What threads fit the crankcase drain on this model? Thinking about doing this mod to my 337. Thanks!
@MikeDPlxztcАй бұрын
Oh sorry I watched again I see that you did use the drain hose I guess without the drain hose you would have to take the big plate off and maybe you could just remove the entire plug mechanism from the oil pan? Oh so you did say 30 weight oil so I am assuming that means just a straight SAE 30 weight?
@ShopworxАй бұрын
As far as the engine oil goes I'm pretty sure it's a 10-30w diesel rated oil I'm running.
@MikeDPlxztcАй бұрын
@@Shopworx thanks, that's good news as straight 30 is kind of hard to find
@MikeDPlxztcАй бұрын
Thanks for the video this is going to be a great help to me👍 I have to do this job out in the field in a couple days. couple questions though. why not take the whole larger under plate off seems like it would give more access to the oil drain and more opportunity to clean out dirt( looks like only four bolts) also better camera vision. also I'm glad you mentioned the motor oil in the hydraulic oil being the same that is kind of hard for me to wrap my head around😅 you did not say however the exact specifications of the oil. I guess you did not need the drain hose mechanism and what's the process of actually opening the drain fitting?
@ShopworxАй бұрын
It's designed so you don't have to pull the drive covers and possibly bugger up the seals on them. I know Id rather have to worry about the pipe plug sealing again vs cutting an oring on the drive covers.
@MikeDPlxztcАй бұрын
@Shopworx copy that. 👍

These are good graders, the 4-71 will be loud and won't have a ton of power but it should still work ok. The tilt blade wasn't standard, that's definitely a good thing to have. Those split rims are definitely easier to do off the machine lol. Editing to say hydraulic steering is the way to go. Did it with some parts off a Massey combine when the box cracked on my dad's 562. Princess auto cylinder and haven't had an issue since.
@ShopworxАй бұрын
Good to know. I've got the parts to reseal the gear box but want to go hydraulic steering so haven't re assembled it yet. Have you any idea what model of combine it was. Otherwise I'm looking at eBay for a orbital valve. Local shops haven't been overly helpful on sizing a steering valve.

Nice rig. Keep an eye on that ccv mod, it looks like the elbow fitting that you used may have reduced down to 1/2 inch instead od 3/4 which can cause positive cc pressure.

From the back of the trailer what was your measurement to the center of the axles? Center of the center mount? Building my own trailer out of a 8” i beam from a park model 30’ trailer
@ShopworxАй бұрын
Not sure exactly, I won't be back around it for a while. One thing I'm going to point out with it is that the axles are moved further ahead than I would normally build a trailer because I wanted less tung weight on the bumper of my 5th wheel trailer when I tow it behind the RV. I didn't want a bunch of sea sawing going on. I just make sureI load whatever properly to keep it tongue heavy enough to be safe.

You mighta found a diamond in the rough. Seems like the previous owner just ran the grader in the ground without proper maintenance. The worst part is the transmission and breaks. The rest shouldn't be too bad to repair. Can't wait to see you grading the driveway with it.

Yes, I love the deutz's. I try to take home every one I can get my hands on. I love to repower equipment with them. Ive got some parts engines in a 5 and 6 cylinder, a siezed 4 cylinder, one thats not siezed but I have no info on it in a air compressor, 2 of those generators now, and of course the 3610 and 6510 ditchwitch trenchers that came with them........And a new one comming this fall once I get the shack disconnected from standby. And 1 low hour lister 3cyl 7.5kva? i packed back from labrador. Hunting for some SAE #4 bellhousings and flywheels to repower a trencher and grader...... Sounds like you know a bit about the deutz's

Shawn/Sean? What did you end up doing with the 6510 regarding the engine? I have the same trencher in really good shape but the Wisconsin gives me a lot of issues. I want to put a diesel in mine. What worked for you and did it match up or did you have to do a lot of modifications? Thanks for the videos. Lou

Still haven't found what I'm looking for. They came factory with a f4l912 deutz as a diesel option. I am having a hard time finding one with such a small bell housing. I would like to go that way as it's proven in that application and is air cooled so no need for a radiator. Still depends on what I find first that works. I have other trenchers so not in a huge hurry. It was going to be one I leave in Eastern Canada so we're not shipping back and forth.

Can the KC turbo alone increase the power of my stock 1995 7.3 truck?
@brianbristofer-woods67887 ай бұрын
I believe the Donaldson has like 10 to 15 micron rating too which I believe is the best for what you can get for these trucks also a little tip if you take a punch and a hammer, you can poke a hole in the bottom of the oil filter and drain all the boil out into your pan that way when you take it out, it doesn’t make a huge mess
@baronrieker34047 ай бұрын
You have a fuel restriction most likely at the water fuel separator shut off valve.

Nice work. I was curious about your 4x4 conversion. I plan to just run a D60 in front, Wasn't planning on carrying a spare anyways. So that solves the lug issue. The other is the parking brake, I can't do what you did, so will have to figure out something else.
@BruceMyersLBZ6 ай бұрын
I ran a manual hydraulic line lock off rear brake line off master cylinder, works much better than any factory parking brake but i dont trust it sitting for any lenth of time, over 3 years with it, still holds, never bleeds off/ leaks off over time

Haven't really use it much yet. Was to light for pushing clay. Picked up a bigger champion grader, a 562. I would like to repower this 503 with a different diesel..... A air cooled deutz or possibly a 3-53 Detroit, or a decent Kubota.... Looking for the right engine for the right price. Then the ud236 will get transplanted into the older 503G that currently has no engine.

Pulls good. Hauled a ranger full of scrap steel on it, a 9 yard dumpster and a ATV on it behind my 5th wheel RV. Also behind the same travel trailer I haul a 4 seat Yamaha wolverine side by side and a 660 grizzly on this flat deck. @Shopworx8 ай бұрын
No it's a stage 1. I do Alot of heavy towing and everyone I talked to said that would be best for my application. Overall it dropped my EGTs about 300 degrees without running the water meth or my chip. Turbo gets into it a bit lower in the Powerband over stock and averages 3 to 5 psi higher boost Injectors are Baby swamps. 4" turbo back SS Diamond eye 6.0l intercooler. Just new fenders core support box etc. Kinda a face lift. Michigan salt is tough on stuff here. Keep up the good work. I'm gonna try then Blair spot weld cutters you recommended. I looked you didn't have a amazon store at least I could find. Keep up the good work.

Ha ha....if you skip to the end it's still not done... Still working on it. Got a few new videos for it half made but waiting on parts to complete them. Thanks for following along with the build. I've got a few other OBS ford videos like my crew cab resto and the f-superduty dump truck. We get the same rust issues up here from all the sand and salt as well. I've tried different spot welds cutters over the years and like those the best. Take care and best of luck with your project. If you have any questions send a message, I'm on Facebook too. I've been wrenching on these since they were made....
