect for either flight or invisibility (I forgot which one) there is a really great trick using phantom skirt and it's so fun to do. Well, depending on your definition of fun. Do you enjoy wanting to cry and tear your hair out at the same time? Bashing your head against a wall? I'll check on that recipe and see if I have it recorded next time I play.

The swamp halves the distance that you go along the path - so if you have a path that will be fully influenced by oil up to a certain point, you can halve the distance between your starting point and your exit point and the place where the path takes you will be exactly in the middle - that way you can approximate where you go better
@dawiddulian2403
@dawiddulian2403 2 ай бұрын
For example at 18:30 your starting point is at the center of a bottle, and your 'end point' is almost directly below that; you can approximately tell that when you reach the point on the path that we called 'end point', you will actually end up directly in the middle between your starting point and the shown exit from the swamp (between 18:34 and 18:35) - and you won't be able to reach the T3 effect. It saved my potion many times when I did something on the oil, and it really helps with your pathing - I hope it will help you as well!
@dawiddulian2403
@dawiddulian2403 2 ай бұрын
It's also shown much much better at 20:18 and 20:24 - you start at the potion and 'exit' before the last long horizontal part and you end up directly in the middle (with the last horizontal part to go further left)

Love this recipe. Thanks for your great videos! If you want to single ingredient it, try 3x Moss Shrooms (50%) + Moss Shroom (100%) + 9 Stirs, 5 Water + Moss Shroom (100%). This is, of course, rather expensive. If you want to go budget friendly (but resource intensive) you can go 3x Waterbloom (100%) + Lifeleaf (100%) + Waterbloom (100%) + Lifeleaf (100%).

If you want to do it 10.5% cheaper, try the following: Icefruit (84%) - stop when X reaches second dash Watercap (83%) - stop before it reverses Shadow Chanterelle (97%) You don't even need to add water if you grind to those exact lengths. You can get away with grinding the Icefruit up to about 87%, maybe even 90%. You'll have to compensate by extra grinding on the Watercap (so that the S.C. comes back down low enough). You can only compensate so much though before your S.C. isn't going far enough to the right, though, so be careful.

Also also, the discord has a media channel where people can promote their videos on Potion Craft; it does have some dedicated optimization threads as well but the server itself is much less optimization-centered than I thought, people there are mainly fellow game lovers hanging out (also also also, the gardening & wine map update is estimated for december this year)

Oh wow, that's strange, I have comment moderation turned off for that video. Thanks for going through that trouble! I'm glad to hear you joined the Discord! It's such a great resource, and it's fun to talk with others who play the game. And yeah, I guess the problem with posting a video about the prices of ingredients when the prices change based on certain upgrades is that they will be wrong for a lot of people. I should probably go through them again to make sure the prices haven't changed from a patch or something like that, too, lol. I'll double-check the ones you mentioned to make sure I record the numbers correctly from the merchants
