Hi again dear Mr tydye , the last guide you gave me make my colour incredibly improved and I'm working on it to get better and I understand it takes experience and time . BUT I have a unique problem 😅, please guide me, I complete a Tee after washing and every thing , my lines of ty of simew of Tee still remains and after iron it changed a little bit the structure of my fabric, what's your suggestion to avoid these consequences. Thank you so much 🙋🏻🌹

Hello 👋 am glad to hear my videos have been of help to you ... as for the sinew lines... I am not sure how to fix that issue other than trying not to wrap to tightly on smaller sections of fabric as they can get stretched some and then will not lay flat again ... I have had a bit of issue with this myself ... and I have received tees from other who do more of this type of tying ... it had lots of 'bumps' from the sinew lines ... after wearing and washing it several times, the 'bumps' have mellowed out some, but have not gone away entirely I am Sorry I cannot be of more help to you on this issue, ..... it just seems to be some sort of a balance between tying tight enough to get the white lines, but not too tight so as to end up with 'bumpy' fabric at the end ✌️

Are you using Procion Dyes?? I am not familiar with any other kinds of dyes ... BUT, as for black, it is one of the more difficult colors to get with tie-dye, I mix mine twice as strong as most of the colors and I use 3 different black dyes in my dye mix ... here is more info on what I do to get a good black color : I use three different black powders in my jar... New, Better and Raven Black all from dharma. I poured all three dye powders into one jar, shook it up and I use that as my black dye. I add 2 tbsp of salt & 2 tbsp of urea to 32 oz of luke warm water, the urea helps to mix more powder into the water and the salt is supposed to help 'push' the dye out of the water and into the fabric when doing LWI. I use twice as much black dye powder than I do for any other color. For 32 oz of dye, I use 4 heaping tbsp's of dye powder, SO, a little math here >> one level tbsp is 3 tsp, so with my heaping tbsp, I guess it is 5-6 tsp per scoop, so times 4, that is 20-24 tsp for 32 oz of black dye, or 10-12 for 16 oz of black dye dye. When mixing the black dye, even with the urea, all of the powder still does not dissolve on the first blend, so I carefully pour it through a filter into the bottle, but I leave the bottom of the cup as there tends to be 'black gunk' there. This powder is still needed, so I add more fresh water to the cup and blend again and then this powder will usually dissolve. DO NOT pour it out, or your black will not have its full recipe included and the color will be off. One more thing, black dyes take longer to set up, so that is why I started leaving my dyes to batch for 48 hours... it was for the black dyes to start and then I liked how all of my colors looked, so I started batching everything I dye for 48 hours with some heat. 70F is a good temp to batch at, but I stack my tub near a heater vent or out in the sun depending on the weather so they get some nice heat while batching. Also, since you said you are a beginner, here is my Beginner Playlist just in case you did not see it : kzbin.info/aero/PLMEtBqB2BzuquDrHsqxbv8LdFkaIyy3wo for my initial wash out after I have 'batched' the dyes ( Batching - meaning I left the tees sit for a minimum of 24 hours, but I prefer 48 hours to let the dyes bond with the cotton fibers of the tee) I use Synthrapol Soap, it is a textile soap that is pH Neutral ( this is good as it will not reactivate the dyes as they wash out of the tee, some soaps contain soda ash and can reactivate the dyes in the washer and back stain) ... some dyers use Blue Dawn Dish soap as an alternative to the Syntrapol soap as it to is pH neutral I hope the playlist will be of help for you, I do not have a telegram channel, just this KZbin channel ✌️

You are welcome ... I love this art and think it should be open to everyone, not just those who can figure it out ... as for bodies and crew neck, them being thicker fabrics will make them more difficult to fold and dye, BUT, you can do it, just have to be patient with them in the folding and tying, and then dyeing, just make sure to open the crease and check for white spaces and add more dye where needed as these will soak up a lot of dye ... here is a few videos I have done for hoodies : kzbin.info/aero/PLMEtBqB2BzuqU-VjaVYYOBOjvEFZgxFfj Have fun and I Wish you success!! ✌️

The only Dyes that I recommend are the Procion Fiber Reactive Dyes ... I have not used any others, but I have seen results from others and I like the results I get from the Procion Dyes ... BUT, these are concentrated dyes, so you can buy a little and have them go a long way ... One thing you can do is some of your own color mixing ... In tie-dye, the Primary Colors are Lemon Yellow, Turquoise and Fuchsia ... from these you can mix the secondary colors of Orange, Green & Purple ... Also, I recommend getting a Black dye as well, this will allow you to darken your colors a bit. you can mix the colors in various ways ... either straight from the powder form, or you can mix up the 3 primary colors and then mix the secondary colors from them so you have the full rainbow of colors ... I would start with 1/2 & 1/2 ... so if you want green, mix half turn and half yellow ... THEN, if you want the green to be brighter, add more yellow, if you want it to be darker, add more turq. If you use black to darken you colors, start out with a small bottle and add just a couple drops of black to start with as it does not take much... then I test drops on white paper towel to get a general idea of how it looks Here is a video where I experiment with the Spiral design by dyeing it various ways, the first one I dye in this video is a rainbow spiral, BUT, I do it with just the Primary color and I mix them right on my tee shirt : kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIatnIOBfdulq80 ALSO, for more dye mixing tips, I do a demo of how I mix colors ... I do it in small bottles to get an idea of the mixture of each color... then I can make a larger bottle : kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJbchY2Cmsl3nK8 I buy my dyes from Dharma Trading as I live in Oregon and they are close to me, but also they have a great selection of colors... but there are many place to buy these dyes from, I know dharma sells Kits of various sizes so you can try them out and then just buy more dye and supplies as needed CA : Dharma : www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/dharma-fiber-reactive-procion-dyes.html CO : Grateful Dyes : www.grateful-dyes.com/ CO : CO Wholesale Dye Corp. : www.bulkdye.com NC : Custom Colors Inc. : www.customcoloursinc.com/ MA : Pro-Chemical and Dye : prochemicalanddye.net/ MO : Dyespin : www.dyespin.com and just in case it helps or is needed, here is my Beginner Playlist : kzbin.info/aero/PLMEtBqB2BzuquDrHsqxbv8LdFkaIyy3wo

