Extensive setup video that any one can use as a guide to setup their own gear. Very wide range of applications demonstrated with key hints. However, Ms Word can open ODF files and we should encourage it's use by just giving ODF files to others and have them experience Ms Word opening it. It has changed a few people I know of their perception of Ms Word and the file format scenario.

I just discovered your channel thanks to the mysterious algorithm of KZbin. I was looking for “parkour” sport examples. The Pi 4+ 8GB is the single board computer that I use. Nothing special but interesting. So I decided to watch your video and it is very good. I learned stuff I never saw before or didn’t know existed. It is really a shame you don’t have more subs. You truly deserve them. You do put a lot of effort in your videos. For the coming days I know what videos to I’m going to watch. Regarding your amount of subscribers. Maybe you could watch some videos on how to optimise your front page, your title and your comments for KZbin’s algorithm and on how to attract viewers. I don’t want to criticise your work. It works for me 100% but I was darned lucky to end here. Can’t wait for your new videos and I want to thank you for the work and time you put into your videos. Take care and kind regards from a new subscriber from Belgium . 🇧🇪 Again, thank you 😊!

Brilliant form start to end, thank you for doing this. Twister is a great fun OS and this is a great way to set it up although I have done it on a 128gb Micro SD everything so far still runs really well. Interesting point - I downloaded Twister V2 and set it up on a Pi400. All was great until I switched to Win 10 mode. It did its reboot and all I got was a black and white flashing screen. Rebooting got me no where just the same screen. Put it in a Rasp 4b and it booted into Win 10 with no issues so swapped it back to Twister OS and it works on the 400 again.

You're most welcome. Yes, I saw that Twister OS had an x86 compatible version available. I believe that, unlike the Raspberry Pi release, you have to start with a base operating system first (as you rightly say, Xubuntu - apparently you can use Linux Mint as well, in its XFCE edition), and then install the Twister OS package on top of it. It's probably a bit soon to be looking at Twister OS again right now - even on a different base. Plus, I have several ideas for the next few videos I'm trying to create. That said, it could well be worth revisiting Twister OS in this form at some point in the future. Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.

My pleasure. Twister OS is available for PC, but (unlike the Pi version) unfortunately it's not supplied as a downloadable image. Instead you install it on top of an existing Linux Operating System, which makes the process a little less straight forward. I've already had a viewer enquire about the possibility of a set up video for this. Unsurprisingly, Twister OS seems to be rapidly growing in popularity. Now that I've received a couple of comments regarding putting it on a PC/laptop, I may cover this sooner than originally planned - so stay tuned! Thanks for your feedback.

Useful tip for Linux users that might stumble into too large program windows that doesn't fit your resolution. If you don't want or can't change resolution and you can't ie. see bottom confirmation/next etc. button that you know that is down there, but not visible. Do following: Press left Alt key and drag wanted window. This way you can grab where ever of the window and move it past UI borders. This works on pretty much on all of the UI's for Linux.

If you're trying to add a bluetooth device to Twister OS, it should be fairly straightforward. Look in "Settings" and open the "Bluetooth Manager". From there, click "Search" and, providing the bluetooth device in question is set to discoverable mode, it should appear within a few seconds. Once it's visible, select it and click "Setup". This will open the "Bluetooth device setup assistant", which is a wizard to help us make the connection. Choose "Pair Device" and click "Next". If it's a keyboard or mouse that you're connecting, go with "Human Interface Device Service (HID)". Finally, click "Next" again and you should be good to go :)

The default Chromium web browser should take care of most of your streaming needs. You could also use the KZbin web app if you prefer. @bytemypi2918
@bytemypi2918 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't personally noticed any screen tearing, but I'll try and suggest some potential fixes. First, check that you're running the latest version of Twister OS: Application menu - System - Twister OS Patcher. Note. In the latest version of Twister OS (2.0.1), Chromium Media Edition has been removed, as it's no longer needed since the standard Chromium browser now has native Widevine support. If that doesn't help, open the Terminal (Application menu - System - Xfce Terminal) and type: sudo raspi-config From the menu that opens, navigate to "Advanced Options", then to "GL Driver. From there, select the "G2 GL" driver and then "OK". Next navigate back into "Advanced Options" and this time into "Compositor". When it asks if you would like to enable the "xcompmgr manager" select "No" and then "OK". From there choose "Finish" and then type "sudo reboot" (without the quotes) and press Enter to restart the Pi. Hopefully this will help with the issue you're having :)

Hi, I think the way 'My Android' is set up, it requires a USB cable between the Pi and the Android device. However, 'scrcpy' (the tool it uses behind the scenes) supports TCP/IP, so if you were to give the Android device a static IP, and run the program directly (e.g. by writing a short shell script), it should be possible to make a wireless connection. If you'd like to investigate more about what's possible with scrcpy, it's worth taking a look at the github repository: github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy There's even a wireless section on the linked page! Good luck :)

@@bytemypi2918 Here's the way I see overclocking on the Pi4. 1. overclocking the pi4 makes it a nicer experience to use. 2. I've overclocked the entire time I've owned each Pi4, 3 of them. Each one took a little more OC than the last and the OS's changed to allow the OC's. 3 The Foundation itself did the overclock on the PI400, so if you wanted to be safe about it OC under what the Pi foundation itself OC's. Base that on the model you have too. So, my earliest Pi4 will not do 2300. It will do 2100-2200, happily, all the time, depending on the OS and cooling. 4. Depending on the OS, Twister OS OC all the way is fine. Android 9 and 11 work better OC to 2000 no matter the model. 5. It's a waste not to OC for retro gaming and desktop stuff like watching KZbin. If one of my Pi4's ever blows up I'll just get another and still OC. I usually OC fresh installs before the first run, so I don't have to watch it go slow ever. If you're the nervous type with OC, go slow incremental, run it for awhile with the settings, see what it does with games or heavy tasks. Then push it harder til it cuts out and then back it off, or adjust over_voltage and try again. Make sure you have more than one card with a working OS in case it won't boot on a setting.

@@bytemypi2918 Ok tx! 👨‍💻 That could explain my issues with Rpi 4 on Fedora 34 for a bit. First the update after the initial install broke the touchscreen functionality, no screen no touch. I filed a bug report about that and that got an "Orphan" status. Then I looked into it myself and found out that some updated rpi 4 binaries in the /boot/efi directory were causing this, so I resetted those, and that fixed the problem. See here : bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1954182 But next, after the latest update to also the 5.12.x kernel the touchscreen and USB functionality are broken again... so no screen and no keyboard... Resetting "upstream-Rp4" to "upstream" in /boot/efi/config.txt fixes the touchscreen again but the USB problem appears to be kernel related because booting kernel 5.11 x restores the USB... So I was kind of wondering where all this is coming from, and nobody is responding neither on Fedora and the Raspberry pi forum.. So if this all depends on the Raspberry Pi foundation binaries where as you say the 64 bit version is not stable yet, that could explain this....

@bytemypi2918
@bytemypi2918 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, that's quite the compliment. The LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) stack itself doesn't require much in the way of resources at all. It's more about what you intend to run using this set up. For example, a Pi Zero will run LAMP quite happily, and can be very useful for testing purposes. However, if you were hoping to run something like Nextcloud and want multiple users to comfortably access the system simultaneously, you'd probably want hardware with a little more horsepower (unless you want lots of users, a Pi 4 should be more than up to the job). Often the biggest limitation of the Pi Zero is the 512MB of RAM (and the fact that it's only a single core CPU). I hope this answers your questions and helps you choose which device to use.
