These videos are very helpful to watch before going into a finance office. What I've learned: don't let the manager talk to you. If they ask if they can tell you something: no. Don't answer questions. Sign the papers and get out. It's a den of lies.

78K just out of warranty and my camera went. Part is 4k + instal. 130K suspension was creaking. 2k replace strut + alignment. Most North Americans live pay cheque to pay cheque - do you really wanna fork out big if something happens or would you rather it be the dealers problem to fix?
@mattvernon25032 күн бұрын
@@sighkek1670Your camera seems expensive. I've never bought any of these products, ever. I've had five or six cars? So I've saved, what, 20,000? Give or take? I've probably spent $2,000 on repairs that would have been covered by warranty. These products are designed to produce profit for the vendor: they are a bad purchase. Sure, you can have a set of facts that makes them a good purchase, but statistically speaking you won't.

If you are Mr. Moneybags, it isn't for you. If you don't mind taking a big hit on your trade-in because you don't want to fix something, it isn't for you. If you trade every two years with reasonable miles per year, it isn't for you. If you are on a fixed budget and you finance to the max term, you may want to rethink your strategy. If you keep your vehicle long term, you may want to rethink your strategy. But still, it is up to you. If you think the computer and electrical doesn't break down, go sit in a service waiting room and talk to the customers sitting there.

Every car buyer should watch this video before heading to a dealership to immaculate themselves against this type of rhetoric. I bought a $100k EV truck recently and I took the tire & wheel coverage (which I actually value, especially since I've already scratched my wheels and will need to use it), but also they pushed me some other $300 coverage, by outright lying "they had a coupon which cancels this out". Turned out to be the lie, I can clearly see my finances amount is basically the purchase price + these 2 coverages. So one more technique to pay attention to as a buyer.

Most auto dealer finance guys are fast-talking lying vultures. So I told our Lexus finance guy I was pre-approved for 5% with my credit union. He says with interest rates coming down in 2025, he recommended going with Wells Fargo at 7.4% and then refinance with my credit union later when the rates fall. I said wouldn't I just be better off financing with my credit union now at 5% and then refinance with them later? He says, they won't let you once you are locked in at 5%. Turns out this was a bold faced lie. My credit union said I can refinance at any time. So then he says if I put too much of a down payment, the Wells Fargo interest rate goes up. It's all about them making money on the financing, which is where they make the bulk of their profit - financing and warranty packages. That's why dealerships have such a bad reputation.

With all the money I have saved on warranties I have passed on(every single one) I am way ahead. Scare tactics are for people who can't afford to fix or replace their stuff. It is the highest margin item in many, many sales. So scare someone else.

This helped steel my spine to say heck no to anything at all in F&I. Everything these plans offer you can pay for IF something happens (without overhead), and every cent of profits you all make is extra cost to me. This is why we hate the dealership.
@evand760712 күн бұрын
Yeah but a ton of people out there can’t afford an extra $2000 repair bill and it might make sense to adjust your monthly payment to include some coverage

So the F&I Manager will spend time developing a plan to fool the customer into spending thousands for a rate markup and/or a number of grossly overpriced products of dubious value. And then, the dealer will try to charge the customer for the F&I Manager's activities to fool the customer through its fake doc or other fee. Priceless. Here is a clear reason of why American car buyers hold auto dealers in such low regard.

We do the same thing. It’s a smart move. What the customer is really paying for is the warranty of the product. Extremely low cost to apply it to every car. Customer knows no difference. The warranty is where the value is for the customer.
