P.S. Any Lightfoot tune will get you there. The man never produced a single clunker. Just one great song after another. RIP Lightfoot.

The joke is that the Canadians are always sure to bring the Geneva checklist when they go to war 😂

Bless your heart for speaking so clearly and eloquently. I'm normally so at a loss with your accent, I have to resort to subtitles. Yours is most delightful! Dropped in for the song, stayed for the nice young man! I thoroughly enjoyed your video! Well done, lad. Subbed!

If you want to see a darker version of this, where nominally allied forces actually turned against one another, lookup the Battle of Brisbane; Battle of Manners Street; Battle of Bamber Bridge; and the Townsville mutiny.

My great great uncle, Fredrick Gutormson, landed at Juno Beach on D day. He was in the second wave and part of an anti-tank gun crew. I don't remember the unit he was in. He fought bravely for the first year after D day but after being twice wounded by grenades going off near his head, while dragging wounded comrades to safety, and loosing his hearing, he was sent back to England to do homefront guard for the rest of the war before returning home. His brother Heinrich was shot down over Hamburg and didn't make it home. Their sister Helga was my great-grandmother.

Someone has referenced Come From Away. I saw production of it in Toronto. Just an FYI, if you haven't seen it, it's in three parts here on KZbin. Your reaction was so sincere and genuinely touching. Thank you!

We Canadians are VERY Scotish. My grand father was Roy Maud. RCAF gunner and stationed in Scotland during WW2 hunting U-Boats and coastal patrol. His uncle led a failed cavalary charge on the German lines in WW1. They were hard core Scots in every way. Now its mixed with my French Canadian blood. Vikings and Gauls!!! Loved your reaction.

Yes, a strong Scottish tradition in Canada. My mother's people, the Dunning family came to Canada in 1776 from the USA and where known as United Empire Loyalists. They settled around the Ottawa area and built farms. In those days the Ottawa valley was covered in Oak, Beech, Maple and Elm forests whose trees had trunks that were up to 8 feet in diameter! All these were felled by sweat and shear muscle power, by hand saw, and their great stumps removed by teams of oxen and draft horses aided by primitive mechanical devices. They cleared the land, tilled the soil, planted crops and built the roads, canals, railways, the grist mills, towns and cities. BUT NOW we evil 'white' people are blamed as the root of all the nation's woes! What a load of crap!
