Bro I'm overwhelmed tbh and kinda unrelated but I feel you would know the answer, Do you think I should focus on completely grasping music theory before I try to make tracks? I get stuck a lot after writing like 8 bars etc and I think it really holds me back and if I could just improvise chords and melodies everything would be flowing but I fear that like if I completely focused on music theory for a month or so I would miss out on time that could be spent also learning sound design and mixing etc, do you think it's a worth sacrifice? How did you go about it as a producer yourself?
@tnkyyy
@tnkyyy 4 күн бұрын
hi there! no, I don't think you need a 'complete' grasp on music theory at all to make a good track. amazing musicians like Kate bush, tn-shi etc. all never learnt music theory :) HOWEVER I do definitely think it is worth looking at if you feel your melodies/chords or whatever are holding you back. and you don't need to focus 'completely' on it (that could actually be worse). I recommend that you learn it in the context of FL Studio if that makes sense. like when ur watching a video lesson pause it and try tapping in the notes or techniques that the videos talk about. I get what you mean about getting stuck after 8 bars... in my experience after copying the chord progressions/structure of other songs I got better at creating a whole song from a small idea. most of my songs started with 8 bars of a drop anyway :) as for me, studying and copying a lot of other songs (making straight ripoffs sometimes💀) helped me get my skills up. let me know if you have any more questions :)

@@tnkyyy Hi, This clears up so much, thank you ! And yeah the only tracks I've really ever completed were either following guides or like ripping off an arrangement and techniques / effects from an edm track and ripping the melody off from touhou etc 💀 How do you go about studying songs? For example I really like Rrhar‘il by Team Grimoire and there's sheets of it on musescore, would I just go bar by bar and like write out the progressions? Anything else important I should be doing? Or go completely by ear on maybe a simpler track and just remake it on FL? Ty again! Do you have a discord server btw?

Hi, i got the free Vital lead from the description i have a problem with it, sometimes it sounds different even though i used it in the same chord. Do you have an idea on how to fix that? I'm stell pretty new to FL studio😅 btw. i can't stop listening to this song you've made here xD
@tnkyyy
@tnkyyy 4 күн бұрын
hmm do you mean it sounds different to what it sounds like in the video? it could be the macro; try turning the knob at the top left of Vital and see if it fixes the sound. THANKS SO MUCH BTW !!! let me know if u have any more questions :)

@@tnkyyy No it does sound like in the video, what i mean is, i made a different chord progression and i have 2 of the same chord in there but for some reason one sounds different from the other and idk why😕

Really nice video bro, i have always wanted to create music and i need to do it before i die so, how do you recommend to learn the software? is i there any special advice to someone really wants to enter the edm music producer world?
@tnkyyy
@tnkyyy 3 ай бұрын
hi gerardo ! thank you for the kind words ^^ it's really exciting to hear that you wanna start making music !!!! my first piece of advice is to just use any tutorial to learn how to use fl studio - don't worry about looking for the best one, because they all talk about similar stuff.. however I recommend a channel called 'In The Mix' - he has lots of amazing videos and a playlist for people new to the software -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnWspHiQqMafd9E after that point, it's really about playing around and taking what inspires you (for me personally its music from the label MEGAREX and orchestral VGM) to encourage you to make music. the first year or 2 is the most enjoyable to make music as every one of your songs will be better than the last !!! my last piece of advice is that there's no way to 'get professional' quick, and as long as you keep enjoying it, don't worry about views or listen numbers :D if you use discord im in a community of musicians who are very beginner friendly that you can get helpful feedback from. my discord is 'tnky' if you have any questions :)

yes definitely !! most of the sounds are possible with MiniSynth as they are mostly simple (they are a sine sub bass, saw bass, detuned unison saw lead and supersaw stack as the main sounds alongside piano). I think you should be able to copy most the sounds :) You can find some good drum sample packs online; I recommend searching for KSHMR and VENGEANCE sample packs :) if you have any questions please feel free to ask !!
