Hi John, I am looking to do something similar to what you did in your video "Easy Text Effect: Highlight and Zoom text in a Book!". But instead of highlighting a few words, I'm wanting to highlight the text by darking the text around what I want to focus on and then make the bright text grow in the frame. FYI I'm a beginner to Davinci so any navigational tips would be much appreciated. THanks John. 🙂

Would be really neat if like the OLD Lantastic Perier to Pier LAN system made one computers Designated Folders on the Main computer accessible from all other Computers on the Network. i.e. The main computer served as the Davinci Library for all Computers. Windows or Macs

Sure, this could be set up as a windows share or samba share. You are right, it’s the best configuration.

For anyone watching five years later lol, Resolve is designed to use both your GPUs without SLI. It actually uses only one GPU with SLI enabled, so don't! I'm still flying through renders with two 1080tis.

My main objective is to minimize the risk of work being lost when a team member's PC encounters issues, while also enabling real-time collaboration. I’m in the early stages of researching this and trying to determine if it’s possible for multiple people to edit a timeline simultaneously in DaVinci Resolve (non-Studio version). I noticed the text at 5:45 mentioning "read-only," which suggests that simultaneous editing on the same timeline might not be feasible. Is this correct? If so, would the best solution be to connect Google Drive (likely via the desktop application) to DaVinci Resolve and save projects directly to Google Drive?

It’s does. Mine is rack mounted in a ventilated closet and always one. Truthfully it could be a raspberry pi if you found the right combination of OS and arm kernel.

Man I wish I could pay you to set me up with a good divinci set up.I have wanted to upgrade for 12 years...I'd like to go through puget but maybe it's not worth it...There's just so much much bs knowledge and when they do make the software working great in DaVinci then it seems like they nerf it.....The options are just so overwhelming.I like using alot of effects in my video edits....All this was done on a 2002 dell laptop haha...The music is blah but you get the idea how I like efx.

@@johnsfilmsllc Ya man it took a long time but that's kinda of the style I like editing. Craig Baldwin is a interesting fellow who got me into what I call High Paced editing~ But to me whats crazy is i could have 45 to 65 efx and 800 plus cuts/4 stacked layers on the timeline and not even haft to render the timeline to see what a new adjustment aka edit looked like on playback. With WIndows 7/16 gigs of ram and a i7/2860qm and it would run fine. There was something pretty awesome about the Filmora version 8.5.3 until they nerfed it.Arrrgh...I will send you a email for sure. Today Im gonna call Puget systems and see what builds are still possible with Windows 10.... I'm really not a fan of Windows 11 not giving you a option to turn Co pilot off////Thank you John I will be in touch soon .

i have been learning editing for 2 days now and im trying to edit my own stream, but i dont understand much about the topic nor program davinci, so i need some helprelated to this video.In my case i just need the first part where i put the video (in my case its a gif) in a thought bubble and after i do the fusion clip and go to the fusion tab it doesnt have the merge1, so i right clicked the fusion clip, clicked reset fusion composition (dont ask me the reason) and sudenly i have 5 media where 4 are just a black screen and 1 which is the real clip and 5 merges. when i tried to work with it i got something super stupid... the center of the fusion clip is playing inside the thought bubble,. when i searched for more i got a little bit closer. now i just have the result i have is: the fusion clip as background, the thought bubble and the gif are seperate (dont know how to fix it) and the graph is super confusing, it doesnt make any sense. im really sorry about the long text, i just dont know what is important to explain in this situation.

I’d add a USb drive to one and share it across the network to the other. Would only work if you were going to leave it turned on all the time but significantly cheaper than buying a storage array. Your other option is cloud providers but that can come with its own challenges and slow replication

@ It will run separate from any Resolve Server though it could be on the mini if it’s the one that will always be on. If you are going to be editing on the “main” computer I’d keep the footage on it. The Resolve Project server does not need access to the source footage to operate

I don't know why this isn't working for me. I have project server installed on one windows 11 system, but I cannot access it from another windows 11 system that are both hard wired into the same router. I have not made any typo's in the project library name or login credentials.

@@gregoryf8980 Thank you for the reply! However i was able to make it work. First i tried if the problem is with windows firewall by disabling it. This did work. Now, i did not wanna leave it disabled so i did investigate more and found proper solution: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Defender Firewall Advanced Settings Inbound Rules Find DaVinciResolveProjectServer Right click DaVinciResolveProjectServer, select properties Go to tab "Programs and Services" In the Programs section Tap on "All programs that meet the specified condition" Then switch tab to "Advanced" In profiles section check "Domain", for me this means all checkboxes are checked "Domain, private and public" I hope this helps someone!

Sorry for the delay, I don't believe you would be very happy editing on that in the long run. If it's a Resolve specific device I'd look at something with a bit more power

Noone thought of overclocking his current RAM?? I'd bet his kit would be perfectly stable at 3200. Higher clock speed for the same component is a marketing trick. The same speed can be achieved with overclocking for free. This applies to GPU, CPU and RAM. Higher speed components may be capable of higher max speeds but 50-100Mhz won't make a difference.
