What kind of unflavored gelatin? Human grade unflavored gelatin? And if so, can I find in in the Isle where the gelatin is at a grocery store?

So clutches that are infertile or just never hatches we can use as an ingredient in high calcium snello?

You say no salt. But isn't there salt in the can of french style green beans? Is it ok to use fresh raw french style green beans? However I just started being a snail mom. So I would definitely appreciate your help on being successful in being a snail mom.🐌☺️🐌🤗🐌 I have golden mystery snails and 1 apple snail and I have another snail that seems to be maybe a apple snail or maybe some kind of mystery snail. I am also currently incubating 1 clutch that 1 of my female golden mystery snails laid.

So I'm a new mystery snail owner and I have questions. First my male snail is mounting my female and riding her several times a day. I only have one tank so should I make something to get him out of the tank and give her a break? Second, do the veggies need to be cooked? Third, eggs for calcium, you said to take out the egg lining?

Thank you so much for posting this Lav! My magenta mystery snail (Wisteria) is probably about 3 months old but very very small, and she laid 3 egg clutches, causing her shell to crack. Yesterday I thought she was sleeping but she was in a weird position and didn’t move for about 8 hours. This morning she still hadn’t moved so I decided to do an air bath, which I only knew about because of this video, which saved her. Now she’s moving around and eating again, and doesn’t seem to be acting weird anymore. This video saved her!!!

I'm trying the air bath but my snails didn't come out of the shell after 15min 😢 they are still alive, this I know. I bought them 3 days ago and they were active (one much more than the other, but both were walking around) but didn't eat either kibble or cucumber. Yesterday they stopped and stayed at the same place until now with the operculum slightly open. I'm worried cause they didn't come to the surface to breathe and I started asking myself "How long are they able to live underwater without breathing?". All the parameters are fine, but I can't understand what's wrong. And they are young Snails too...Can you help me, please? 🥺

So, this is slightly long, but I've seen nothing regarding this particular sort of "crack" or deviation, as I refer to it. My snail's split/deviation began from where he likes to "mount" one of my females and it's where their shells meet. It has spread about half an inch to three quarters of an inch up into his shell. It looks like it's very nearly down to the meaty part of his head. I do what I can to try and keep him from doing that while trying to repair his shell, but I can't supervise them all the time. I've watched your video a couple of different times now - the first time was long before I ever had any shell issues to care for myself, but I'm not sure that this is a situation where attempting to attach a piece of eggshell would be entirely appropriate, just because of the location and kind of damage that exists. I do, however, want to come up with some kind of calcium paste to fill in the space that's been worn away. So far I've been directly applying calcium powder to his shell (as well as upped the calcium in his diet), and in the right amount it seems to actually stick to his shell without immediately rinsing out when he gets back in the water. I was considering using some kind of liquid bandage with the calcium, but ingredients like acetone or alcohol tell me a resounding "no" for the health, comfort, and overall well-being of the snail. I am also weary of using any kind of super glue, because many of them have other chemicals that can potentially leech into the shell or into the water. I was thinking of maybe some sort of dissolvable wrapping to make a kind of calcium+fibrous, layered covering to fill the gap to help it heal, but alas, I could not find any sort of gauze, bandage, or other covering that would be ideal for such an application. It doesn't seem to be hurting him, but I don't want it to progress into a further deviation or start really digging down into the meat of his head. I want to say the calcium powder being applied to his shell and in the damaged areas has been helping, but I only just thought of doing that a day or two ago, so only time will tell. I just wasn't sure if you, or maybe anyone else has had a similar issue, or if you or anyone else perhaps had further ideas on how I should try to treat my little snail buddy? I feel bad that it's gotten to this point, but I haven't really known what to do about it. If there are any thoughts or ideas, or somebody wants to see a picture of what I'm describing, please respond and we can communicate further. Thanks to everyone who read this! After proofreading my comment, I had the thought of making a layered covering using egg membranes with calcium powder in between the membranes... But would that work? Would it wash away or come unstuck? If I applied it wet onto the shell when the shell is dry, filled in the gaps and empty spaces with the egg/calcium "patch" and then see how it dries and whether or not it stays in place? Obviously I don't want to leave him out of the water for too long waiting for it to dry and kind of adhere to his shell, but if it works then it's worth it, right? Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome! Thanks again!

