I know this is going to seem off-topic or bad-mouthed, but I want to make it clear that enough with the use of "Latino". The real latinos are the romans who are already dead, we only adopt the derived languages, we don't like to associate ourselves with the other latinamericans and the meaning that this attaches in that they don't have a term of their own and they encompass themselves as a single identity, Argentina is a southern country very different from the historical process (although shared) of other countries. I don't want my brothers to appropriate themselves like that either, even so those in the USA call themselves Americans, taking into account that America is a continent not a country, I understand that it is their identity, I get it). It's not that we feel ‘European’, we feel Southamerican with pride, bcause we're really the south, u know what I mean, but of course this is associated with the continent, then the most specific and distinguishable term is ‘Austral’ as well as Chile and Uruguay (maybe other countries more) Why do I say this? Bcause the "Latin" is associated with warm countries, or Caribbean countries or with a cultural, economic, social or geographic hegemony that doesnt show the reality. It's not common to debate this, and it's silly, yea but as an Argentinean I dont feel identified with this term, beyond the language (in any case it is better to say Hispanicamerican, because Europe should also be called Latineurope, spaniards and stuff should be latin too, right?) If you live here that people are seen half reluctant or dubious about this topic.

I appreciate your response, especially presented in an intelligent manner and with respect. This is something that I’ve learned since coming to Argentina that many Argentinians associate more with their European roots and not with the whole of Latin America, like most of the other Spanish speaking countries in the Americas do. I’ve learned that now. And many Latinos I’ve met who identify as Latinos from other countries often say Argentinians have a different attitude and think “too highly” of themselves, like they are better than other “lowly Latinos”. I don’t necessarily believe that to be true either, but there is an OBVIOUS identity shift here in Argentina. STILL, Argentinians share the love for football, the same types of music (salsa, cumbia, bachata, etc) and many similar “Latin” culture foods. Up North, we are taught that all Spanish speaking countries in the Americas are “Latin America” and their inhabitants are “Latin Americans”. It’s not derogatory or anything. Inversely, Latinos often call me “gringo” which can and can not be seen as derogatory depending on the tone spoken - but as long as they don’t call me American I’m happy because I’m CANADIAN. 😂 because It’s not the same and our cultures aren’t the same, only share similarities. Canada has more live European roots than EEUU. It’s like if I said that Argentinians and Uruguayans were the same… you’d both get pretty mad about that lol

Hey buddy, nice video! You missed chinatown within Belgrano area, where you can find lots of Asian restaurants, stores, street food and markets. Another two neiberhoods that are becoming trendy are Colegiales and Chacarita. These are a bit more under, when compared to Palermo, or even Belgrano, but lots of innovative cafes and poping up there, and they have a quite interesting art scene as well. Last one, check out Villa Devoto, definately not in the radar for most people, but its worth visiting this residential area with houses from the beginning of the 20s century and a really nice cafe and foodie culture. Enjoy mate!

The delicious empanadas we had delivered to our apartment was a great deal 20 for 11000 pesos. You need to go to the Tigre area for a boat tour. cheers.

The cambio was a life saver - burned through our physical cash quickly lol. Now we are using Western Union. It's sad and even patetic that our beatifull country was screwed up by all the goverments of several decades. This new goverment of today increased the prices 5 times more than 2023 from the basic foods to the transport and home taxes. There is too much places that you can visit if you have enough money. However, some products are more expensive than Europe. I say this because I can travel to Europe and made the comparition. So, I hope that you can stay fine here in Argentina and like said other comments, be carefull with some places like Once/Microcentro and places from outside Capital Federal. I don't think Argentina have "less" crimes....but one thing I very sure is that here the steals are very violent. There is a famous case of a tourist that received 11 stabbings. The tourist finally survived, but if he died in the hospital, maybe the legal acts dosen't said that the died was because of a murder, but was because of other consecuences after the 11 stabbings. Stay safe and enjoy Argentina. Cheers!

Yeah man, it’s sad- my first impression of this country is that it’s beautiful. You’re right - there are approx 1.9 million immigrants living in BA. But it almost might be the best city for nomads, too. Almost all countries are going up in price globally - my country is so expensive now 🇨🇦. Our immigration is ENORMOUS now. Many Canadians are angry about it, too. Our culture has been watered down and cost of living is ridiculous. I understand you. Plus, at the same time travel and working remotely is bigger than ever in history. It’s not just Mexico City, either. It’s almost every major city in the countries with nice weather. Colombia, Thailand, Philippines, Spain, Portugal, etc. Anyway don’t worry, I’m only here for 2 months. But you’re still stuck with the other 1.9 million 😉

This is how traffic works for pedestrians: When cars are turning, either left or right, pedestrians have the right of way! So if a car is turning and you are crossing the street he will let you pass. When the car goes straight crossing a street, he has the right of way and you should wait
