Next time use a meal prep container and you can use the clear plastic lid to cover for when it rains or just to stow

Is there a gasket I'll need to replace if I remove the power head I wanna grease the spline for preventative maintenance but don't wanna have to order and replace the gasket it's way to new

So my buddies fishfinder is mounted flat on his console so I came up with the idea of using an actual black 9 x 7“ bowl used for meal prepping and we cut the back of it off and since his fishfinder mounted with double tape on the back it Stuck right back to the panel and we also use the lid to cover the entire thing. He could still sort of see through it if it was raining a bit but yeah, great idea.

Really, really nice. Has anybody any experience or thoughts on making this same mod to a Hobie PA 14? I have the boonedox groovy landing gear in the back and think I could mount the back bar to the grooves in the cross bar. Still have to figure out the front. Anyone tried this?
@YakNinja
@YakNinja 11 ай бұрын
Thanks. Yes PA14, PA12, outback, oasis, compass ive done it it all. Alot of us here in south florida have done this mod. You will need to cut the hobie AI crossbar and extend it or you can make your own crossbar and aka if your handy with a weld.
@carrollpatterson7220
@carrollpatterson7220 11 ай бұрын
@@YakNinja Thank you. Unfortunately, I'm not handy with the weld! But if I'm not mistaken, it looks like both you and the Florida Fish Hunter use 2015 aka REAR cross bars on both the Front and Rear. Is it easier that way to mount on a PA 14? I also have seen the 2015 (V2) Akas go on the 2014 (V1) amas, I think because the 2014 amas are smaller and easier to manage. But then the 2015 V2 Akas are not a perfect fit for the 2014 V1 amas - have you had to make any adjustments for this and do you have any videos demosntrating the mod? I know FFH had one option, but I'm slow and would love a step by step demo, or an easier alterternative. Thank you.

Hey, did you use a gasket (or similar) where the aka brackets mount to the Hobie gunwale? I'm attempting this same mod and the brackets don't seat perfectly (close but not perfect) flush and I'm afraid of a leak. Thank you
@YakNinja
@YakNinja Жыл бұрын
On my revo11 it fit perfectly flush. I did use marine goop to help seal it. On some other mods ive done like a compass i use "polly mold plastic" as a gasket like shim to make it level. Just push on it to make it level. Anothing one i use is a yellow "plastic putty spreader" from home depot. Hope that helps you.

Hi - thank you very much for the video! It WILL help me with my conversion. Question - did you have a problem with the front AKA fitting fully into the AMA? The guy in this video did the same thing with the same parts and had a problem with his front AKA. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZyQf6KunJJleKM So I'm confused! lol
@YakNinja
@YakNinja Жыл бұрын
Thanks safety is a must and this conversion will help alot! I had no problems as i already had a 2014 Adventure island. I just bought 2 rear crossbars and installed it on my revo11. In 2015 Hobie re-designed their Adventure Island making it bigger and more of a sail kayak. its best to go all parts from 2014 and older. you shouldnt run into any problems. I hope this helps with your conversion.

Fantastic video! So helpful to carry out the full spline replacement. I have to do this soon. Would it be possible to just remove the power head, turn it upside down and remove the crankshaft oil seal to get at the spline this way if it isn't seized onto the shaft? It would save having to do a full strip-down.

I can't seem to find who sells that outrigger kit since the Adventure Island is no longer available (as new). Any idea who'd have this kit? guessing Hobie. I haven't tried calling them yet not being sure what all I'd need if they could help. Thanks!!

Why do you reel right hand with conventional and left spinning?
@YakNinja
@YakNinja 2 жыл бұрын
Its more personal preference. For me Vertical jigging Left hand its easier with a spinner considering im right handed/stronger holding/controling the rod pumping/ripping the jig thru water column. Slow pitch jigging im holding the rod with my left as 1unit slowly loading/pitching the jig as my right hand is stronger/cranking.
@alive4082

@@YakNinja I just experienced with both and I'm right hand. Found that jigging I like left hand with my strong arm on the weight of the fish helps and I'm less tired jigging. Lexa 400 reel and that motion is perfect. Thx from Oahu

I was thinking of using JB weld for creating a transducer cover, but I think the moldable plastic is a better option. My Hobie gets dragged across rocks and this material sounds robust. I have a side imaging transducer so I might be able to answer Johan's question after I get my project completed.