I used about an inch/inch and a half crushed coral atop my soil substrate and it’s great for calcium. It can make the water milky if it’s stirred up too much tho. I’ve noticed mine eat the dead parts of growing plants and avoid the healthy sections as long as they have food. Super cute snails to watch

Hi Lav! Love your videos!! ❤ I’m a newish owner of mystery snails. I have a pair of white light foots (Pearl and Earl) and a younger beautiful chocolate colored one that hitched a ride as a baby on a plant I bought 3 moths ago and was a beautiful surprise addition. My white pair just laid their first clutch. How many mystery snails can you keep in a 20 gallon planted tank without crashing it, do you think? I used your recipe of agar snello and they love it, and it turned out perfect! Thank you! Can we use the crushed up unwanted clutches in our snello recipe? I have a feeling I’m going to have a lot of unwanted clutches. My male “Earl” is a horn dog. 😂

We found she couldn’t breathe underwater and was getting bubbles all the time from the hole in her shell after the collision with a rock in the tank. We did the egg shell surgery and 6 months later she is perfect still ❤️❤️ thank you so much 🫶🫶

You've got guppies in with your snails! :o But the snails don't seem harassed (shorter/missing antenna) I've always heard guppies will harass snails, similar to how Betta will, but is that incorrect? I'd love to add a few guppies into my 10gal, but wanted to give my aquatic snails a worry-free zone.

Can anyone give me advice on what to do if my snail's shell keeps eroding due to water parameters? I have Wonder Shells and crushed coral in the tank, but they're not working. The pH and kH are still low and I don't feel comfortable adding baking soda because I've heard bad things about that, so now I have no idea what to do besides repair the shell with an egg

Hi! I love your video. I wanted to ask a few things about mystery snails. I've read online that they carry parasites and diseases that can affect other animals and humans even causing death,is that true? I really like them but that seems really scary to me. How can you find one that is disease and parasite free? Even if you get a "clean" one can they still get those diseases and parasites and then transfer them?I really wanted to own one but since reading that i got really scared. I would really love your opinion and knowledge on this!

I've had one snail for a few months and recently added 2 more. Once I did, to no real surprise, we started seeing egg clutches. From what I can tell it's just one of the snails laying eggs, I'd seen her in the process a couple of times. Can it be harmful for her to lay eggs too frequently? It's happening every couple of days. I suppose if I separate all 3 to their own tanks for a bit, I can have an easier time identifying their genders. Two of them have darker bodies and it's wayyy harder for me to tell at this time.

Hi Lav, fellow snail lover here! My girl crawled out of the tank trying to lay a clutch of eggs and I found her the next morning on my floor (she was still alive, operculum was closed tightly. I plopped her back in a mini bowl with tank water and she came back out pretty quickly!!! The only thing is that she has a crack in her shell (no flesh showing thankfully) and her front part of her shell where she comes out is pretty jagged and looks sharp =( I want to file it down but I don't have a glass nail file atm and in the video you said you would explain later why glass files are better but you never got around to it (or im just dumb and missed it) Can you tell me why a glass one is preferable??? Would it be harmful to use another nail file like a metal one instead just for time being until I get a glass one? Sorry for the extremely long comment I just want to help my baby girl feel better <3 TYSM in advance! xoxoxo

were you ever able to fix up your snails shell?
@zeldagirl420
@zeldagirl420 14 күн бұрын
@@shyaa4297 to the best of my abilities yes and she seems to be doing good! I used one of those nail scissors (the tiny bent ones) and ending up just gently clipping across till it was even enough. Then I just used a metal file to file the edges gently just to get rid of the sharp edges, felt them get smooth enough. Then I submerged her with my hand and gently swirled her around so that any sharp metal wasn’t stuck to her shell (maybe that’s why she recommended glass) and she came out eventually (took her awhile but I’d be scared to lol) and she has recovered enough she even laid a huge clutch of eggs the next night!!! I was happy I got to help her after like an hour of surgery 😂 however her shell is still very brittle and peeling so I’m very gently with her and feeding her high calcium foods and good PH. Hopefully she’ll make a full recovery in time 😀