Do we need any salt to prepare the color? In our country we use salt and soda ash to prepare the color.

with Procion Dyes ... really all you 'Need' is water to mix them ... then soak the Cotton tee in soda ash ... then tie and dye Now, with that said, salt can help improve your colors ... but it is not required ✌️

@MrTieDye
@MrTieDye 2 ай бұрын
Thank you and you are welcome ... and that was the soap I use to wash out the excess dyes that did not bond with the cotton fibers ... the soap is called Synthrapol ... is is a pH neutral soap so it is good for doing the wash outs after the dyes have set up ... a little background, the Procion Dyes I use require a high pH of 10.6 - 11.0 ... and that is achieved by soaking the cotton tee in soda ash before dyeing it ... then for the wash out, I use a neutral pH soap ... I do not want to re-activate the dyes as I am washing them out, or they could go back into the tee and do some 'back-staining' I buy my Synthrapol soap from Dharma where I buy my dyes, but there are other pH neutral soaps that dyers use for the wash out ... Blue Dawn Dish soap is one commonly used ... the other that I know of is Rolex Carpet Cleaner ... both are pH neutral so they will not re-activate the loose dyes in the washer

Can you reuse sinew?
@MrTieDye
@MrTieDye 2 ай бұрын
I know some people do, and in the beginning I tried reusing mine... But the wax does not hod up well after the first use and the wax is what helps lock the sinew in with pulled tight as well as resist some of the dye from penetrating ... also, it must be rinsed very good, or any dye that is still on the sinew might transfer to the next tee you are tying and leave spots

Hey brother. Great info. Got a quick question.. is it just the high Ph that helps the dye adhere to the fabric or are there additional benefits that we get from using soda ash, or could I use pickeling lime (i use the lime to raise the Ph of the substrate for my mushrooms?) So i got that on hand.. 1/4 tsp per 1gal h20 raises my tap water from 7 to around 11.. hope that makes sense
@MrTieDye
@MrTieDye 2 ай бұрын
Hello 👋 ... that is a good question and one that I cannot fully answer.... But, here is what I know... Procion Dyes need the Higher pH (10.6 - 11.0) to bond with the cotton fibers ... it is a chemical reaction that happens to form the chemical bond between the fibers and the dye ... I have only ever used Soda Ash for this process (and I have made soda ash from baking soda by heating it) ... So, I checked in with the Paula Burch site as she has lots of good info on dyeing and I did find : www.pburch.net/dyeing/dyeblog/C1845207367/E20061122120825/index.html .... basically the high pH will work, but soda ash is the safest chemical to work with ... so then I think the question, which might only be answered by testing it out is to try it and see how it works... the only question I have is how the Lime will affect the cotton .... soda ash is fine as is is an ingredient in most laundry detergents I hope this helps.... and if you do test out the Lime, I would be interested in knowing/seeing the results of your experiment ✌️ Have fun!! 🤩

I got little sprinkling of dark spots of dye on my tie dyes this time using soda ask, I'm thinking the soda ash got not dissolved ? And it made dark spots ? Any recommendations
@MrTieDye
@MrTieDye 2 ай бұрын
in my experience, it tends to be the dye that does not dissolve all the way ... so they a little speck of dye will sit on the tee or whatever and dye a darker spot while it batches ... so a couple solutions I have come up with ... first thing is to dye the tee inside out, this way if you have the little spots, most of them will be on the inside of the tee... to check this out... go find a tee that has these spots and look on the reverse side of the fabric where the spots are... most times they do not soak all the way through, but at the very least, the spots will be much smaller if you turn the tee inside out to dye it Another thing when doing liquid dyeing is to make sure you mix the dyes well enough so all of the dye gets dissolved... once I am done mixing my liquid dyes, I pour them through a fine mesh filter, this will catch the little bits that have not dissolved all the way... NOTE : if there are just a couple specks, it is fine to just rinse the filter and move on .... BUT, if there is a lot of gunk in the filter, you will need to tap this back into the dye mixing cup, add more water and blend some more, or this could put the shade of the color off ... that gunk would be undissolved dye and with some colors, there are more than one color of dye in the mix, so if you leave some of it out, then you are missing 'ingredients' for this color of dye ( I hope that made sense to you) Another thing that could happen is the insides of the bottles of dye will build up some 'residue' and this can slowly come off and land on your tee as you dye them, so cleaning your dye bottles now and then can help as well... here is how I clean mine : kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4eqd5Rvbsxog9k I hope these tips help ✌️

May God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you. Can I dispense with caustic soda in dyeing a necktie, because I am very, very damaged by it? Can I suffice with table salt and sodium carbonate? I am waiting for your response. Thank you.
@MrTieDye
@MrTieDye 3 ай бұрын
Thank you and God Bless You 🙏 when using Procion Dyes you need to raise the pH for the dyes to activate and then bond with the cotton fibers... I use Soda Ash for this, also known as Sodium Carbonate ... I mix one cup of powder soda ash with one gallon of water... then I soak the cotton tees for 20 minutes to make sure they are fully saturated with soda ash in this video I show how I mix my soda ash, OR, how to make it by heating Baking Soda (Sodium Bi-Carbonate) just in case you cannot find or get Soda Ash where you live I have not use 'Caustic soda' ... I hope this helps ✌️
