Mystical Magical Tie-Dye Spider Design Pt2 ~ I put Time Stamps in Description Box ✌🏻

While Tie-Dyeing some tank tops for a customer, I had some new inspirations on dyeing the Spider Design in a different way. Initially, I was going to dye three tees, but as soon as I finished dyeing the last tee, I had a new inspiration. Then after washing the tank tops out and seeing the results, I knew I needed to dye a few more tees to demo this method of dyeing a little better. Another great video. I started using crochet string after another dyer mentioned the dye didn’t travel along the string like kite string does because it’s 100% cotton. 1000 yards for 10$ at Wally World. ✌️

Thanks for sharing... and I tried Embroidery String when I ran out of kite string and it worked great, but was not as strong as the kite string ... but I loved that the strings stayed colorful, so I cut them and use them as book marks ... I recently switched to a different kite string which is thinner, but I still had this older stuff so I am trying to use it up ... I appreciate the tip about Crochet String, I will check it out as well!! ✌🏻🙏💚

I use Procion Dyes I pre wash and pre soak the cotton tees in a Soda Ash solution, this raises the pH level of the cotton which activates the Procion Dyes (sources listed below) and causes a chemical bond to form between the cotton fibers and the Procion Dyes. (Procion Dyes work on other natural fibers as well like : Bamboo, Hemp, Linen, Rayon, and even silk, but I use a slightly different process for silk) I have a ton of videos that are sorted into many different playlists so be sure to explore … 
 I have put a bunch of videos into one Playlist to help get you started with an overview of Tie-Dye, and then how to mix the Dyes, mix or make Soda Ash, Batch the tees (let the dyes set up so the bonding can happen), and the Rinse/Wash Out Process... I had two of them that had a black back on them, the XL and the 2X ... both of them started out as black tees and I did a discharge on just the bottom part of the tee ... so one side in a lite tan and the other is left black ... You can also start with a white tee and dye one side all black, or any other color you want here is how I did the one sided discharge, the video is on a scrunch, but it can be done with the Spiral, Spider, Pleated or whatever fold you do... Hi love your videos. If you dont use all the dye in the bottle is it okay to leave in the bottle for next time?

Thank you 🙏 ... as for left over dye... if it is Procion Dyes, then yes you can leave it for next time, as long as you have not added soda sh to the bottles.... I soak my tees in the soda ash or I add it after I am done dyeing at room temp, (65-70F here in Oregon) I have left dye sit out for 2-3 weeks and still had decent colors from them... they slowly 'go bad' over time, which means they produce lighter shades of color... AND ... if you have a mini fridge to store them in, they will last even longer... I have had some decent color from dyes that were mixed 2 months ago that were stored in the Fridge ... When I mix my dyes, I put a piece of duct tape on the bottle so I can write the mix date on them BUT, if you are using one of the 'One Step' Kits from the store, then those dyes should all be used if they have had water added to them ... with the One Step kits, the soda sh is added to the dye bottles, so the dyes are active as soon as you add water to the bottle, for best colors, the dyes should be used right after mixing them, so I recommend people getting their tees all tied up and ready before they mix dyes if they are using a One Step Kit just in case you did not see it, here is my Beginners Playlist which is full of helpful videos for starting out with tie-dye : kzbin.info/aero/PLMEtBqB2BzuquDrHsqxbv8LdFkaIyy3wo

Good morning Mr. Tie-dye. How have you been doing? I have been ice Tie-dyeing. Something I'm doing is still not right. I wash my white ( Cotton blend) clothes in the blue Dawn dish liquid first. Then let them soak in my homemade soda ash ( Baking soda) ( I watch your video on how to do that) for 24 hours. Then hand Twist them out. Then ice tie-dye ( I let the ice melt all the way) Then wash them out again with the blue dawn Dish liquid. But they ALWAYS look faded after I wash them. 😬😔. So I ordered some Jacquard synthrapol. Do you think that will stop the Issue of the colors looking faded after washing? I'm hoping so🤞🤞🤞. HELP PLEASE 😢. I really enjoy tie dying but that issue is disencouraging me to continue. I want my tie-dye To look bright,awesome and extraordinary Like yours 😌.

Good Morning ... as for Ice Dyeing, I am still experimental when I do them, but let me ask this... when your ice is all melted, do you still have a lot of dye powder on top of the tee that did not dissolve and go into the tee?? if this is the case, then you may need to add more ice .... BUT, my guess is you need more soda ash... it can get diluted with ice dyes if all you do is soak the garment in soda ash soaking in soda ash is enough for liquid dyed tees, but when using Ice, sometimes more soda ash is needed to keep the pH at the level you need for the dyes to properly react and bond to the cotton fibers ... SO, usually I will soak my tees, and then add the dyes to the tee, then I cover with ice and then I sprinkle on some more soda ash powder OR, I also mix some soda ash powder into the dye powder and then apply them together on the tee .. I use a mix of 2tsp of dye powder to 1/4 cup of soda ash ... as long as it stays dry, the soda ash and dye do not react, plus mixing them together helps in the application process, I find some of the dye powders can be a bit clumpy... mixed with soda ash, then flow much better off a spoon or whatever you use to apply them ... I hope this helps

@MrTieDye Thank you for getting back to me. I'm sorry for just now getting back to you. I've been using the synthrapol to pre-washed an then after wash. An the Jacquard Procion MX dye powder. I can definitely tell a difference before (looks cleaner) an after (the colors don't Run out). I will try what you said though. Plus I've been putting my tee's an socks in glass jars (after Soaking in soda ash) an then ice Tie-dyeing. An WOW! You should try it, it's pretty cool.

@MrTieDye Yes sometimes I do have that issue when I ice tie-dye. I do add more ice. I try to put a lid on the jar an when it's hot outside I put it in the sun. I just need to sometimes add more tie-dye powder because I didn't Achieve the darkness I wanted.

Yes, most times I turn my tees inside out to dye them, this is my preference not a requirement ... but the reasons I do it : 1 ~ easier to see the hems when I want to center the tee or fold it in half 2 ~ I use washable markers and now and then there will be a mystery spot that does not wash out for some reason (rare, but it has happened) so this way the spot will be on the inside of the tee 3 ~ sometimes there will be tiny specks of dye that do not dissolve and they can rest on the fabric na create a tiny spot or dye that is darker than the rest of the color around it... these spot to will be on the inside of the tee so from here you can choose to turn inside out or leave them as they are ✌🏻💚🙏
