Don't mind sayin, for as much people said the first seasons were done on a low budget and without much backing...everyone, right down to the techies and production crew...nailed it. For a rural/suburban Michigan guy that was first generation raised off a farm and lived in a world of cliques made of jocks, hicks, druggies and nerds...Letterkenny was an instant favorite. I hadn't heard of it till a friend called me and said I was like Wayne back when I was in my 20s (I was a nice guy but I used to fight at the drop of a hat until I calmed down in my 30s). One watch later I couldn't get enough. Well done, man! Many thanks to all of you that brought us so much laughter.

With Letterkenny, what kills me, is to hear my local accent on screen. It's an emphasized one, for sure, but the quirks in turns of phrase, such as erroneous plurals done by Squirrelly Dan, are real things that people do around here. Letterkenny is based off a small town about 40 mins from me called Listowel. The chirping (insults) are common, as since we don't have too much to do, we play with language as a way to pass the time... But the plurals thing, I was at a funeral for the grandmother of one of my inlaws, and her grandson was giving a really lovely eulogy, and I had to bite the inside of my cheek because all I could hear was a very heartfelt Squirrelly Dan. My favourite part of Letterkenny is the fact that I got my American pal more hooked on it than I am. lol

when I first saw this intro my reaction was like so many people: "WHAT. IS. THIS?!?!?!?!!?" And I was addicted instantly. Letterkenny is, like so many comedies playing on exaggerated stereotypes, in this case of rural Ontario/Canada - but depending on where you go, it's not by that much - it's pretty funny how so many of these are pretty close to reality. They've just packaged the dialogue into some Shakespeare, Drake, and the Trailer Park Boys had an illegitimate love child.

Letterkenny is genuinely one of the best comedies to come out of Canada in the last decade at least. I'm from Ontario Canada, very close to where this town is based on, Listowel, Ontario. Their speech is pretty near (prit'neer) spot on. A greeting: "Howr ya now?" "Not se bad." There is a dialect which spans parts of Michigan, around the Great Lakes. It's called Yoopers (from Upp-P, Upper Peninsula) and it's similar in parts of Ontario as well, even parts of Minnesota. These characters in Letterkenny sound a lot like that. Another example of Yoopers speech - The character Pickles, from the animated show Metalocalypse. Check that out.

Letterkenny is a great show, and it’s easy to get through because there’s only 6 episodes per season plus a holiday special. It does get a little one-note at certain points because everything is written in Jared Keeso’s voice. (Keeso plays Wayne and Shoresy). Still definitely worth the time investment, though. The last season of Letterkenny dropped last Christmas. The third season of the spinoff show Shoresy drops either the end of May on CraveTV in Canada and the end of June on Hulu

Letter Kenny gives me Napolean Dynamite vibes at times but even better as the wit is unmatched, the show writers are amazing.

Yes, growing up in small town Ontario in the 1990’s these were the social groups I experienced. Watching this for the first time was pretty surreal.

OK, so, something you need to understand about Canada: We have a lot in common with Scots, because a lot of us have Scottish heritage. 1/4 of the kids in my class had Mc and Mac last names. My own great grandmother moved to Canada from Glasgow as a teenager. I knew her, long enough that I was just tall enough to be a pallbearer. She was the kindest person I've ever met, but with a razor tongue. Xmas dinner after 3 glasses of gin, she nearly goaded the biker gang member my aunt was married to into punching an 86 year old woman. My money was on her winning the fight. The other Scots I've met in my travels, we get along because of this: We'd rather make you feel 10' tall with words, insulting you for fun while building you up... but, if that's not enough, or you take it the wrong way, and you want to throw hands, beware, someone will need medical attention when the dust settles. Do Trailer Park Boys next. It's filmed in "New Scotland".
