the question that wasn’t asked is why did the shear pin shear?
@RVPastorKevin10 күн бұрын
Poor slide box design… lots of stress on that box with no guides at the top. The only contact point of the slide is the rack…. With age, the sides aren’t as tight, and the box can bind…. So the shear pin did its job.
@TheDrPoh10 күн бұрын
Thanks. I’ve had a similar problem with mine. Have replaced the pin at least a dozen times in the last 12 years. Am pretty expert at it now!

Just wondering if your slides come in easy with the bunk beds about to build some in my rv just making sure the beds are light enough for the slide to work properly didn’t know what weight I needed to make the beds
@RVPastorKevinАй бұрын
No problems at all. I used regular non-treated lumber so the bed isn’t that heavy, and either way it was offset by the removal of the dining table and booths…..

How have the bunkes held up Pastor Kevin? We are planning on selling our junky gas class a to get an old diesel class a and are planning on doing this very same thing. Our kids are 8 and 10 so Im hoping the bed sizes that can fit there are big enough to last until the kids dont want to travel with us anymore? lol.

They have held up great. My oldest son got too big, but he is 18 and 6’ 2”, but the other two kids at 13 and 15 still fit. :-)

Brother, thank you very much for that video! It made it easy to put it together. Apparently the company must have received a lot of complaints because my hardware came installed in the appropriate holes they were suppose to go and that made it even easier to put together. Thanks again for your video. 👋

I’m so confused. What specifically is the shear pin? I still have no idea what you fixed even after watching this. 😢
@RVPastorKevin3 ай бұрын
the shear pin is a pin that goes through the shaft of the motor and the shaft of the gear that runs the slide. If a problem occurs, the "shear pin" does its job and "shears off" to prevent damage to the motor. this is all explained at the 2:43 minute mark, and even shown as well.

I have said it before and I will say it again. When you install an irrigation system, build a manifold where all the valves are grouped together. It would look like your hand. One source of water but then like a finger, only one valve opens at a time. There is no searching or hiring someone to locate all your valves.
@RVPastorKevin6 ай бұрын
true in a perfect world, but I bought this house last summer and it had a sprinkler system installed 20 years ago. No lie, the zone valve locations don't make ANY SENSE as to their location in the system. Regardless though, I still needed a way to find them....

I wonder if thumping the valve like that is bad for the valve. Does it shorten the life at all? Is it likely to aggravate a valve which is close to wearing out?
@RVPastorKevin6 ай бұрын
I doubt it. It’s just the solenoid opening and closing, energizing an electromagnet. Wouldn’t cause any wear whatsoever.

Great job. Thought you could sew some of the curtains panels together. Less light especially for the top bunk with the windows. Also something nice to add above each bed is a memory board. Or a hanging folder or bag to put books or special items.

I just did exactly what you showed me! Well done sir you gave me the confidence to give it a try. Going out to re install it. I used flux and I’m kind of wondering if that liquid can sort anything out and how to wipe it off, but I’ll just do my best with the tissue or something. I’ll let you know if if it worked.

OK, so I purchased one of these on eBay and try using it at a customer's property.I could barely hear the solenoid.You literally had to be like a foot away from the ground To be able to hear It slightlyVibrating, it did not pulsate as loud as this video showed now I don't know if because this video is using a pro version Don't know if that makes a difference.
@RVPastorKevin6 ай бұрын
I hear you. I think it has more to do with the solenoid manufacturer. On my system at my house, the thing sounds like a jackhammer. I used the SAME DEVICE to try and locate my dad's valves, and you could hardly hear them 6" away....

Dab (tiny) of dielectric grease around the outside of the connector will let the cable be extracted easily.

Hello! Thank you for this video. Dumb question. I have valves that are leaking but I don't know where the valve boxes are. When I'm using the chat-r-box, can I leave the water turned off -- and just have the box/electricity active? Or does the water to the sprinkler need to be on as well? Thanks!
@RVPastorKevin7 ай бұрын
No need for water. Water can be off. My system uses a pump to pull water from the lake, and I kept the pump off. All you’re looking for or rather listening for is the solenoid noise turning on and off rapidly

@@Dark4estImagery turn the valve on, look for the sprinkler head to pop up. If one doesn’t, let it run for a while and look for a big puddle….
@EmailBox-v4u5 ай бұрын
Sometimes a little dirt or pebble gets stuck in the valve seal, which causes it to leak. If that is the case,To flush it out, you can use the chat-r-box to vibrate it out while the water is on.

Safely working with a pressurized (or even a possibly pressurized) fuel system, means it's smart to wear at least safety glasses, if not a face shield when you breach a pressure boundary. My Triumph Tiger has about 45 psig on the fuel manifold and it holds it a looooong time after turning off the key. Ask me how I know. Neither gas nor diesel is good in your eyes. Be safe!
