Before I sold my CEM26, having to plug my mini pc in into the hand controller was definitely annoying and I had to figure out how to just tie it to the mount or the scope or somewhere so it won't get in the way. I would also highlight that the iOptron's ascom driver is neither my favorite interface

Thanks for this, Shawn! I'm interested in bringing out the emission nebulae in galaxy images. Can you suggest a method to isolate only the nebulae in an Ha master so as to avoid giving a reddish tint to the overall RGB image? Thanks!

@josephhoener5764 Hi Joseph. Thanks for the comment. I can suggest a method. It would be easier via email though. Are you able to email me? [email protected]

DONT buy this. The only somewhat stable connection I can get is when it is directly connected to my PC. Doesnt work with USB hub on the ioptron CEM70, or the hub on my Camera. Doesnt even work on the Powerbox 3 hub. Im using the cable provided by the vendor. I have tried other cables that work with the EAF and have the same problems so it is not related to the cables.

Great video I’d like to know how did you use the point on graxpert I don’t crop the image for combination reasons on Adobe Photoshop cannot use AI because of that. I have to do it manually, but I’m not sure how many points I should use.

Thanks for this. I was so pleasantly surprised by GraXpert on all fronts. For those of us who are disinclined to use PixInsight, there really isn't anything like it.

There’s actually a logic to not including that power cable. In my case I am actually am using a modified xtc connector that feeds into my mount and not into a power brick. initially, I had the same thoughts as you, but then I realized that there are other use case scenarios.

Any idea how to do this with dithered data? I accidentally dithered my exposures so my comet doesn't move in a straight line 😕

Thanks exactly what I was looking for. Your experience and confidence in sky flats helps me feel better about moving to using them as I move to have my scopes hosted at a remote observatory.

SPCC didn't work for me until I learned on one of the PI forums that it needs to be the very first step in your workflow after combining channels into a color image -- no BlurX or NoiseX. My problem was that I was receiving an error message saying that data was insufficient -- 0 points were seen while at least 5 were required. SPCC couldn't recognize stars in the image.

@josephhoener5764 yupper! That is correct. Unfortunately there are youtube channels now that are showing people how to do it wrong. I would mention names but I won't to be respectful.

I would caution people on this product, especially if you have a Mele Quieter 4C. Ive had a number of issues with it: - sometimes doesnt appear as a device, and needs to be powered off and on again. Not a massive issue but annoying. - I have issues with running the UPB plugged into the USB alongside my mount. It causes the mount to disconnect and kills tracking. - If you have a focus cube 3 connected to the UPB, it will occationally disconnect. This occured when I was attempting to update the firmware on the FC, and it bricked the Cube. I was able to restore it, but the advice from the vendor was to just connect the FC to my PC and not use the UPB. I have a good quality 20A power supply and have never had any issues with the cables used - cables for the UPB and FC where the ones supplied by the vendor. In the end I would NOT recommend it or the FC.

Thanks for another of your super tutorial videos Shawn. I have an image of the Cygnus Loop taken first with a one shot colour camera and then decided to add an Ha component from a mono camera. Will it be possible to use your method here in the same way to add the two images together, if you have time to answer I would appreciate it ? The game mask is just what I’m looking for, have you a video about how to create such a mask please?

@davebillybish there's actually better ways now to add in Ha to OSC. It would be easier to explain via email or zoom call. Feel free to get in touch [email protected]

I've stacked up to 50 hours of data over multiple nights and used the same calibrations from for all of them and came out with fantastic images. Is this really necessary? Does it make a different in the final product?
