Nice, comprehensive video tutorial. I do enjoy your vids and have gotten nice bits of information from them due to how thorough you research and explain things. Good job. My only complaint is that it's not pronounced "Ubuntu Matay", but "Ubuntu Mate". I get that the UK has it's own thing, but Matay is not correct. It is Mate (like you call your friend. Ay, mate?). I know in the UK you also call it a rooter, but the rest of the English-speaking world calls it a router (rowt-er). Isn't it fun to be able to have multiple pronunciations of the same word? I point these out so that people outside the UK use it properly. If I get a customer ask about a suggestion for a rooter, I refer them to a plumber, or maybe a landscaper.

Hi just wanted to clarify, as it's been some time since your video, 3 years, I have just been on the zoneminder site, it says free, as per your content here, but it also shows paid services on the site, can you confirm these are not necessary please?

I thought ventoy had it's own hash checker, but that may be a recent feature It was very simple to use the linux version as it supports all OS including windows I know that ubuntu is now bundled with Windows as a possible VM, so that may work to make the ventoy instance as I run debian itself. Debian is much more stable than Ubuntu or Arch

ventoy downloads itself into hidden partition and it took a lot of sweat to remove it, also windows 11 request secure boot. In my case ventoy blocked all my USB ports from booting my PC from USB. There are many others with same issues. So take it for what it is.

you video was extensive and very informative. I ran into one issue that I cannot seem to resolve. Maybe you can help. Despite your warning I attempted to install the lxde desktop gui. A reboot opens the screen to enter the password. Doing that results in a message stating "failed to start session". How do I get rid of this and just boot to the terminal?

Dude, no joke...your video has helped me to understand more about Linux than I've been able to pick up googling and experimenting the last 20 years. You are an excellent teacher. Good pace, good explanations, good attention to detail and explaining those details. ALL tutorial videos should be like this one. Great work.

Hugely helpful channel. Trying to implement to give desktop PC a Static IP (ethernet connected.)The need for this arises as my new ISP uses a dynamic connection, this has caused a problem for online banking security systems that look for a static IP. Will identifying PC in router with network adapter MAC and outside DHCP scope fix this I wonder?

It is a great video for somebody who has some experience in using and administering Linux, but for somebody who has no experience at all it might confirm what is still being said: Linux is for geeks, for nerds, people who love the terminal. You give so much info in such a short time, typing this command, clearing the screen, typing that command. It goed all so fast that it might be overwhelming. For me, since I know pretty much all you explained already, this video is a great way to consider running a server myself. Since I run Fedora, I will also use fedora server, but that's beside the point I tried to make. As I said at the beginning, it is a great video, thanks for that.
