Good job on keeping it simple and straightforward. However, I think you downplayed the security concerns a bit. It’s not big, but there are vulnerabilities out there.

So beautifully explained! And I used the word beautifully instead of clear because not only it makes it crystal clear but it does it in a way which makes you appreciate the beauty of the LVM feature! Thank you for this lesson, it is so much clearer what LVM is.

I thought dev stood for "developer", not "device"! Well, I guess that explains dev/null This is what I get for learning Unix/Linux on the fly.

@Doriandotslash as Ubuntu doesn't release those mini ISO installers anymore, what would you recommend? Just go with Ubuntu Server which doesn't have a GUI by default? I've noticed that even Lubuntu minimal installation includes all the desktop stuff and doesn't play great with some of my old hardware.

for my current project, I've decided to use Debian 12 (which does have a net installer). So far, so good!

In true Linux fashion, a community member on the internet has been more insightful with their explanation than my college professor. Thank you!

I like how detailed you are when doing your demonstration. You're very clear and pedagogical. And you enunciate and pronounce your words clearly without a lot of uhms and ahs, which actually isn't always the case with all youtubers. Great work!

I've been an Arch user because it worked best for gaming on Linux. Now that my focus is less on gaming and more on syadmin and coding work, I have been considering migrating a more stable distro. Rolling release has its uses, mainly using the latest versions of software.

With Wine. It lets you run Windows software in Linux. I used another program called PlayOnLinux to install it.

@@Doriandotslash wow! I never thought wine is that powerful. So how's your experience, is there any lag bug or other issues
@DoriandotslashАй бұрын
It works just fine. The only bug I’ve noticed is that tooltips sometimes get stuck on the screen. Those are the little descriptions that pop up when you hover over a button. But tooltips can be turned off in the Photoshop settings, so I do that and no problems.

I like how Linux installations separate each part. If you're not using Snap or Flatpak, you don't get the same things installed over and over. For example, if you install Audacity and Kdenlive, you will only have 1 instance of ffmpeg on your system.

@DoriandotslashАй бұрын
Those are virtual files. Everything in there is actually in RAM or just a Kernel pointer and not on the disk.

Technically the file capitalisation is because of the file system, but I’m pretty sure that you can install ubuntu to an ntfs partition now

would you be inclined to make a video about how you make animations and edit videos on linux? I've only ever used blender for video editing, but I always think to myself, "there simply has to be a better video editor", and yet every time I looked in the past, I came up mostly empty-handed. Also, I wouldn't have any idea what to use for 2-D animations. Thank you. <3

Why does the narrator keep saying "evolved" and "evolving"? Nothing evolved, it was designed and developed.
