Build bear bones or carcass ships, have cash and upgrade with beams and shields. Production costs are very low, and dust is very well used too. You can spam fleets in underveloped systems, close to your enemy just in few turns...

Most important tip of them all: Do not buy the game. Pirate it (if you want to play)

Focus on beams and shields. Assign three coordinators per lane, doubling up on mid if needed. Winning mid lets broadsided weapons target other lanes, boosting accuracy and damage by 10% and effectively doubling output if the enemy spreads across three lanes. Alternatively, tank the flanks and concentrate firepower mid for a faster victory. Equip coordinators with slugs to counter missiles, the main early-game threat. Ignore critical damage-it bypasses shields/armor but deals normal hull damage. Lasers and beams are excellent for debuffs, like a 20% accuracy reduction for six seconds, devastating first missile or slug salvos (slugs often miss entirely). Beams are superior as they hit instantly and guarantee damage, unlike missiles, slugs, or lasers, which rely on accuracy and travel time. Early beams are overpowered, especially for small fleets, though harder to access later. Initially, you can upgrade lasers, but they’re suboptimal despite doubling damage with reduced accuracy. Tier 3 lasers with -20% accuracy debuffs force a return to beams (100% accuracy) for flexibility. Keep some older beams or laser modules for their powerful debuffs, which cripple slugs, lasers, and missile swarms in the first phase. Missiles can add variety on long lanes with 1-3 ships, but their lack of debuffs and vulnerability to flak make them less appealing. Their high damage is situational and less effective in prolonged engagements. Finally, leverage the shadow fleet strategy. Cloak ships with level 3 tech and equip them with gatling guns for armor/shield penetration and 100% accuracy at short range. During battle, wait until phase 3-this triggers an ambush mechanic, skipping phases and putting you close to the enemy. Gatling guns shred through opponents instantly, while debuffs like -20% accuracy delay their response, turning many ships into debris before they can react. This tactic guarantees devastating results.

Or you could just look up any submarine by name online and see it's specs which is a lot easier than going through the files.

Wait so can you only get tourist from other player? Or can you grt them from city states too?

I've never understood why people want to keep playing a game after they've beaten it? This is a useless battle trait to me if you can't get it before the main campaign

I could not have begun without this guide! I fumbled though Mount & Blade Warband and got the hang of it. Closest thing I find playable. I’m not the best at these types of games, yet. Trading, sandbox, strategy type games. though I made the mistake of joining a siege that I wasn’t able to do much in aside lose my troops and had to go back very far to an earlier save and got so disheartened that I just started playing Paradox games and either failing or getting to the point that my meagre computer couldn’t handle it. My best Elder Scrolls Universalis empire was rather unwieldy by the time the lag was unbearable. So many regions and vassals and development levels and managing stability with religious conversion and culture management… So once my empire (economic or political) in this game becomes too massive in scope, I’ll try to figure out Victoria II. Something about the Europa Engine games that makes them impenetrable to me at the moment. Once I fail at a good run of that, I will be time for Mayhem 3, which I will likely spend much more time in, as I will have more experience managing economic planning and the like. Oh, to be able to live in space, and not on this world.

Well I landed here after my hostile borg like neighbor rolled in with 16 ships. I only had and could afford 8. I got annihilated I thought I must be missing something dust/production wise. This must be it. I wasn't aware this mechanism was so important to gameplay. This wasn't communicated in the in-game tutorial. Thanks for the guide.

You have a good clear voice, and make good use of the mouse pointer in the video. One small suggestion: if you eliminate the discussion and analysis of what does not work/ add up, and add a final page with written tips, the video will be more useful to folks looking to get the most out of the trading mechanic and the video length will be 50% more efficient. I’m so glad I found this. I’m about 6 hours into the game and was disappointed at how cumbersome I thought the combat was until I found out about the keybinds. They should’ve explained this in the tutorial.

I used a red and purple and a red and green, and got it pretty easily. I also let my pool upgrade as much as possible as early as possible for the boost in mana regen, and I was able to get a level 8 gem from the get go

Unfortunately, you haven't uploaded any videos in years. An overview over the other major DLCs would have been nice. Especially now when a big update for the Awakening DLC came out.

tip for anyone in the future, pressing the delete key un-enrages non forgotten enraged waves, meaning if you click too many times and enrage too high you can reset the counter and go back up, super useful info that lost me a few endurance runs before i found it out, also just avoid bombing waves that have a little tower icon/say 'force gem resocketing' it isn't worth it for them, enrage maybe up to the point your mana gem kills them but go no higher
