Great vid. I’m pretty much baked into Apple Calendar and Mail for work. Though I found myself becoming more productive and effective in addressing tasks with Microsoft To Do versus Apple Reminders. That My Day feature in To Do has been amazing.

If connected to the iPhone, do mics like the Rode Go II, are being powered from the iPhone's battery? Is a power consumption level quite significant?

I have made the move from 1Password to Apple Passwords and like Apple Password so much better. I am exclusively on Apple devices and Apple Password just works better on those devices. Plus it's one less subscription and my spouse is also willing to use it for shared passwords, which is great. I am a bit worried about lock-in so not cancelling my 1password subscription just yet, but I don't think I will be able to justify it much longer.

I have the same problem. At work I basically set every task as a calendar appointment and then move these appointments around to essentially time block my days and all files are stored in a PARA section I setup for my department on the company network. However, at home I have found it much harder. I have iCloud, OneDrive and Google Drive, photos spread across all 3 as I have chopped and changed which service I want to use as my primary one. I really got into OneNote for a long time. My experience is that it is not easy but with the benefit of hindsight I would say one system with everything i.e. all Apple, Google or Microsoft would be the best way to go to minimise the mental burden. Since I have always had been a Windows user with Apple mobile devices I have always tried to seek out cross-platform compatibility hence mainly using Microsoft’s OneDrive and OneNote but when I finally get myself a MacBook I expect I will move entirely to iCloud.

My problem is similar at work. Windows machine with an iOS mobile but we don’t have Microsoft To-Do. I struggle more on that side since everything at home is at least Apple and synced with iCloud. I had to get rid of Google drive and OneDrive at home to simplify things for myself at home.

I carefully considered both and decided on the 13” iPad M4, even though I have the MacBook M2 13”. I find that I use my iPad a lot more than my MacBook, though I really like the 13” screen size. I like the touch screen on an iPad and the fact that I can detach the device from the keyboard. I had a M1 11” iPad Air and was considering upgrading to the M4 iPad Pro 11”, but decided on the 13”, since the device is SO thin and light. I found that despite the 11” being smaller, it feels really dense and heavier. (It is so much thinner and lighter than the 12.9” iPad’s). Enjoy the 11” iPad. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it - everyone has a different use case and need / personal preference.
@BillMcLean

I may have accidentally replaced my MacBook Air with this iPad, so I probably could have gone 13”. The thin and light was a huge factor I took into account. Oh well, this gives me an excuse to think about what I can do, sell or trade, for my M1 MacBook Air!

The biggest thing I want now is integrated reminder in a note so you can remind yourself you took that note when it’s slightly more verbose than a reminder and secondly, the “/“ shortcut that notion and Craft has. That quick menu via the slash is extremely useful.
@BillMcLean
@BillMcLean 4 күн бұрын
I’d have to agree, discoverability in apple notes isn’t quite there yet, but they’ve been making great progress these last few years upgrading it! Obsidian has a quick menu as well that was helpful, I’ve never been into notion or tried craft.

If you want to create a reminder for a note on your phone, just use Siri. Open the note on your phone, and tell Siri "remind me about this tomorrow at 6 pm". It will create the reminder with a link to your note. That trick works for other things too, like Mail and web pages in Safari.

Great video! I picked up the 11" M4 5G about 2 weeks ago and portability is what sold me on it. No matter where I'm at I can pull it out of my backpack and work from it. Being able to use RDP at a moments notice and then jump back into IOS for note taking makes this such an amazing device.

I got the 11" M4 iPad Pro too as the 13" also felt too big and weird aspect ratio. I am sure it is great if you mainly use it for digital art and the like but for me I found the 11" was just a better overall size as portability trumped the larger screen which really made little difference to me for note taking and watching content, etc.

Hey! Just wanted to chime in after watching your review. I've been using the DJI Mic for a while now and I've found the connection stability to be quite good. And the new DJI Mic 2 even has an audio recording backup feature, which sounds like a game-changer for reliability.

Yeah, I understand my experience is not likely the average, but it was just annoying enough that it turned me off of DJI mics and towards the Rode. Had a DJI drone failure under warranty at the same time, they handled that extremely well!Unfortunately my mics were out of warranty and likely just a freak fringe issue, but it is what it is.

@@BillMcLean it depends on the price imo. There isn’t a big difference between the 15 and 16 pro in terms of noticeable performance. The second hand value of the 15 pro has already lost half its value and 16 is definitely not worth over 500 bucks more than the 15. That’s just how I see it 🤷‍♂️

the MKE600 sounded very natural, so does the wireless mics. However, the podmic sounded too deep, pretty unnatural. The SM58 in fact sounded more natural than the podmic, not so boomy.
@BillMcLean
@BillMcLean 22 күн бұрын
The MKE600 is growing on me. I like the broadcast sound of the podmic and the shure, but it does cut out a lot of the room noise that might make the others sound more natural. I pretty much didn’t do any EQ other than volume normalizing. Any of these could be made to sound similar enough at the end of the day which is crazy!

Its hard to say upgrading from the Masterpiece MBA M1, to be honest only valid reasons are you use the device professionally and need more CPU more GPU more RAM New Raytracing and can turn the horsepower directly into cash, all other reasons like storage and color or newer Chip Generation are just a "wanna have" So the only valid upgrade from a M1 MBA is directly to a M4 Pro Max (yes at least 4k) you can add storage via an external TB case at a ridicoulous low price point compared to apples price policy . The M2 and M3 do not have enough boost to outperform the comparable M1 in real life just in synthetic benchmarks, old wisdom "not everything that is measurable is relevant" The M4 is a real new fabrication process and has some advantages BUT for a private person these advantages will be completely irrelevant in terms of productivity. For a professional user probably its time to upgrade but that Pro won't come from an M1 MBA, probably from a M1 Pro or Max MBP.
