I ended up getting one of these because I was so impressed by the demos on KZbin. it is really great! Yes it is pricey. But to have a tube eq or compressor is way more money. Now you can get a real tube sound with this added on any eq or compressor plugin-It’s worth its weight in gold!

I bought the freqtube because it was the least expensive software controllable hardware saturator that I knew about. Other than the freqtube, I am totally in the box. I wouldn't have bought it if I had to patch it through my audio interface because I don't have available inputs. That's worth a few more bucks for me. $1000 is pricey but I see hardware controller at the $799 range and no sound goes through the unit itself. You are totally right in saying that it just depends on the buyer and their particular situation whether this is too much. I bought this with the intention that this was going to be the only outboard gear I was going to own.

you're right the only reason why I haven't purchased this is because of the price. I love the concept but I can find 10 better ways to improve my studio for $900/$1000 dollars

For my money, I'd be buying four valve compressors, which is actually what I've done. It's an interesting idea, but for me it would be redundant.

I thought this was interesting, since I first seen White Sea Studio make a review. I wish that added analog I/O, similar to the AnalogHeat. If it had stereo/dual mono analog I/O, and a stereo/dual mono send/return, to allow external hardware in the chain, with plugins, I feel like it would have been more appealing and interesting. The $1k price range is extremely competitive, so I feel like you really need something that's more universal, to expand your demographic, to compete at this cost. I would probably already own one, if it wasn't strictly USB. I've always liked the idea of being able to hybridize my setup, and integrate my hardware with software, with a simple plug & play box. I have an RME UFX III, so I can hybridize my setup, but it's not a simple plug & play option. It would be cool to have a hybrid box, with analog circuits like this, I/O for hardware and soft synths, send/return, and a matrix routing plugin, that made routing super easy. I'm not sure if something like this is too far left for them, but I would more than likely buy it.
