This a great presentation! Question, we are having a debate and would like to see if you could potentially help. Since CMS does not recognize the new audio-only codes and requires to use E/M with modifier and POS (and other requirements). The debate is when determining the E/M level for audio-only is it going to be based on the new codes 980xx codes or E/M level. When selecting an E/M level for audio-only based on MDM is the 10 minutes minimum also required like in the new CPT codes 980xx?

Thank you so much for taking the time to do all of this but what I noticed was I have the ICD 10 CM 2025 AHIMA code book some of the items that you have listed as crossed out or placed under a different section for example, the ZIP Codes in my book they are still listed under misc and a few other items that you had gone over so I’m not sure where the discrepancy is, but my book still shows those things all in the same category and chapter. I am a coding student and just want to make sure I am understand and notating correctly.

If the patient is released a few hours after being seen does this change the cc coding?
@tropinsmedicalcodingmadeea75512 ай бұрын
sorry I did not see your question earlier. The patient's release after receiving critical care would not affect the coding. these codes are only by time/age of patient

I haven’t met one person who can explain E/M services in a way that beginner can understand. It’s like Kamala giving an answer to a question. 😆 They just read over the guidelines, we are here because guidelines is confusing and repeats the same thing for everything.

@tropinsmedicalcodingmadeea75517 ай бұрын
That's a good question. Fusions are really hard. Do you have an AMA PCS book? Look to see if there is an Appendix M with coding exercises and answers. If not, see if there are other KZbin videos or online questions.

What is the code for one nodule with four biopsy taken using FNA? Please guide
@tropinsmedicalcodingmadeea75517 ай бұрын
I am out of town right now. I will respond when I get back
@tropinsmedicalcodingmadeea75517 ай бұрын
It depends on whether or not all the biopsies are performed using the same modality (without guidance, with ultrasound, with fluoroscopy, with CT, with MRI). If all use the same modality, list one code and then the add-on code x3. For example, 4 biopsies without guidance --10021, +10004x3. If two are without guidance and two are with ultrasound guidance--10021, +10004 for without guidance and 10005, +10006 with ultrasound guidance.

@tropinsmedicalcodingmadeea75518 ай бұрын
See Guidelines for Medical and Surgical Section, B3 Root operations, Bypass procedures, B3.6b. The body part is number of coronary arteries is bypassed to, qualifier is vessel bypassed from. This is the opposite of the guidelines for other bypass procedures. There is an example following the guidelines.

I hardly ever leave comments but I couldn't leave without telling you THANK YOU and how helpful this is. I've been searching online for months trying to find various helpful information like this (and that don't charge an arm and leg for things just like this) truly wish there were more coders out there(i know there are a few) willing to work together to help us newbies learn and learn the correct way.

Glad this was helpful. I like to provide free stuff since I know students don't have much money (though I do sell my books, but for a lot less than the big publishers).
