Nice choice for batteries but a crappy, even dangerous choice for an inverter. First of all , that cheap Chinese made high frequency inverter is not UL-458 safety listed for mobile applications like an RV. Second, high frequency inverters offer a very poor surge capacity and a very short life expectancy when compared to heavy duty low frequency transformer based inverters.

How did you avoid powering the converter from the inverter ? Also, did you use welding cable for cable flexibility?
@igowhereimtowed6839
@igowhereimtowed6839 6 ай бұрын
The converter is plugged into the 120VAC and charges the 12 volt motorhome batteries. The inverter is powered by the 48 volt batteries. The inverter powers the 120VAC. The two battery banks are separate from one another. As for the cables, the battery manufacturer recommended 1 AWG. I however used 2 AWG and crimped on the needed connectors cut to length. Thanks for watching our videos and for your comment. We appreciate your support.

@igowhereimtowed6839 is your converter powered by the inverter ? If yes, then your inverter is backfiring the twin batteries which is not good.
@igowhereimtowed6839
@igowhereimtowed6839 6 ай бұрын
@VideoByPatrick The converter batteries do not power the inverter. Some people will use one group of batteries to power their system. I use to different groups of batteries. That way, I have not created a loop or backfeed. Two separate battery groups for two separate systems.

@83kaszas while putting 4 - 12 volt batteries in series, increases the voltage. It does not also increase the amp hours. Search batteries in series for a complete explanation of series and parallel.
@83kaszas
@83kaszas 6 ай бұрын
Yes but you increase the voltage! To the same level as the 2 server rack bateries you aquired,so it will be a 48v batery with 100 amper hours,right? Now tie that bank to the 2 server rack and you have 15kw instead of 10

Cool Info. The only thing holding me back from the EG4 6000XP that I can see is that it requires at least 100vDC on the solar side. I was hoping it would as low as around 44 to 48 volts. It can accept 48v on the DC battery side, so I don't quite get why they cannot design it to accept 48v on the solar side too.

Nice job. I’m installing three of the same batteries and the 18k in my rig right now. A week after I got the 18k the 6000’s came out. I had to find a bit more ingenuity in my install because it is so much bigger. Almost done. I can see these 6000’s being the new standard on solar installs vs. the victron.

Looks like a really excellent upgrade. Another EG4 6000XP success story it looks like! Very nice, gives you two AC legs on the output, split-phase, and 240VAC, and has all the circuit breakers you need built-in. You went with 16s 51.2V nominal EG4 LL's, those are excellent batteries (also with built-in breakers). You have some redundancy with two of them in parallel. And you have BMS comms connected up. I'm not entirely sure about standing the EG4 LL's up on their ends. Usually the prismatic cells inside have over-pressure vents on the top which can wind up exhausting electrolyte instead of gas if the batteries are stood up like that and a failure happens. Maybe verify with the manufacturer whether that is ok or not. Since you have only one 6000XP connected up you might want to consider wiring a separate 3000W inverter to the battery that you can use in case of emergency if the 6000XP konks out. Something like that can also be quite useful wired to a kitchen outlet with a remote switch to allow additional heavy appliances in the kitchen to be used concurrently. Though of course the 6000XP itself has a lot of capability. Be sure to split any other heavy 120VAC loads evenly between the 6000XP's L1 and L2. As well as keep some of your independent MPPT charge controllers hooked up to the battery (if not already, assuming they can handle a 48V battery system)... again "just in case" the 6000XP konks out. I think you are going to be really happy with that build. There is going to be a massive reduction in heat and power losses with that setup, and a huge improvement in power delivery. -Matt

The high frequency 6000XP is not designed for use in mobile applications because it's not UL-458 listed. And because it lacks and output transformer, there is no galvanic isolation between its DC boost stage and its AC output which makes this inverter less safe when compared to a low frequency, transformer based inverter charger.

That's the best-looking ground mount array I've seen. Kudos. We're too old to climb on the roof to raise and lower panels, so we built a 620-watt liftable solar array mounted on the side of our motorhome. We lift the array to the exact angle needed based on month and latitude to optimize its output. It serves as a nice bedroom window awning too, practically lifting itself with a couple gas struts, and it's easy to clean with a windshield squeegee, standing safely on the ground. We finished the 12v part of our build last January, with the addition of a 560ah LiFePo-4 battery that we built with 8, 280ah prismatic cells. We use a Heltec 330amp BMS, and a 5a active balancer to keep the cells synched up. It cost us less than $1,500 to build this 560ah 12v (7.1Kwh) battery, including the high amp BMS and balancer. We chose these cells rather than a pre-built battery because they fit perfectly under the steps of our MH where our old pair of GC-2 golf cart batteries used to reside, saving 35lbs too. We insulated the battery compartment, cut a 1" hole in our step risers and installed a tiny computer CPU fan to keep this space at close to room temperature, so we don't have to worry about the BMS shutting down charging if they get too cold - or their life reduced from getting too hot. We use an 80A Progressive Dynamics LFP converter/charger, a 1,000w Renogy Inverter, an Epever 50a MPPT charge controller and a Lnex battery monitor. This entire 12v system cost us under $3,500 to build and takes care of all of our basic off-grid needs except for air conditioning and microwave use. By mounting our solar array on the side of our MH, we left the roof free to rack 8, 550W Sungold Power solar panels (4,400 watts) down the length of our MH 15" off our roof, above our AC, vents, etc. The array will be horizontally mounted with the exception of the first 2 panels which will drop to the roof at a slight 9.5-degree angle, so wind doesn't get under them when traveling down the road. We should have enough wattage to make up for not being able to lift them. We won't be using our air conditioners (our biggest energy draw) in the winter, when their production is lowest, so flat mounting shouldn't affect us that much in a practical sense. They will cover the entire roof, providing some nice shade with plenty of cooling air underneath, increasing their output and reducing the heat load on the air conditioners too. We got them for only 51 cents/watt shipped to our door. We're in the middle of this build now, but we're taking our time to get everything in and installed over the winter, as we're old, slow and doing the work ourselves. We bought our aluminum racking material in Somerton (near Yuma), where we're wintering over this year, for under $400. Our solar panels, wiring, breakers and Sungold Power all-in-one 48V, 5,000W, Inverter/100A charge controller/battery charger arrived about a week before Christmas. Our 48v battery bank uses 16, 320ah grade A prismatic cells which only cost us $1,726 from EEL batteries. Our Heltec 200amp 16s BMS just arrived yesterday. Together with our 560ah 12v bank, we will have a total of 23.5 kwh of batteries onboard - kept charged by over 5,000 watts of solar! We removed our old rear 13.5k btu rooftop Dometic AC and put a powered roof vent in its hole. We will be installing an EG4 28.5 seer-2 12k btu mini-split heat pump on the upper rear of our MH with the head unit mounted in the bedroom, blowing down the hall to the front. This second phase will provide 24/7 off-grid air conditioning, supplemental heat from the heat pump and allow occasional usage of our rooftop mounted high-efficiency Furrion AC in the front of our MH to cool things down quickly during peak afternoon hours, as well as give us whole house 120v ac power. We'll soon have total off-grid electrical independence on a budget we can afford, reserving our onboard generator for back-up use only. Take care, we hope to see you down the road!

I tried that on my buddy heater, and it burned up the fan wires and killed it the first day. I would like some long-term follow-up on the fan mod, to see how long yours lasted.
