There's a lot of bs that makes no sense with the English language. Win -> Winner Lose -> Loser (nor Losser) Fail -> Failure House -> Houses Mouse -> Mice Goose -> Geese Moose -> Moose Through (throo) Though (thow) Tough (tuff) Thought (thawt)

Fun fact: The word "German" existed BEFORE the word "Germany." And, the reason that the English language "doesn't make sense" is because English isn't a singular language as much as it's a Ponzi scheme for words. The faster people wrap their heads around the fact that "language" is just a system of human animal grunts that we've agreed to pretend has meaning, the better off we'll all be.

I couldn't tell the difference at *all* when you pronounced the zhi chi and shi. I would be *doomed* trying to learn Chinese! Languages with very subtle differences that can change the entire meaning... Sadly, I'm gradually losing the ability to speak English as well-- and it's my native tongue!🙃 Take good care!😊

I only remember grammar rules names and stuff from my Spanish class in middle school and high school. I’m a native English speaker, but the grammar is learned so young that a lot of us forget about why we use grammar the way we do.

I’ll say this, it’s more common if you grew up in Canada with immigrant parents or if you moved to Canada at a young age, that you were made to learn your native language. In fact at least here in Toronto there are many communities that operate language schools outside of regular school with transferable credits to regular school. It’s in fact very common as long as your parents try to maintain a connection to the community

Hmm... You seem a tad upset, dear.🤔 You have to be an artist to write in Chinese and I can't draw a straight line with a ruler... Can we just call it a draw?🙃 As for learning English, you've done great considering we can't even follow our own rules: "I before E, except after C... Disproven by Science". I could go on but I don't have that kind of time! Take good care!😊

Lauren Tom, the voice actress for Amy, supposedly does speak fluent Cantonese, but she's a third-generation American so there are probably some significant pronunciation differences. I doubt, for example, that Italian-Americans who grew up speaking Italian speak it the same way as native Italians. There's also the fact that adult cartoons, especially ones from the 90s and early 2000s, have a tendency to deliberately emphasize the lack of understandability of foreign languages to Americans (in other words, even when they're using actual dialogue in different languages they force the voice actors to overemphasize accents to make it sound like gibberish).

She raises a valid point. The blame is not only on English, as there are other languages and changes in history that have messed up the calendar and month names. But here I pose a simple and elegant solution: Latin I. - Mensis Primus - Martius II. - M. Secundus - Aprilis III. - M. Tertius - Maius IV. - M. Quartus - Iunius V. - M. Quintus - Quintilis VI. - M. Sextus - Sextilis VII. - M. Septimus - September VIII. - M. Octauus - October IX. - M. Nonus - Nouember X. - M. Decimus - December XI. - M. Vndecimus - Ianuarius XII. - M. Duodecimus - Februarius The year starts with the beginning of spring in March. The first four months have unique names related to their season of growth. Months 5-10 have numerical names, similarly to Chinese. Months 11 & 12 have names related to the end of the year, reflection during winter, and transition to the new year. Months 5 & 6 only had their names changed to commemorate Iulius Caesar & Octauianus Augustus, which are unnecessary and can be reverted back to their original numerical names. The original 12 month Calendarium Romanum had month names that made sense. It was only ruined by later reforms. Every language/culture around the world has its own traditional calendar and way of keeping track of the months, but if we must have a global standard calendar recognized by all nations, lets use the original logical form upon which it is based, rather than the ruined English version that has become widespread.

Bro just wrote a whole dissertation on this LMAO dude is fired up about months. Kind of makes sense tho if you look at the history like that.

I think Amy is meant to represent all east asia. So, without knowing absolutely a single thing of east asian languages, I'm going to bet she's mixing mandarin, cantonese, vietnamese, korean and maybe even japanese. Who knows what else. I remember her cursing "Ho Chi Minh!" in one episode, but I don't remember if I was watching the original english episode or the spanish dubbed version they aired where I live. Spanish dubs usually replace lines with something that they think it may be more culturally funny.

Remember, this takes place 1000 years in the future, and Amy is from Mars not China, so it would be believable that future Martian Chinese would be quite different that modern Chinese.
