THREE EPISODES IN ONE DAY?!?!?!
@rasamalai8 ай бұрын
But the other 2 seem to be behind the scenes. NVM Thanks so much for your comment! D:
@profonde34608 ай бұрын
@@rasamalai Hi. It is three 10-12 minutes continuing episodes. Episode 1: 'Jessie'. Episode 2: 'Blender'. Episode 3: 'Super Asian' (yeh Ep 1 is only 9:49 - close enough to 10 minutes). Don't know why you would think other episodes are "behind the scenes". Series just goes to many office & work scenes, after this one Episode numbers are it top right corner of the thumbnail. Jessie did upload 3 episodes in 1 day. KZbin uploads can be scheduled days or weeks in advance though. However Jessie probably did put them all up in same day, considering how much work she puts into her content. After typing this I thought i'd check what NVM means. As not seen that (not quite an) acronym before, & I'm on youtube a lot and read comments a lot. So re what I just typed, above, in the paragraph above, NVrMnd

What's so amazing about this is that it's not only funny, but there's a more profound message or moral about this whole thing. Thank you for conveying these lessons in a funny and light way, Jessie.

Aw. I was fortunate. My Asian parents actually named me "Jessie" right off the bat. I also had an informal Chinese name, that mainly only my paternal grandparents used (everyone else called me "Jessie". But later as an adult, I became enamored with the French language and legally changed it to "Sophie". I never had identity struggles with whether to keep a Chinese name or not. Possibly because it was always assumed that we live here now; we would have American names if we wanted. Before I was even born, when my dad's family came here from Hong Kong, two of my dad's brothers also changed their names to American names - "Shui" to "Leonard" and "Wing" to "James". No one made an issue of it or anything. And informally, at family gatherings, they go by both names. And changing names absolutely did not mean we were abandoning the Chinese culture at all! Just embracing our new one!

Cool. One observation. I see that in the States, Asian people call themselves Asian, while say a Polish American will be a Polish American, we don't call ourselves European or White Americans, or at least I don't think so, I've not seen that from my contacts there. Is it not really the case with your communities that you'd rather be Vietnamese American or Korean American or ... -American? As I live in an English speaking country and studied in a mostly English university and have accreditation in the UK and US as well as here, I use an English version of my Polish name unofficially. English people can't say Polish names and so, as many are derived from Jewish/Greek/Latin names eg John = Jan, it's possible to use the English version to have the same meaning. But English people are still bad. I found other ethnicity, white and non white to be better at saying my original name, but they also struggle. I've known Taiwanese people here and for the most part they also assumed English names as first names.

In China I had to take a Chinese name. Well, I could have transcript my French name (since for the papers, I needed Chinese writing, they can do it phonetically,), but I was given a real Chinese name by my Chinese boyfriend, and he wanted me to use that one, so I did. Issue is I was white (I am not Asian, I was a French girl moving to China) , so I obviously didn't look Chinese, and since China was really not mixed at that time (we were like only 5 white people at the university), it was really weird for people that I have a Chinese name ahah :D Everyone expected me to have a "foreign name" when seeing me and were confused that I didn't ! So, what should have been "more simple" wasn't really ! (also it was an old name, which I didn't know, so it was weird because I was young...) Even worst : I took the last name of that same boyfriend (in France, we take the last name of the husband). But since they don't do that in China, it made no sense that we had the same last name (and that I had a Chinese last name, wtf !) , we were asked if we were brother and sister ? cousin ? (but he was Asian and I wasn't ?) so many questions ahah :D

I once met a young lady who called herself "Gow Nuu." Her and her friend Annie both spoke fluent English. I think Annie was called "Guuwaa." Both of them were born in America from immigrants from Laos. I don't think Gow Nuu had an English name.

As an Asian in Australia, I learned that Chinese names are too difficult for an English speaking person to pronounce, therefore I use an English first name and keep my Chinese name as the middle name. Last name stays the same of course

As teacher in France, I had some student with Chinese names (they looked Asian, had Chinese names written) so I was proud to pronounce them correctly since I speak Chinese and... they didn't answer to it ! The corrected me to use the French mispronunciation of it ! The reason is probably they are born and raised in France and only know (or used to) that pronunciation. I was kind of disappointed lol.

I felt like the white guy earlier trying to comment on struggles in a conversation between women of color... It's not necessarily that we're just that stupid and don't understand but you open your mouth and realize anything you say could accidentally cross a line so you become inarticulate and vague.
