The warning in the beginning followed by the creepy song would have scared the shit out of me if I found it when I was 10

Beautiful opening imagery, even though it lights a worry in me, something about an active seascape is enticing and interesting, in the same way that a tornado going somewhere else, or a lightning bolt coming down on the horizon pins your eyes to the scene. There is no Oath of Dagon. Innsmouth is quite boring, and has little tourist value so don't visit. No treasures have ever been found in and around Innsmouth or near Devil's Reef. I'm not gonna tell you this is believable, but that is some really nice miniature work and a fun concept overall. Most impressively there were no jump scares, good to see some true craft and artistry at work.

I couldn't wait to get the dvd set after seeing this film. Loved it. Love that it's filmed in b&w, as I think it adds to the feeling. So much fun!

I really enjoyed the first part of this film, unfortunately (spoiler alert!) they continued after the original story ended and finished with what was in effect a rehash of a scene in the middle of the movie.

Perhaps the best and most faithful adaptation of an epoch-making HPL story.

Recently ordered a DVD of this film, and I can't wait to watch this. The Whisperer in Darkness is one of my favorite Lovecraft stories and this looks like an awesome adaptation.

Your silent film from 2005 (Call of Chthulhu) is the best adaptation of Lovecraft on earth. I can't find it anywhere nowadays.

I saw this back when Netflix sent you DVDs in the mail. I can't find this anywhere & it is THE best film adaptation of this!!!! Anyone know where to locate it?

Where can I find this today? I do have to watch out for the eldritch beings in the hoary forest behind our house - and the shoggoth on our roof, but I need to see this

Thanks for the "like". I note the video is "currently unavailable". I wonder what the Mi-Go did to hide it

But the DVD and Blu-Ray ARE available from Amazon. I selected Shoggoth delivery so I should get it soon.

Used to listen to this pretty frequently on my way to work in Cape Ann, Lovecraft Country, MA. Really set the mood knowing that I wasn't too too far away from Innsmouth.

Thanks for the update. I don't know if you are on good terms with S.T. Joshi, but if so, could you teach him the ropes about audiobooks. Many of us would like to have some of his books on Audible: H.P. Lovecraft Decline and Fall of the West, Rise and Fall of the Cthulhu Mythos, etc.) Thank you. Loved the latest Miskatonic monograph.

We're on great terms with S.T.. In the end, a publisher usually holds the rights to a book. So, the publisher would have to decide if they want to license their content and have an audiobook producer then produce the audiobook.

It's so strange to look at the way Lovecraft viewed the sea and compare it to what I know as the sea. He depicts it as something dark, mysterious, and evil, when in truth its a colorful world that serves as the reason for all life
@claytonjacobs40983 ай бұрын
To be fair, at the time people didn't know jack about the oceans. All they knew was that they were deep and full of dangerous creatures and terrible storms that sunk ships. There were no submarines to go exploring.
