Thanks Karl! I appreciate it bro. I missed BDLL live but watched the replay. I had the exact same problem you did with your install where it errored out at the very end. Redownloaded the ISO and it worked. I wished I was watching the livestream to suggest it :)

Hi Dorian./, Congratulations to you and your wife/partner/S.O. on the birth of your Son, you must be a proud Dad! I was 29 y.o. when my Son squawked his first and all of a sudden that was nearly 34 years ago, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! B-) Well done on the recycled machine, it looks more than usable Reusable/recycled PC parts are not easy for me to come by as they have usually 'hit the bin' before I find out about them or are REALLY outdated machines. For now I am sticking with my dear old Dell mini 9 (a new battery for it is on my Christmas wish list) despite the enforced demise of most mainstream 32 bit O.S. versions, good old MX/antix keeps it going. However, I might try Void Linux on there before inevitably reverting back to MX! A little off topic here I know but as I/we are talking of lightweight machines what is you experience of tiling managers, DWM looks ok but I have not used a tiling manager for any great period of time.

Thanks Bill! Yeah I'm sure time will fly by lol I'm a bit of a hoarder of computers/laptops and their parts. So I managed to get everything from boxes in my basement, and got a nice case and Nvidia card from friends. I tried a couple of tiling DE's but I'm really not a fan. I use my mouse for so many things like video editing, graphics etc so it just makes sense for me to use the mouse for my desktop. Plus, I just get frustrated with tiling managers and then stop using it. Thanks again for the comment Bill!

I'm using Majaro mate on VM , but still dont feel good about linux, too much work to make, getting packages or updating things, i tried to install flash player before i cant, so i had to install cinamon desktop and i found it there, so i dont feel ok with linux trying to convince my self but i am not able to reach that level yet. I am playing around it with VM but i cant feel ok with it

Getting packages is super easy. I hope you're just using the package manager to download software, and you're not downloading things from websites! This is the way you should be installing things, and it's super easy. If you have any questions about installing software, just ask, or check out my video on how to install software. Most distros, like Manjaro, has an update notification in the system tray when you have updates. Again, very easy. As for Flash Player, you really shouldn't use it as it's no longer supported, and is (and always has been) a security risk. Can you tell me why you're trying to install it? Almost every legit website has stopped using Flash by now..

Hadn't realized that the new baby was your first one. That's special being a new father! Cool man. Glad to hear things worked out with your wife, as well (you had mentioned some possible complications last comment I left ya). And with the new position at the job, things are really going good for you. Gonna be awesome having the new hardware for testing and showing on the channel. I think you get more positive results if you test on hardware. That's the route I always go anyways, if I'm testing a distro. You got a lot a new and important things going in your life. Thanks so much! I appreciate the kind words :) And yes, it's our first baby. So it's been a learning experience that a lack of sleep makes a little more difficult lol And yes there were some complications with both mom and baby but it's all good now and everyone is healthy. Thanks again for the nice comment. I'm looking forward to creating more interesting content :)

I bought a new laptop (it's a Compaq) and installed Ubuntu 18.10 on it. Runs pretty fluidly, if I might say. I'm waiting for 19.04 now.

Nice! Any reason why you run the non-LTS version of Ubuntu? I'm guessing you like having the newest package versions?

I was a bit worried about the memory bugs in 18.04 (even though I have 4 gb) and the laptop battery improvements were a key feature for me. I know some people always say to wait on 20.04 but I don't have any patience to stick with Windows 10 till 20.04.

I wish you both well..I have some news..I've dropped systemd but still running Arch and OMG is it fast..no more stop jobs no more start jobs it boots like it was running from RAM..I am now systemd free

Thanks Garth! Glad to hear you're on an Arch adventure :) It's a wonderful distro! I did a video on Void Linux that uses runit instead of systemd and it runs fantastic! Going to try it on hardware soon :)

@@Doriandotslash I'm also using Void lol..So Artix and Void but I really want to build my own Arch systemd free desktop..Void is all over KZbin so I had to try and I do like it..But I don't think I could use it on a daily basis..I remember doing a LFS install and nearly throwing my computer out the window..Eventually after 4 attempts it was on my PC it lasted 30 minutes..I'll never do that again..I'm glad to see you back..I'll be talking about systemd this Wednesday if Steve goes ahead with the stream :-)

@@garth56 The "real men" distros don't have systemd by default: Slackware current, Gentoo, FreeBSD, Void, NuTyX, Devuan/antiX, and a few others. :P :) Cheers
