DIY Build of a lean-to with a tarp roof.
Easy to complete, very cheap, and good for adding dry storage space to your outdoor equipment.

Nice idea! I have a friend that has lots of bamboo. I needed a shed. So I cut the bamboo drilled holes and zip tied it into tic tac toe fashion. Wrapped tarp around outside, then put tarp roof over it. Used bamboo as roof rafters. It looked like a home made yurt!

We made one of those over our 12' x 24' patio for one summer and it served us well for one season. Now I just built one out out of lumber and steel so it's more permanent.

I'm looking to build a sort of lean to just to protect some plants when it rains - your comment about the gap for run off is a really good one. I saw a few designs that cuffed tarps around a pvc frame but that would definitely keep that problem of pooling water. Great comment to share.

Very cool and inexpensive idea. One small tip: At 3:04 ...Clamp those 3 together at center where they meet for added stability. Some wire or string should do it. 👍

hey, mike! Been praying for your ministry up there. Hope all is well brother! Crazy week here, had probably 2,000 in worship yesterday and had 2 baptisms. certainly staying busy here! Spring break was last week, so had some good downtime fishing that week. stayed at an AMAZING Class A only resort on Lake Greenwood for the week, I'll be shooting out a campground review of it soon.

@@RVPastorKevin thank you! That’s great! We had a little over 100 in worship on Sunday. That’s double what we usually have. Praising God for the abundance! Blessings!

How's the system performing? Your idea has come across my mind as a potential way, though mounting either on poles under the soffit or possibly mounted using the flange or other clasps to the rafters directly underneath as close to the house as I can get where probably better to get into the area where the rafter sits on the frame and maybe adding more wood inside to support. Thinking I'll not attach and use another two or three posts. I was leaning towards polycarbonate or steel as the roofing and a little more pitch for the snow to fall off. Also using maybe hat channel or 2x2's as purlins. I've been saving up steel so have better than the old carport shelter materials as I'm thinking to build a portable farm building and greenhouse with those using steel and polycarbonate and other items repurposed like windows and doors to tie the tubes together so a uniform solid rigid structure, pin footed down most likely. The Sail Shade ideas maybe coating with diluted type 1 or 2 silicone to waterproof is starting to get me thinking as a way where clasping those down lower for rain or snow or using like your idea to retract literally the awning has inspired me to consider some other ways to use less and lighter material. Thanks for sharing. Kind Regards, In Christ.

Righteous, isn't that amazing. As I look to the side and just down on the YT suggested videos, I see two inspiring videos related just beneath where I commented; where the one titled "Harbor freight tools portable garage into Permanent structure" by mikes random videos had me thinking years ago. John Daniels, D-VDub Garage and one other I forget offhand, since I don't see in the list, swore by their re enforced or steel coated canopy designs as well where survived through hurricane winds. The second is a newer video more related recently specifically to coating fabrics with silicone to waterproof. I've played with concrete stamp making using type 2 silicone and dawn dish soap on stone as the resist as well as waterproofed using type 1 silicone as my Dad used for decades since the type 1 Dow really is one of the better, if not best, adhesives of the silicones. Anyhow, the "Recycled Bedsheets Make The Best Waterproof Tarps" by NightHawkInLight detailed well where as I think I've written on Hackaday in comments years back regarding silicone use. Interesting. Looks like The Handy Outdoorsman is another and the one I was thinking of was harder to find when I searched last. I probably should make a Videos playlist for now while fresh on my mind. I'll get to that now. Thanks again.

I was wondering the same. This same idea came across my mind as a potential way, though mounting either on poles under the soffit or possibly mounted using the flange or other clasps to the rafters underneath. I was leaning towards polycarbonate or steel as the roofing and a little more pitch for the snow to fall off. Also using maybe hat channel or 2x2's as purlins.

Jiggaboo, really? That word should be removed from your vocabulary. Say it to the wrong person and it will be a problem for ya. Even youtube wants me to edit it before posting. My edit is this last sentence. I guess you can say it, just dont write it.

I’m wondering where on earth you heard that word in my video. It is not in the video or in the transcript…… so ?????? Racial slurs are not in my vocabulary. Maybe before posting that comment you reach out directly so you could get to truth?
