Let's get the rest of the 1969 Mustang rear seats back together! I bought some Andover Restraints seat belts (made in the USA) to install on the rear seats of my Mustang. I also got the correct rear seat panel which we are going to install on the fold down seat. I also am going to install all the rest of the rear panels and drill where necessary to get everything to line up right.
The good news is everything went together great and the rear seats are installed with new seat belts. Still... not much room to sit back there though!
The 1969 Mustang Restoration continues!

These are the kinds of projects that are always on the bottom of the list because they're not glamorous, but it sure does feel good to have them done. :)

Yes it does! Also I learned I’m to tall to ever sit back there

Great video, I'm using this as a reference to put the back of my 70 Fastback together. Thank you

That’s great to hear! That’s pretty much the main purpose of all my 69 Mustang videos. Thanks for watching!

I have this same dilemma with my 73 Mach 1. I have to try that VLR product. Thanks for the tip! There are so many things that you have to address when restoring a car. Those tabs on the seat are a perfect example. How do they go? Hopefully you know someone who has a car like yours or the internet covers it. Thanks for another great show. I like your shorter format. I am more likely to spend the time watching a 10 minute show than a 45 minute show that I will fast forward at some parts because I just don't have the time. I also like the focus on similar subject like the seats and seatbelts. Keep going! One day I would like you to do a review of all the things you did to get you where you are at? What mods were worth it and what were not. Great episode today!!!

Thanks for all the great feedback! I’ve been very happy with VLR on seats and the dash pad on the car. Does a nice job keeping it in good condition. Those tabs on the seat were pretty easy to back in. I was able to fix the bent one but still some work to do. All the brackets drilled pretty nicely and all the screws lined up perfectly now. Glad to hear you like the shorter videos. I’ve been trying to document some of the smaller and more nuanced steps so others that are restoring it have more detail in the future.

I would suggest you use SEM color coat on that back seat. The black is faded quite a bit. Use the SEM soap which has tiny abrading particles, to scrub the whole seat, then spray some Landeau black on it. 2 thin coats is all that's neeed. It will look brand new, and is very durable. Used that on my dad's 67 white and blue interior 12 years ago and they still look just like they did 12 years ago.

Thanks for sharing. Much appreciated. Keep the content coming. Looking good. Those seat beats you can't really tell the difference from the OEMS unless you look really hard. Hope you have an incredible weekend

The upholstery for those seats is available. You can also get the foam backing if that has deteriorated too much box of hog rings and hog ring pliers and you can have a new seat in an hour or 2.

Do you have a source for them? I'm looking for something OEM looking.

@SmackeysGarage I Googled "1969 mustang seat upholstery " there are several places that pop up. ProFit Auto Interiors had one that looks the most like what you have in the car. CJ Pony Parts has several that pop up also. When I redid mine quite a few years ago, I got the matching upholstery from Dallas Mustang. It was a pretty simple process to install.

It is a good and bad thing the lower rear seat is tough to get out. Harder to slip out of place accidently

She is looking good. Those new belts look like the ones in my 67. They might have modeled them on an older design is my guess.

Thanks and that is interesting to note. Probably did on an older tool. Happy with the way they look.
