Bubblegum Crises OVAs are still in my top five anime of all time. I don’t care if the plot was incomplete or characters were missing backstory. The animation, music, sound, and cyberpunk dystopia was just peak for me as a kid in the 80s/90s and still holds up very well today. It even predicted boomers would be the cause of the futures problems!!! I listen to the soundtrack so much, even 30 years later after originally seeing it on VHS

I remember originally buying this series and many others on bootleg videos at comic book shows. They weren't dubbed or subbed but they were too good to care. Several years later of course they finally became available in the US and I have them all on VHS. What brought here today is the fact that Crisis is coming out on Blu-Ray in three days. Now younger viewers will get to experience this wonderful series.

I was actually at a large DC anime con, Katsucon, the year Ghost Stories was released by ADV. They had a special screening, and many were confused because they were not familiar with the franchise. It was explained that Ghost Stories did badly in Japan (the same story you told) and so the voice actors were told to do what they wanted. The biggest take away from the intro was we were told to hang around, you all are going to love this if you liked some other comedic anime (I can't remember the title). They were trying to sell this dub hard and won over the panel and, I'm guessing, sold a lot of dvds.

So where can you see the original uncensored episodes?

Ghost stories dub is kinda like if Hellsing ultimate abridged was the official dub. I wanna see what a faithful dub for ghost stories would be like because other than a few jokes I really don't care for it

7:03 - Her name wasn't "Jean". That's a masculine name. Her name was Jeanne Fránçaix. Tying Dana's character to Max and Miriya Sterling did give her some more gravitas, but it wasn't believable as the character of Nova Satori looked and sounds more like Miryia than Dana ever did.
