Dave Ted from Arkansas. I’ll wake up in the middle of the night with completely different idea and, that is why it takes me so long to complete any project. You think things through and, your abilities to complete a project is as good as a supposedly expert. I’ve been doing this for 50 or more years and, I’ve got some great information on what I’ve watched you do. I enjoy watching your videos and, seeing how you do things. Who cares about somebody’s opinion of how to do something. You definitely know how to get things done Dave so keep it up. I think I would have to AC your garage. Can’t take the heat like I use to. Anxious to watch #9 come together

I love it, Mate, it's amazing. I especially love the shape, it looks modern, it doesn't take (for the lack of a better word) the look and harmony of the whole rig, as opposed to the big square-ish which dominates everything, some are so big that they look like they're eating the truck. The inside is also great and clever, it has all I reckon I'd need if I were to do such a camper and travel about. Lastly, and this is me, I'll prefer a more rugged finish, like a black matte paint to cover the wood, again, me... The wood inside is perfect though. Enjoy your adventures and travel safe 🤘🏻

After rewatching I was wondering if youve thought of adding a dc to dc charger to this setup? And also I wonder if you've tested the cooling performance of your added fan blowing the opposite direction (outward). Yours looked like blowing in if not mistaken. Blowing outward usually performs better, but not always PS- where does the 12v refrigerator plug into on your setup? 🤔
@EndgameCampersКүн бұрын
I don’t have my truck wired for DC output and solar has always been sufficient, so I didn’t bother, but yes a person could. You very well could be right regarding the fan, however real estate limitations made me have to mount it on that side. If it blowed outward it would interfere with the cooling fans mounted within the inverter (they pull from the other direction). If you look to the lower left hand side you see a female cigarette socket. The fuse box in my camper (fridge and other accessories are wired through) has a male end. When I mount my system in the camper I just insert the male end. Plug and play - quick and easy.

@@EndgameCampers thanks so much for the detailed response Dave 🙌 I went back and looked at your tour video of 8.0 and saw the separate 12v input you had installed above cooler location. Ohh and I had an inkling it may be due to internal fan from inverter. Either way it was a cool added feature you made there. Should help in summer when running the AC

Unfortunately your design won't last very long because you're using a low cost high frequency, output transformerless inverter. You'll be lucky if you get even a years worth of use. A much better choice would have been to choose a low frequency, transformer based inverter instead.
@EndgameCampersКүн бұрын
I appreciate you identifying the difference, but you are missing the point of the build to some extent . Of course you want the system to have max reliability; however, a transformer based inverter would be far larger defeating the whole purpose of my build which is meant to be compact and movable. Reliability is an issue a person could go back and forth on endlessly; but as an anecdote, I have used two other inverters of the same brand/size extensively and have had no issues in the long run (couple years of use). I don’t know this for sure, but I suspect transformer inverters were once the king of reliability, but it seems transformerless inverters have gotten better in time. When most people talk about the advantages of transformer based inverters, they typically seem to do so from the context of residential solar systems and benefits that don’t involve reliability. I’m not attacking you, but I think there is a little more nuance to your point that needs to be mentioned.
@quickquote156815 сағат бұрын
@@EndgameCampers I repair inverters for a living, have done so at the component level for the past 25 years. I can tell you from experience that high frequency inverter design and reliability has not change much over over that period of time. Yes, there has been a few new features added, primarily in the area of monitoring but when it comes to durability and longevity, especially when powering inductive loads, nothing much has changed.

Dave, did you get a chance yet to see how long the solar and AC will run your AC? If not, I wonder if a larger power station would keep up? I guess it really comes down to how much solar too? If the AC pulls 500 watts, then 600 plus watts would keep it going all day, then a large power station would carry it overnight? These campers are so cool. My Dad would have loved these campers, thanks

Dave, I’m watching this again and wondering; how many watts are each panel, and how many watts do you get out of each flex solar panel? Are they holding up well? The reason I asked is solar doesn’t like heat and it seems those flat panels laying flat with no air space under them would get really hot and lose efficiency? Thanks.
@EndgameCampers2 күн бұрын
I have 300 watts on the roof. Surprisingly, even mid-day summer, I can get 240-250 watts. Not what I expected either due to the heat. They are holding up well for now, but I am monitoring. They are nearly twice as much as other foldable panels and use a different technology. I’m hoping they will be more durable because of that.

OK I watched your video carefully and it looks good. You covered the bases and did it using heavy gauge wire and had your solar charge controller and inverted protected by breakers.. I also agree that the only way to do it is with bus bars.. My only issue is its a lot of exposed wire and equipment and its mounted to wood panels.. This may be a problem.That is just not a solid/optimum way to do the construction.. Suggestion: go out and buy some stack-able, plastic tool boxes.. I believe Rigid has something you can use. This would better protect your equipment and be better sealed against dust and water.. Also, looking at your set up, you may be able to use much of the existing wiring in the plastic tool boxes. Hey, I'm not being a troll here.. Just trying to help.. Again.. you did a good job.. just had some suggestions.

Great video and camper too. You gave me a great idea. I just finished doing a portable power bank on a hand truck using a 51.2V server rack battery with a 3000W all in one inverter, charger, and mppt charger. I knew when I first started the project that I would not be able to charge the battery using solar as the unit required a minimum of 120V to start charging if I was going to use the off grid combination inverter. I have 2 portable folding panels that are 160W each and 2 that are 220 each. If I do what you did and buy 2 addition solar chargers one for the 160W panels and the other for the 220W I can directly connect to the battery and have around 700W of charging capacity. My 220W panel are bifacial and they usually output between 245 and 265 watts. Enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing.

Nice cabinet and workmanship . I found a store bought cabinet made of poplar for my minimal build cargo van . Listed as a tv cabinet it’s the perfect height and depth for storage and some counter space .. Good looking sturdy wood and lighter than other hardwoods . Another find is a tambour pull out counter by rev-a-shelf that stows away in the space of a cabinet drawer. I’m thinking of incorporating it in the cabinet for extra counter space when needed .
