I didn't use the StarLink Pipe Adapter. I'm too cheap. I used an exhaust pipe connector I bought for under $10 at a hardware store. You can get them in a wide range of sizes. Because I used a scrap length of 1.5" galvanized pipe as my mount, I used a 1.5" to 1.5" connector but there are adapters for a wide range of pipe sizes. I installed the connector on the galvanized pipe using three self-tapping screws and then used a bolt to hold the dish on through two holes I drilled to matched the Dishy retractable buttons, which are easily removed. It is as solid as a rock. The galvanized pipe I attached to an unused hydro pole on my house using U-bolts. StarLink Dishy is currently sitting 20 feet above the ground with no obstructions. Cost me less than $15.

Thanks! This video helped me decide to mount it on top of one of my bird feeders. I ordered a pipe adapter but the V2 dish fits perfectly in the top of the pole. Tried to look them up on HD and Lowes website for reference but could not find the pole feeders I have. Very sturdy, they made it through at least two hurricanes. However it is a 12-15ft pole and I could not reach the modem with the 75FT cable. As a temporary option I am using one 5ft section with the included legs. The part that slides in the other pipe is the perfect size for the legs as well. Weighed down with a couple heavy stone pieces.

Yes that’ll work, but an RV mount is subject to your ability to stabilize the entire RV. I would think a ground mount would be more stable and easier to move around to find the best field of view.
@igowhereimtowed6839
@igowhereimtowed6839 8 ай бұрын
If the stability of your RV is affecting the signal of your starlink system. You have bigger issues to be worried about. As to the field of view. The higher the dish, the easier it is to avoid obstructions. Check out our video "Starlink Trees Yes No Maybe." While we could not avoid all the obstructions from the trees. It made it possible for the system to work 99.5% of the time. Thanks for watching our videos and for your comment.

I heard that you can feed the cable through the pipe adapter. The cable that connects to the satellite dish can bend 90°downward and click into place allowing it to go through the pipe.
@igowhereimtowed6839
@igowhereimtowed6839 2 жыл бұрын
Do not see how that could be possible. Built into the mounts is a key and built into the dish a keyway. The key and keyway serve two purposes. One to keep the dish from turning in the mount. Two help hold the cable plug into the socket. Thanks for watching our video and your comment.

great video I have to figure out a way to modify what you did there, because our portable waste tank hangs off our ladder when we don't need it. so I'm limited to between the side rails of my ladder and the camper itself. I might need to get a bracket welded to my bumper for the tank to live? that would actually be nice since I have to remove the tank to use the ladder. the bed of my truck has no room for it, I have a Big 3000 Watt Honda Inverter generator and a tool box in the bed.

You might investigate putting a mount on your tongue jack. Conduit standoffs work to hold a PVC or Galvanzed tube to the jack shaft, then slide the flagpole into the tube. If water is an issue, you can use a slip-on gasket that seals with pipe clamps.
@igowhereimtowed6839
@igowhereimtowed6839 Жыл бұрын
@chrisyoung5909 Sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately for us we have a motorhome. Which I'm sure you know doesn't have a tongue jack. Thank you for watching our videos and for your comment. Be safe and may we meet around a campfire.

Love it. I have this same pole. Came with my WeBoost. You got yours at harbor freight? I solved the problem with the weak "twist to tighten" mechanism by drilling holes and running a hitch pin through that locks the pole in extension. I know folks have asked how it holds up in wind, I'm curious if you've noticed any loss of signal with swaying in the wind? Does it need to be super stationary? That's the only concern I have about putting mine up on the flagpole.
@theborednerds
@theborednerds 2 жыл бұрын
Also, what do you do with the cable? I coiled the coax for the WeBoost around the pole, so it spirals up the pole when extended, but it doesn't look great when retracted. I'm also thinking about DIYing the pole adapter. Was the kit worth it? Also, great tip with the galvanized pipe reinforcement. Definitely taking mine apart to add this!

Yes I purchased the flagpole from Harbour Freight. So far I have not had to extend all the way up. We are currently in a US Forestry Campground and the pole. Attached to a Tee post on the ground. I do have some blockage from the trees. But the system works with a few drops in signal.

Does it have to be that much higher than the roof? Or can you almost have it as low as the roof and still get a good signal?
@igowhereimtowed6839
@igowhereimtowed6839 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can have it at the lowest position. As long as you have no obstruction. We boondock 98% of the time. So when we are in a area with trees. Then we extend up to clear the trees. Thanks for watching our video and for your comment.

Is it safe to leave the dish on top of the pole while driving as long as you have retracted the pole sufficiently so that the dish is below your RV roofline? That way the wind doesn’t hit it.
@igowhereimtowed6839
@igowhereimtowed6839 2 жыл бұрын
It is not safe. While I believe the dish has been engineered. To withstand what nature can throw at it. Within reason that is. I don't think it could handle it while driving down the road. There has been speculation about a mobile dish. For which we will have to wait for. Thanks for watching our videos and for your comment.

Great. Pipe dimensions? It looks like you've removed the last pole section only. What was the inner/outer diameter of your remaining finished top section, and what size pipe was the galvanized insert? It would be interesting to know the diameters of the lower sections too if you have them, as I don't find it listed anywhere on the Harbor Freight specs. Thanks!

I'll answer my own question here for anybody else interested, as I just went out and got the flag pole kit since writing the above, but am still looking for an insert for whichever top pole section I end up using. 5 total tube sections, from base to top: Base Tube 1: OD 2.326", Tube 2: OD 2.174", Tube 3: OD 2.010", Tube 4: OD 1.816", Tube 5: OD 1.654"

@igowhereimtowed6839

@igowhereimtowed6839

I purchased a shore power access cover from a RV parts store. With the help of the correct size hole saw. Drilled into the side of our rig where we needed to route the cable. We use this same access to route the LP hose for a portable Buddy gas heater. Thank You for watching our video and for your comment. Please subscribe and check out our other StarLink videos.

Working just fine. Currently in a national forest as a camp host. Have ground mounted extended up about 18 feet. Trying to clear the pine trees. While I still have trees blocking the dish to the northeast. Still have speeds over 100mps. With that said we have some signal loss for anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds. There is zero cell service here. So we are able to make and receive calls with WiFi calling. I see a lot of negative reviews from starlink KZbinrs. I guess they do it for click bait. Because starlink is no where near the number of satellites planned. How they can complain about the system/service. That is not completely up and running is unreal. Yes I have had issues but it was the equipment. Sorry for being long winded. But the telescoping flagpole and pipe adapter are working very well. Thanks for watching our video and for your comment.

@igowhereimtowed6839

@Chris With a heat gun or hair dryer, heat up the plastic sleeve. You might want to put on a heavy glove. You are trying to soften the glue of the sleeve. Once you have it soften up twist the sleeve off. Slide it up enough to clear the tube. Then the inner tube can be pulled out.
