Another phenomenal video. As collectors we don’t look at price. We care about the quality, rarity and history. I absolutely love this new Vintage Line concept from Habanos. On the topic of New World cigars I must say that over the past couple of years I have started smoking New World cigars to further educate my palate. The Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Cameroon, Brazil, Mexico and the Connecticut River Valley USA all produce unique and incredible tobacco. Havana cigars have always been and will always be my passion. However there is no denying that the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras are all producing some truly phenomenal cigars.

In my opinion, this line of series are to specific to a country. People buy Cuban cigars because they are Cuban and shall front the Cuban heritage. Why would people around the world want to buy Cuban Cigars markeded as Chinese culture? I have nothing against the Chinese people, but I can not see why Habanos needs to mix to different cultures here.

I believe it is a Luxury Market strategy. Most luxury brands create or adapt their products to suit pr appel some local markets. Hence the concept of creating special products to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The Regional Editions are special releases created only to appeal to a certain market.

Probably a good marketing ploy by habanis to stay ahead of the curve. But why don't they focus on getting the quality right in the normal cigar brands, where you can find 3 bad quality cigars. I found at least 7 ones in a box of Jose L Pedro's. If Habanos starts this journey the new world cigars group will follow and make it better Because as it has been said before they have better quality control.
@habanonews5 күн бұрын
Good question. If you consider that it cost $2 to make a cigar. It costs the same to manufacture a R & J linea de oro cigar or a Vegueros. But the sale price and therefore the profit is very different. As we are talking about a price difference of 700%. So we can only hope that when tobacco harvest is back to normal and the number of rollers is also back to normal, once the hugh end cigars are rooled then the low cost cigars will come back to our shelves. That is my analysis.

Awesome video my guy. You seem like someone who knows their stuff.... So I would like to ask, what's your take on plume??? I understand what it is, and I know mold is a big mistake for plume. Would you mind explaining to me what it looks like. Thanks for any information
@habanonews5 күн бұрын
Plume (also called bloom) refers to a white, crystalline powder that can appear on the surface of properly aged cigars. It's caused by oils naturally present in the tobacco rising to the surface and crystallizing. This is generally considered a sign of good aging and proper humidification. However, it's important to note that plume can sometimes be confused with mold, which is harmful. Plume will brush off easily while mold tends to be fuzzy and can leave marks or discoloration.
@nathanhawee5373Күн бұрын
@habanonews ok gotcha! With plume(bloom) I imagine it covers the entire cigar. Not just small white fuzzy spots. I only ask because I've had shops sell me mold and promise it's plume when clearly it's not. The friends of habanos did a study and like 90% of BnM selling mold as bloom. Thanks for the info my guy

As always great video. Good concept however not sure if this new extremely high priced model would work for real smokers like us who are passionate about cigars but also live in the real world and have other things to do in life as well without having hundreds of thousands of dollars as spare change. Re - Behike , to me this is now an over kill as already having a 56 is enough since it’s a big cigar and the ring gauge is already too big. Not sure who needs to have the 58/9 unless it’s just for investment or for ultra rich. For me, I might get one stick (if it ever fits my budget) for the sake of trying it but would prefer buying a box of cigars that I can really enjoy everyday instead of one cigar for one time.

As a collector, sure, go for it.. as person who would like to enjoy cigars, no. it remind me the Bolivar Belicosos Finos which I'd gladly smoke every day if I could.

My own worry (not that I could afford any of the new offerings) is that Habanos storage conditions would, and are, be less than ideal compared to distributors like Hunter and Frankau or an individual shop such as Davidoff London or #6 Cavendish. Even buying from Bond Roberts would seem to be less of a risk vs Habanos although I see many buying them for the same reason some people buy high end currently, a “flex” or financial brag. However, there will be some aficionados that buy them for investment purposes.

Curious if the bigger rings gauges have to do with easier obtaining Cubans to America. Doesn’t seem like Europe or Cuba like big ring gauges. Unless they want to emulate Americans. Europe strikes me as a sub 52 ring gauge, Cuba a sub 48 ring gauge culture. Unless I’m way off the mark.

Hello Laurent how are you What I think about these super rare editions: 1. It does not have the highest quality in construction for the price they have. 2. They are habanos without aging. I also think that they are getting greener and need long storage periods. 3. Many of these do not have a unique superior flavor that is worth the high cost. 🥃🔥
@habanonews5 күн бұрын
Thank you very much Nicolas for taking the time to make a comment on this channel. It is highly valuable. I totally agree with you. The "green" feeling is definitely noticeable which shows that these cigars have been created without any aging or rest of the tobacco, certainly because of the pressure to get them out in time for the Chinese New Year. I believe that they need to be left to rest and age for at least 5 years as all of the cigars i have smoked so far are definitely too young. Another issue is the construction and unfortunately it won't get better with time. Let's just hope aging will ease the draw. See you soon. Laurent

So if the embargo is lifted how does that effect pricing and global inventory? Next, because of limited harvests due to weather and after effects of COVID short staffing... when would crops increase to support the demand globally? Will that also effect pricing??
@habanonews15 күн бұрын
Fair question. If embargo is lifted the US market could take a big chunk of the production. if production is doubled to previous levels the question to ask is if Habanos is going to roll standard production cigars or high end expensive ones in fancy boxes. It is unclear what strategy Habanos is leaning towards

Cuban cigars deserve there respects for history and heritage as well as tobacco . The market s are controlled -diamonds , tobacco , watches , wine , wood, and many more fine things for you to think they are rare and spend a fortune . Is a Rolex watch better than a Seiko as a functional watch ? Is a Cuban better than a Nicaraguan cigar ? Is French wine better than California ? Are diamonds rare -no. People buy and enjoy things for different reasons but as far as cigars I think the quality price competition and consistency in new world cigar makers is 2nd to none -people will look back on this time as a golden age for new world cigars

Usman for CigarInspector made a great video of a Cigar Lounge selling Chinese Cigar brands which are of great quality so I don't believe that China can be associated to bad quality anymore. Just like Japanese products were considered cheap and of bad quality in the 50s and 60s. China is working hard to deliver quality products and I have no doubt that China will soon be synonymous with high quality. China is now the country which is making the most patents on the planet. It is a sign of the country creating new inventions.

@peters823718 күн бұрын
A great video as always Laurent. Behike is well outside my price range, as my go to range from £20-£60 per Cuban. But this is a smart move by Habanos. Due to the price increases of recent years, combined with inflation and currency exchange, plus the demand from wealthy Asian and Middle East buyers, they need to reinforce the price premium between Behike, Cohiba and the rest of the standard production lines. Habanos are simply following the same path as luxury goods like spirits, where a regular bottle of scotch whisky can be had for less than £100, but there are also bottles available for tens of thousands - they are statement pieces, not regular consumption. And the same is true for a Behike; you are buying the experience and associated prestige, not the inherent value of the product. As a consequence the existing Behike line may appear, conversely, as better value if there is a new higher more expensive tier in their range, so maybe this move might help shift existing products.

58 is interesting for line expansion, but the comically looking 59 is rather gratuitous and an attempt to follow the new wold cigar sizes trend without aim apart from profit.
