I’d not recommend wireframing in google docs. Check out Balsamiq, whimsical, Miro, and Figma…there are free versions you can use. If you only have access to Google suite, Jamboard is your option.

@nikitisza2 ай бұрын
I’m glad you enjoyed the video ☺️ Since I made this video, I left NZ, but I hear lots of stories from my friends and past mentees….the market is challenging, not only in NZ but everywhere. I’m in Canada right now, and the job market is the same. It feels like the current time is number games. Keep applying, and keep tailoring your resume and cover letter. Be aware that your student visa only allows you to work up to 20 hrs. It’s always more challenging to get a part-time position than a full-time one, especially as a newcomer. Not impossible, but be prepared.

I am a graphic/ digital designer with a degree in graphic design and 5 years of experience, in my head it sounds so simple to branch out to UX design, but I'm constantly battling my inner voice saying, "Do you really want to be a junior again?"🙈 In the last 3 years that was the only thing that has stopped me. So my only question is, does my current design experience count for something when I start looking for jobs within UX product design or am I better off trying to find entry-level jobs? BTW I came across this channel just yesterday and so far I'm loving it! Your videos are so in-depth and filled with useful information. 💖💖
@nikitisza5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot 🤩 I don't think you need to be junior again. You have many transferrable skills from graphic design and can get at least an intermediate position or even a senior if you're applying for jobs at smaller companies. And...when you look at job ads, you soon notice that entry-level UX is not really entry-level (sadly). Have self-confidence. If your portfolio demonstrates your skills, you don't need to go for an internship or associate-level position. Test the job market & try to aim higher! What's the worst thing that could happen? I wish you the best of luck! 🤗

@nikitisza11 ай бұрын
If you have a couple of years of experience, it's super easy to secure a BA role, especially in a government agency in Wellington, so that's what I'd recommend you try. Contracting pays the best. However, the new government wants to reduce the number of contractors, so time will tell... Consultancy is everywhere in NZ, but be aware of the terrible work-life balance if you start working for one of the Big 4s.

@nikitisza Жыл бұрын
Is this a paid internship? If so, add it to your resume so hiring managers know you didn't work for free, and it's a real job. Only paid internships are treated as such. Sadly, if it's not a paid internship, that's not treated equally. I understand it's tough right now, not only for juniors but also seniors. For comparison, about 18 months ago, I applied for over 200 jobs to secure 3 interviews. So you need to keep applying for positions! Right now, it's a number game. The industry will recover in 5 years or so, but in 2023-2024, it's pretty tough.
