Hi, you disconnected the coolant pipe at 3:36 and no coolant came out, was there no coolant in this vehicle?
@BradleysGarage2 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the question Phil. The top pipe in that pair is for CCV system and does not contain any coolant. The lower pipe however is where the coolant flows through. We just wanted to remove the least amount of parts in order to free up the valve cover assembly. Hope that helps answer your question, good luck on your Mercedes-Benz project. Cheers!

This is an awesome video! Just a quick question. I have a non-TDI 2013 Volkswagen Passat SE. Would you happen to know if the transmission has the same support? So if I remove the dogbone bolts, will I have the same slight drop/movement? I want to use this method but I also don't want to cause issues with my transmission. Thanks!
@BradleysGarage2 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the question Adrian, it will depend on your motor/trans configuration. Most of the Passat drivetrains are very similar but we cannot speak to the clearance of those since we only have TDI's. You don't have to worry about doing any harm by removing the "Dog Bone" as it just prevents the motor from flexing front to rear. Typically the motor/trans are supported by mounts on each side of the car. So essentially it just hangs there and the dog bone keeps it from moving forward and back. It doesn't support any weight, think of it like a brace. Good luck on your VW project, let us know how it goes. Cheers!

I’m stuck at the 12:50 step, the pin won’t come out. I used a thin drill bit to make a hole and the drill bit broke and part of it stayed inside the pin. Any other way to remove that pin??
@BradleysGarageСағат бұрын
Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the handle. If you are unable to grab any piece of the broken drill bit or plastic pin, our recommendation would be to use a fine Dremel bit to basically bore out the pin. We have heard of guys who don't want to take the panel apart, drilling the bottom side of the trim, where the pin would come through. Theoretically you could remove the handle assembly without taking everything apart. Then you could just use a punch to drive the pin out. We don't recall if that hole is visible afterwards though. Good luck on your Mercedes-Benz project, let us know how it goes. Cheers!

What is the reason? Bad oil
@davids970Күн бұрын
Put balloons over the spark plug holes and use diesel in a spray bottle to clean the valve train the put everything back together run oil and diesel for 30 min drain and then do the oil change
@ДмитрийЛысенко-ь3цКүн бұрын
how long did he drive on this oil?
@StormsparkPegasusКүн бұрын
I think more people would be willing to do their own oil changes if they find out first hand how important it is, how easy it is (on most vehicles anyway), and how much money they can save by doing it themselves. This guy was fortunate to see the aftermath of a neglected engine, while it was still early enough to save.

Doing this job today for the MiL. Dealer she took it too wants $1300 claiming 5hour labor book time 😂 i told her its maybe at most 1hour for me to do it. The oem part itself is the expensive part so going with autozone delphi aftermarket with limited lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the comments, glad to hear you are tackling it yourself. Those dealerships love to charge customers. Not sure what the Delphi unit costs but you will still be saving a ton of cash. Good luck on the repair, let us know how it goes. Cheers!

@ ok so i just finished and we have a 2015 vw passat and the fuel pump was a little different from yours but similar replacement process. Took me about 5 hours since no deaer in a 30mile radius had the part available so i went with autozone delphi brand. Find out the new pump was broken so had to return and go to another autozone across town for the replacement. The gasket i had to purchase at the dealer and it gave me a hard time when i was attempting to put the metal nut lock on. Finally, its done though. Your video was helpful with this task.

Thank you!. I have the same car. It started running on 3 so I bought one coil and 4 plugs. First coil and plug was a lit t le tough to remove the coil but it was clearly firing so used coil over. Second one the coil was a real stinker to remove ,the rubber boot was stuck. Tore it apart removing it, removed plug and it was the one not firing clearly. Put new plug and new coil in but went no further as I would be stuck if the next coil or the one after is stuck. Gonna go buy another coil just in case

With an engine like that after cleaning it, I would do an engine oil change every 1,000 until 3,000. Then every 5,000 depending on how the oil comes out. While typing I saw the part that you say about at 1,000 miles. Great video!!

Im getting ready to do this myself soon...the only thing i dont have is the torque wrench...is this a 100% really necessary step? Is it possible to just tighten thd plugs in as you did and skip the torque wrench and will it still be fine without this step?
@BradleysGarage4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question, it is not absolutely necessary but it's a good tool to have if you do any work on your car on a regular basis. Not sure where you are located but you can pick up an inexpensive one for around $20. www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/sockets-ratchets/torque-wrenches/3-8-in-drive/38-in-drive-5-80-ft-lb-click-torque-wrench-63880.html It's important not to over tighten spark plus since the cylinder head is aluminum. You will just want them good and snug, after many years of doing it, there is a certain feel to it. Good luck on your Kia project, let us know how it goes. Cheers!

Hello, how much $ is in the Bay Area California, for this problem
@BradleysGarage4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question, are you thinking Dealer or Indy shop? This is typically a 4 hour job so depending on the hourly rate, it will be $400-$900. Most shops won't just replace the gasket, since there is a chance the plastic cover may be warped. Aftermarket cover is around $200 and OEM is around $400. So it could be as cheap as $600 or as much as $1100. Any more than that they are really up charging on the parts. Good luck on your BMW project, let us know how it goes. Cheers!

I try everything that you said how to remove the plug. I pulled the red clip up wiggle wiggle, and the plug would not come off. Do you have a better way for me to do that?
@BradleysGarage6 күн бұрын
@@Papermationforlife Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the connector, sometimes they can be a pain. Just be sure you are pushing DOWN before you squeeze the clip. There is some pressure on the connector so it needs to be relieved before disconnecting it. If that doesn't work, you can also try a small hook/pick tool to get under the lip of the connector from the bottom side (closest to the pump). Just be very gentle and only pry it enough to remove. You do not want to break the connector, otherwise it won't stay connected to the pump afterwards. Let us know how it goes, Cheers!

I have been taking my 2003 Toyota Corolla to Walmart since 2019 for oil changes every 3 1/2 thousand miles. In October 2024 the tension rod bolt seared off so brought the car to a mechanic and he called me in about an hour after having the car to tell me the engine was full of sludge. He asked me how often I was changing the oil and u told him every 3 1/2 thousand miles and he said no way. I showed him the car was just due for its next change at the end of October he told me no one has done an oil change on my car for a long long time. 😢😢😢 looking for a new car now
