Seven is one of the most dangerous pesticides on the market. It will kill anything. A local farmer told me he used seven on something on the farm. It wasn't near my honeybee colonies yet they died from it. Please be very careful using this product.

What power inverter are you running here? What is the amp output?
@natesworld8143 күн бұрын
I'm not sure what inverter it is. As for the amps.... boy, that's a good question. I've never thought about it but it's less than 10 or the fuse would blow. I'll definitely have to check that out this year

How many taps on that pump?

@@natesworld814you should be getting at least 20 inches of vacuum. Major leak somewhere.
@natesworld814Ай бұрын
The only leak I could find was a pinhole. Unfortunately it took me up to the last few days of the very short season to find that. I'm hoping to have it running much better this season

@@natesworld814 I have 4 shurflow pumps and they all run 25 to 26 inches of vac with 80+- on each.
@capt.sparrow34Ай бұрын
Your set up is different from mine, I don't use a main line. I use 3/16 on inclines and 5/16 in flat areas. I run all tubing to a short manifold before the pump.
@johnboerema118Ай бұрын
What kinds of maples are you taping? Some of those look like red maples. How do you connect to laterals to the mainline?
@natesworld814Ай бұрын
I tap all Maples. I do not discriminate. I only run 5/16 laterals and mainlines. I use a Y connector for laterals into the mainline. At the end of my runs, I have 3/4" that I connect with a saddle elbow. I run everything on 5/16 for gravity vacuum. And I have the 3/4 at the ends where the 5/16 is no longer needed, and it should get the sap to the tank faster
@johnboerema118Ай бұрын
Thanks, I am considering during a 500’ mainline system with a 4008 shurflo pump and am looking at options. Not sure if I am going to do 5/16 or 3/4. Everything is 3/16 now. We have no slope in our sugar bush. How many taps are you running on the laterals?
@natesworld814Ай бұрын
@johnboerema118 if you're flat. I would go with 3/4". That should give you enough room for your vacuum to get by the sap. Also, the sap will flow more freely because it won't have the restrictions of the 5/16. Also, if your laterals are flater, you will have much better luck on 5/16 than on 3/16. My laterals have anything from 1 tap to the high 20s. I would less on taps on the high number side. But I would need to move my 5/16 main line. To do that though I would have to run a new wire and the fence is already there.

Thanks for posting these. I'm interested in trying to make a 5/16 gravity system work. I have no power and poor aspects for solar so it would be strictly gravity. Are you still running 50 taps/line? Do you think additional taps would be beneficial? What % slopes are your lines?
@natesworld814Ай бұрын
Research conducted by Cornell back in the 70's showed Natural vacuum worked best with 5/16 at 15% slope with 50 to 100 taps, 10% with 50 to 80 taps and 5% with 50 taps. They needed more than 10 taps before any natural vacuum developed. 3/16 will work with just one tap. Our tests were run at 13% slope where it maxed out capacity at 44 taps so at less slope use less taps, if steeper can take a few more. -Information provided by Stephen Childs
@natesworld814Ай бұрын
I run as much slop as possible. The new system I set up in this video. I'm going to struggle to hold 2%. There is a ton of slope beings that it's on a hill. But I lose it all trying to get trees in the riven. I don't think I have a run with less than 50. Max is probably 70ish. I just put up one that will probably have 30ish. That one worries me a little. I want to put a shurflo on this new run, but it looks like that will be $400, so I might just see how it goes without it
@LukeSawyer-d2lАй бұрын
@@natesworld814 Thank you. I might try a test run of 50 to see how it goes. I'm more worried about too much slope and the sap draining out without filling to create a vacuum.

I have that problem. Maybe worse. They are getting in through the light fixture in my upstairs bedroom bedroom and they are downstairs behind the siding. I spray wasp killer on the kitchen window because they go straight for it once inside. Once they crawl on it they die. Also any kind of soap will kill them quick! Whatever you do , don`t ever block the entrance to the nest or they will chew through the wall to get out!!! YOU DON`T WANT THAT! I HAD TO CALL THE PROS IN FOR THIS ONE!

I had a pest control guy pack the gap with some sort of white sticky powder blocking exit and entrance. The few that remained died off in stages over the next two days. I wasn't home but he said he uses a puffer. Good to see it's a diy except the stuff he used packs and sticks says it's effective for 3 years and not to disturb it. I am not too worried as they were in there for less than a week but my curiosity to look inside is still there.

Will this work for pulling the hub assembly for a wheel bearing replacement?
@natesworld8144 ай бұрын
I'm going to guess no for a few reasons. 1. I don't think you will be able to get it between the hub and the 🤔 the thing the hub goes into. 2. I don't think it will be wide enough to get the puller put on. 3. I don't know where you live, but some of them become 1 with the bearing race, and it may not be nearly strong enough. With that said, I know nothing about what you're working on and might be completely wrong

I did the same thing except one application is enough. The dust is all over the entrance and inside where they have to walk and they carry that on their legs to the nest and in a couple days they are all dead. Patients, patients.

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen an air compressor used. The make bulb dusters specifically for this purpose
I belong to the inside track club, and they keep sending me this belt sander for $22.49 which seems to be a great price. I have everything Ryobi except some sanders which they seem to break easy. Being that I won't use it much, for only small projects. Thank you for your input. 😊

Originally I used a wet vac on reverse with a jerry ridged attachment to get into the crack in the eaves. That was 20 years ago when Seven still had Carbaryl in it! You cannot buy Carbaryl anymore in MA, so I got some in RI. Recently I used a garden duster filled with 5% Carbaryl. It worked very well. No more wasps.

I had what look like hundreds of bees that got under my siding of my home. There were so many under there the siding was bulging out. I didn’t know what to do. I took a shop vac after dark and taped the hose opening right by the entrance. Right before the sun came up, I went out there and flip the shop vac on. It sucks all the bees in the shop vac because they have to go by the hose to go in and out. Right before I shut off the shop vac I sprayed a little bit of wasp killer in the hose before I empty it. Worked like a charm
