Just curious where your beats are coming from? Awesome jam. I like your stuff, very much!
@electronictiger6 сағат бұрын
Thanks again Sandy, I appreciate hearing that! The beats are coming from the Elektron Analog Rytm MKII. It's partially on screen, bottom right. The 12 white/greenish squares. It's an incredibly powerful drum machine! Does that answer your question?

Very nice !! Do you remaster the song after the session ? It sounds really good.
@electronictiger12 сағат бұрын
Thank you MrBellagras! No, yes, kinda. I don't do a lot after the session. But I do spend quite a bit time before I hit record setting everything up. So when I'm playing it sounds pretty close to the final product. But there is definitely mixing & mastering involved.

So cool! Thanks! I'm finally getting to the point where I can almost speak the Electronic language enough to understand how to make music with these machines. I have a Edge, a WASP, the new Model 15, and the MAVIS. Now I just have to put them all together in a coherent way. I need some kind of different Drum machine, and a different way to control things, other than the Keystep 37.
@electronictigerКүн бұрын
Thanks Sandy! Sound's like an excellent collection of synths you've got there! How is the MAVIS? Yes, the Keystep can be a bit basic. There are plenty of excellent hardware sequencers on the market today. But they aren't exactly cheap. At the same time, it's at the heart of your setup. So it's worth finding one that does what you want, and investing in. Thanks again!

Super cool video, thanks! Great idea to comment as you play it. I experienced something similar regarding midi, Edge sequence playing random sounds from a drumpad and no way to define them. Still love it though!

Thank you Mysterloop! I'm happy to hear you like it. Yup, the midi implementation of the Edge is a bit weird. But it doesn't take anything away from how awesome it sounds. What a dirty belter of a track. The Rytm sounds nice in this jam, I for one am ALWAYS happy with a longer jam/track that builds and gets every drop out of it's ideas. I really think this channel deserves more love. Great stuff.
@electronictigerКүн бұрын
Thanks mate! I appreciate hearing that. I agree, the Rytm fits nicely in this. It took me nearly 2 years, but I finally feel like I've figured out that wonderful machine fit my music. Or my music that machine...? Anyway, thanks again!!

Weird thought, but you know when you put sand on a speaker driver and play frequencies that show harmonies in the sand as patterns - I wonder what this dissonant tones would look like as representations in sand. Random, I know. The whole jam puts me in mind of the sounds inside Skynet as it realises it can't win the war against humanity. Panicked mechanical screams. Enjoyed this a lot.
@electronictigerКүн бұрын
That's a good question. I don't know what dissonant sand patterns look like, either. But I am curious now, too! I like the idea of this being the soundtrack to a panicked Skynet. Now I can't shake the mental image of a bunch of T-800 without any living tissue running around shouting "Don't panic, don't panic!" like Corporal Jones in Dad's Army, if that means anything to you. lol Thanks again my friend for stopping by. Always appreciated!

not even sure you can have loudness AND dynamics……Loudness will be too loud for any dynamics, and dynamics will be too quiet for loudness…..if it were possible, it may be easier in atmos mixing, but stereo mixes cant have both dynamics and loudness. At least thats what mastering engineers say so ive read and watched. Great track as always though brother 😎👍🏻
@electronictigerКүн бұрын
Thanks TechnoAssassin! Sorry for the delay in replying brother. You're probably right about incompatibility of dynamics and loudness. Or at least if you want to get really loud. Then the dynamics will go away for sure. But I'm sure someone more skilled that I am could push my music a bit further without sacrificing too much dynamics. For example, and this is a bit of an unfair comparison, maybe, as it's a very different genre. Lots of distorted guitars instead of techno. If you listen to Mick Gordon's track Rip & Tear. From the 2016 Doom game soundtrack. That track is LOUD! But surprisingly dynamic, given how loud and in your face it sounds. When I measure my official download FLAC, It's only 3dB louder than my music. Sounds way louder than that. Or sticking with techno, if you listen to the most recent tracks by Voiski. That stuff pounds way harder than my stuff. But measures in at the same level as my music. So there are definitely things that I can do better than I'm currently doing. Just need figure out how to improve them, lol. If you don't know Voiski, check out his Raqs EP. I think you'll dig it! And thanks again for your thoughts brother!

your channel is pretty cool. im tring to figure out which synths to get and which sequencer. im a noob.. i only have volca bass and fm so far. i want to get some of these: kobol, pro-1, pro800, edge, crave, 2600.. and a sequencer..
@electronictiger9 күн бұрын
Thanks Ventzovv! That's an excellent start for a synth collection. Many years ago I started with a MS-20mini. And slowly acquired all the gear I have now. Even the simplest dumb sequencers aren't cheap. Want a sequencer that can do fancy things it gets expensive real quick. So thoroughly investigate what you need. The Beatstep and Keystep Pro by Arturia are good. And if you want something with more features the Oxi One or the Squarp Hapax look really cool!! But there is nothing wrong with controlling your synths via midi from your computer. Something like Ableton Live can launch midi clips.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6aognaor7mYa7s - which synth is this beautiful sound?
@electronictiger9 күн бұрын
That's the Pro-1 with some effects to give that magical quality. It's going through a pitch shifter an octave down, a long delay and a massive reverb. Does that help?
@ventzovv9 күн бұрын
@@electronictiger thank you. I was going to go for the Pro-1 recently but with Pro800 as another good option I’m not sure - They sound similar when you put the Pro800 in mono mode.

@@electronictiger thank you! I was going to go for the Pro-1 recently but now I’m wondering if it’s not better to get the pro800. They sound similar. I also have a copy of the arturia keystep - behringer swing.
@electronictiger9 күн бұрын
@@ventzovv You're welcome. The Pro-1 has a few more Eurorack compatible connectors. So if you plan on using CV/Gate to trigger your synth you need the Pro-1. If you're planning to control things via midi anyway, I'd go for the Pro-800. Like you said, they sound very similar. And the 8 voice analog polyphony at that price is insane! On a side-note, I highly recommend playing polys with a midi keyboard rather than sequencing them. Then their magic truly shines. Edit: Not that there is anything wrong with sequencing it. Just when you play chords by hand, your human timing imperfections make it come alive.

That’s way to much reverb on the kick, otherwise it’s a dope jam 😊
@electronictiger7 күн бұрын
Thanks Tomax! By modern standards there is definitely too much reverb on the kick. Go back 30 years, and it's a lot more common to have reverb drenched kicks. That's the stuff I grew up on / like and the style I was going for with this jam. So I'm happy with how it sounds. Nonetheless I sincerely appreciate your feedback. A lot of my other jams have way drier sounding kicks.Anyway, thanks again!

@electronictigerАй бұрын
@@brawndothethirstmutilator9848 The Edge and the Grind are very different beasts.
@electronictigerАй бұрын
@@brawndothethirstmutilator9848 The Edge is a drum/percussion synth. The Grind is just a monophonic synth with a sequencer. The grind has digital oscillators and the Edge has analog ones. So you can get very different tones out of them. So if you want to do something melodic, the Grind is the more obvious choice. If you want crunchy analog beats, the Edge would be the logical choice. Though you can squeeze out all manner of cool sounds out of the Grind, too.

Gotta look into flanger\phaser stuff a bit better as well though, the Zoom MS 70CDR has got some but it felt a bit underwhelming at a first glance. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration!
