I just got a 2006 wr450 and I realize my mistake. It is great condition from marketplace just too big. Would you recommend taking it to a dealership or a private seller to trade? I am looking for either a yz250fx or a wr250. I do have experience with manual quads and have a Sur Ron I’ve had for just over a year. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you

You usually can get a better price selling it private. Yeah both the YZ250FX and a WR250 are solid options the YZ250FX is more of a race bike so keep that in mind

@ I wanted to add more info to my below comment. Your video is very helpful but was hoping for a little more insight because of my additional weight. I was about to buy a 2024 WR250F at a discounted price but then discovered a 2024 YZ250FX marked down even more. I’ve learned through your website and this video that both bikes are good “all purpose” bikes if I’m correctly understanding. The Honda 250F and 250RX are available near me also. Thanks again.
@dirtbikesam17 күн бұрын
@@chadsmith5224 The WR250F is probably a less snappy version of the YZ250FX so I would probably start with that bike unless the deal on the YZ250FX is too good to pass up.

@@dirtbikesam I haven't sold it yet, but I did look up specs on the 250cc and they are about the same size/weight. I’ve had both bikes in Europe, wr250 and 250rx Red moto version. I used to be Yamaha guy, but jerky low rpm power and absolutely shitty starting, which I couldn’t fix even with the help of dealers, felt so annoying that rx is an easy choice for me. Rx suspension was tweaked only once and it serves now well everywhere from slow rocky terrain to motocross track. The advantages Yamaha seems to have will be outperformed by rx, when you start riding fast: eg better torque on low rpm didn’t matter much, because you anyway you need to rev these small 4-strokes.. If Yamaha could fix the issues, I could try them again

I got a Rwarr Mantis, & couldn't be more happy with it, for under $5k it comes faster than most the competitors, that'd you'd need to spend $4k+ in upgrades to match performance, it has real dirtbike rims, custom KKE suspension with 60lb steel internals with more travel, compared to its competitors, is 9.5kw, has a top speed of 55mph & gets there in 4 seconds. Use code: SHMANTIS to save $100

Obviously promoting a over priced KTM. Which in all fairness , dirt bikes have all gotten ridiculously over priced with electronics, starters, mapping, for something you're gonna beat the crap out of in the woods, none of that stuff is needed on a dirt bike.

I have ridden mx, hare scrambles, and gncc/woods races for over 25yrs.. I have owned and raced approx 15 different bikes of all makes, displacement, along with 2 stroke & 4 stroke, obviously as I started racing in 1992.. When I got back into racing vet/40+, I found I was struggling with too much power & weight.. Rode a friends CR125 built with good custom suspension, OMG, I fell in love again with lightweight bike that loves my style of riding.. After that ride in 2019, I found a barely used 2015 ktm 200.. and used xcw parts to turn it into the 200xcw that I always wished I could buy.. Its fucking amazing, perfect for my 215lb 6ft 1" ass to rip for hours in the woods.. I hate to admit that I prob have over $10k in the bike even after buying it used for $4800.. I'm keeping this one forever, no matter what.

I found this video because my Beta 390RRS is too powerful for me to learn obstacles, pivot turns, and other hard enduro on. Even on the lower map I find the throttle too sensitive to learn to wheelie and pivot on. Thanks for the free advice! I think I'll look towards the KTM150 XCW to learn these skills on and hopefully be able to transfer those skills to my 390. I love my 390, but I'm really trying to focus on skills. I'd love to try out a Beta X trainer too.
