Duckweed Snello

I made this recipe up on the fly!
My tanks have TONS of duckweed. It's everywhere, and Mystery Snails LOVE to munch on it! So I figured, why not mix up some Snello using duckweed as the main ingredient.
BAM! Duckweed Snello!
Worked out pretty well I thought and the brood seemed to enjoy it too! So, I thought I would share with all of you!

Duckweed, the gift that never stops giving! I never thought of feeding it in a snello paste! I just ground it up and froze it with some water with calcium added, and fed that to livebearers. Neat idea!

How many snails do you have in your tank? And what's the size? I'm obsessed with them!!! I have 20 in a 10 galon, water changes every 2 days but it worth it

Totally worth it! This tank is a 20g. At the time of filming there were approximately 300+ mysteries in there. Water change 50% every 3-4 days and yes ♡ Totally worth it ♡ give your brood a hug from me!

So only 2 months recommended for freezer storage? Thought it could last much longer as long as it was kept frozen.

It definitely probably could last longer in the freezer. 2 months is the longest I myself have kept and used it. It doesn't last that long in this house 🤣, gets eaten too quickly. Lol!

I have noticed on several occasions when I do large water changes even in my established tanks...(they are well planted, substrate atleast 3 inches, and been running for 5 months) my snails who are doing FABULOUS before hand close up and at one time it seemed liked they started to do a sneeze like motion then clamped shut REALLT tight. I have well water so no chroline and I use test strips as well for my water levels. So, what could this be? Have you incurred this behavior before. (and by the way each time I grab them ASAP and put them in another established tank....watch them very closely and they start coming around and act naturally (it has taken 30min to 2 hours for them to do so though depending on the snail.) Sorry, this was very specific but I am just STUMPED! Oh, and I don't change my filter media at same time as water change that shouldn't be a contributor either and I use Seachem Stability each time for beneficial bacteria...etc.

This video is my end goal with my snail tanks 🥰😍🤩 we have 3 about to be 4. My question is, do you think a 40.gallon breeder is too big to house JUST snails? Will they get on fine in that size tank? My current tanks are a 20 gallon and 2 10 gallon set ups
