I've noticed there have been a lot of usability improvements, moving things from from using Hex to the graphical UI. I've also seen new items like the "disable adaptive transmission" added to the UI. I do agree, there haven't been significant changes, but the software on the trucks hasn't changed, so it isn't like you can access more.

Thanks for saving me $500. Dealer quoted me 550 but i bought the Osram lamp for 52 on amazon, done in under one hour. I am not DIY friendly person. Two notes of caution 1) my car is 10 year old so the clips to remove front cover were breaking. 2) new lamp has a rubber base instead of metal. Which made it difficult to twist and snap in position. Awkward lamp position did not allow enough torque from hand so I ended up using wrench. Yes wrench, and it worked like a charm.
@SmackeysGarage7 күн бұрын
Glad to hear I could help and save you some money! Those are good notes for people who attempt this project. I've heard a few people that said the clips to remove the front cover are breaking. Probably worth replacing those when time allows for it. Interesting you used a wrench to get it turned in place. Glad to hear it worked!

@@jrr7031 Nice! Enjoy it they are great cars. I'd suggest a tracking system for the car. Even something as simple as an air tag is good. Could also take out the rotor out of the distributor when you park if you want extra security. People don't typically carry those around.

I have the rear seat pull and the weather tech floor mats, definitely a good choice. For me another must do would be seat covers. As far as the phone mount, I know there are a few companies that make a plate that bolts into the little dash cubby where the speaker is, so you can attach a phone mount. I like the fridge, but I have the center console gun safe, so I’d have to remove that.
@SmackeysGarage9 күн бұрын
Seat covers sound like a great idea. I should probably do that with the dog and the child... They definitely spend their time making a mess of my truck. Good call on the center console safe. Thanks for commenting and sharing!

For the WeatherTech floor mats, were they slippery when your feet were wet from snow or rain?

@SmackeysGarage10 күн бұрын
Usually if it is when you turn left... you are loading up the right side and it is the right wheel bearing. It is very hard to tell and I've been wrong about 50% of the time though.... I'd suggest doing them both.

i apprentice the video its been helpful, but one of my triple square bolts also stripped, anyway you can explain your process of taking that bolt out a little more? you broke off that corner and drilled into it until it came loose?
@SmackeysGarage11 күн бұрын
Yea. I ended up using a cutoff wheel and cutting off the ear of the bearing. Since the bolt screws into the bearing, if I could completely cut that part off and destroy that part of the screw and threads, I was able to turn it with very little resistance (since there was very little/no threads left). I started by drilling into the bolt, but probably could have just went straight into the cutoff wheel.
@massman121611 күн бұрын
@@SmackeysGarage yeah i did get the other 3 out and i noticed how rusted the bolts are at the end but the rest of it seem perfect, ill try to cut that ear off tomorrow and hopefully it wont be hard to get out, getting the bolts off from pretty much every part of this process has been a pain and thanks for the response

I admit that the heads-up display looks interesting. And that cooler is (i dont know for sure, but i bet it's) thermoelectric. They dont get cold enough, i do hvac for a living, and proper refrigeration storage temps are 34-38* F. Those coolers struggle to get below 50 ish deg F. Close enough for sodas on a hot day, but that's about it. My dog will disagree with that under seat storage bin, needs room to lay down on the floor but it appears handy for someone who might want one. Oh, and my sub makes the tunes better than hiding a few trinkets behind the seat. Honestly, the stock radio in my XLT sounded like crap with no base, all mids and highs, no low to speak of.
@SmackeysGarage12 күн бұрын
The cooler is actually a refrigeration system (with compressor). It does get really cold. I measured it at 35*F. I did a full video on it. I hear you on the dog, but we have a smaller one so he's pretty good and wants to hang gout on the seats rather than the floor. Also, I agree with you on the XLT audio. It really isn't good. I want to rip out all my speakers and start over....
