I've been grinding this winter on my back swing and made a huge difference to how my swing looks. 👍

@tylermcghiegolf yeah man my habit was whipping it to the inside really quickly and as you said, lots of issues with that.

how does that change for driver given the wider stance and shoulder alignment?

I would say overall pretty similar. The main difference would be the takeaway will be lower for a bit longer.

Tyler, with me going back until the hosel hits the wall, then track up the wall aren't I going too far inside on the take away?
@tylermcghiegolf8 күн бұрын
You could experiment with hitting the wall closer to chest high and see. But I liked the look last session.

Tyler, this is good for me. I get it right most of the time but sometimes all of a sudden it creeps in and i'm like what am I doing wrong., that kind of sliding and not turning and leaving the face open could be my problem. I gotta be more aware of that, thnx.

How firm do hold the golf club in your swing on a scale from 0-10 (10=heighest pressure)?
@adrianobaldacci600610 күн бұрын
Imagine holding a bird. You want to hold it hard enough that it won’t break free, but you also don’t want to crush it
@tylermcghiegolf10 күн бұрын
So that is a great question. I think of it more of a range depending on strength. Most people I find hold it too lightly. I’d start with a 10 out of 10 and see how it goes. We are trying to get force into the club. That is really hard to do if you aren’t holding on to it enough.

The lat length comment was a solid point, I think being tight in the those muscles can cause that reverse tilt issue to sneak in for me.
@tylermcghiegolf16 күн бұрын
Thanks man. Yes lat length so key. Yes definitely a factor in your swing and tendency.
@alexburford811616 күн бұрын
Have a question about the pushing off with the feet. You claim to be sliding the trail foot back - but we can literally see the heel lifting up, which looks more like your pushing forward? Care to elaborate? I might be missing something.

Stumbled on your channel after watching a lesson you gave. I have been having a bit of trouble getting through the shot. This drill is excellent feels. Very interesting sense is correct. Thanks for the free content. I am all self taught and am impressed with how you explain the issue, then the drill, then what you are trying to get out of the drill.

Surprisingly , the wrist technique seemed to fare better in my opinion. There seems to be a lot more timing and effort involved in your 1st technique . Heavier body segments that need moving longer angular distances, such as lower and upper body , then arms & forearm rotation (ie. like a compound conical pendulum) . The 2nd technique seems more like a 'double/conical' pendulum with limited lower/upper body movements but more 'wrist hinge' and & quicker forearm rotation movements. Would be interesting to know whether your 'Trackman' can measure 'Rate Of Closure' of the clubface to compare both techniques.

I really like this Tyler and thanks. I’ve always wondered about this very subject for myself as I used to be a power fader. I wanted to broaden my horizon’s and learned to move the ball both ways but ended up losing my natural fade. Thanks again I’ll look into it.

It's no wonder that despite lessons, technology improvements, launch monitors, force plates, and 3D, 99% of golfers still can't break 90. The same was true 50 years ago. There is either a fundamental problem with how golf is taught or the game is so difficult that only a gifted few can ever hope to play good golf.
@tylermcghiegolf2 ай бұрын
Interesting point! Yes technology is for sure better and is a great tool. But I think getting the movements to match the person and getting a feedback loop from practice and playing is key to really move the needle.

When you see someone as good as Ian have a completely different look on the course compared to the range it points a long way towards the range being the problem. Why do golfers practice in an environment that's completely different to the field of play?
