Say what you want but i think the girl who played Lucy has a great pitch!

this version of the musical a lot better then the Broadway one. at least Lucy's voice is not annoyed and squeaky in this one.

Àlëx Jàmës Àçëvëdø the thing is her annoying voice was intentional. When she says "I think the way you play the piaaaaaano is nice", she'd supposed to be screaming in his face. It's really funny. Yeah on the soundtrack it's annoying but on stage it's hilarious.

It’s supposed to be an annoying voice, they’re little kids, they can’t sing 😆

@@mattrobledo4871 Yeah that was a hard one for me too. I managed to pull it off though in the musical I just did this summer!

My choir's going to state this year with this song and this is an amazing version of this piece. I love the dynamics on the "rains" and good sound. Only thing that could have used some work was the placement of your voices to make it sound more authentic, but otherwise it was amazing.

My school is doing this play, and i'm glad we are not the only ones who feel like Lucy's singing doesn't have to naggy. Our Lucy has an absolutely beautiful voice and she actually gets to show it off a bit in some of her solos like this one. Why would we want to ruin it? She's funny enough as a naggy CHARACTER. She doesn't have to be a naggy SINGER too.

What!? I disagree with some of these comments.. This Schroeder should NOT be on Broadway! He can't even hit the high notes, and when he lets his black friend bail him out it sounds OK at best, but even the black kid is WAY off key at 1:45 when he sings "We'll throw a party". It made me cringe.

Only by being in this play an singing this song at the end of the show can you understand why Lucy looks like she is about to cry at the end. I'm playing Lucy right now and I get emotional every time we sing this song. It's so powerful after you've been with a cast so long.

We sang this for the ASU leadership choir. I was a bass. Best part of the song is how low the bass gets and the sopranos get so high
