Pro driver who has owned an S1 Elise since the early days recommends getting all braking done before corner entrance and getting back in the throttle as you enter. With that approach, I never have a problem with snap oversteer.

A lot of people think an Elise/Exige has “snap oversteer,” and perhaps they do relative to what most people drive-often front-engined and 1000+ lbs heavier. Once you get used to a 2000 lb, mid-engined car, though, its responses are very predictable and controllable at the limit. Tightening a turn with a slight lift of throttle mid-turn is pure joy.

@@nightshifted That does sound heavenly. It’s learning and abusing those little handling quirks that make cars fun to me. I get bored SO fast of cars that handle “like they’re on rails”.

Agreed I've been looking for a decent Elise for awhile near me in NY for 40-50k and I'm about to give up and just buy a Cayman or C6 Corvette instead. Like looking for hen's teeth already...

@Blas4ublasphemy For your price budget. The C6 is way more car and bang for your buck. I have a C6Z. In my opinion it's the best visceral engaging sports car I've owned and budget friendly to maintain.

Luv the Krypton color and I have ran my Persian Blue S240 at Chuckwalla a couple times. The downside is mine is essentially stock with a tune that has @245hp whp. First time I had the track pack set at track height which means it was wearing through the wheel liners. :( (Crappy OEM) I slapped an LSS set on and now way better. But the S240 big brakes and my oem LSD help. The brakes never fade and I can lay down exit power. I need the baffled pan, and to fit my Penskes, get some actual neg camber up front and return.. SUCH A BLAST!

Damn that wire hanging down by the shifter is driving me nuts just looking at it I can't even imagine actually being the driver. Cool cars though and depreciation proof. I once marveled at an Elise I saw up in OR in this color popping around on silver wheels. I think it ended up selling on BaT years later. The shifters are a bit of a pain point on these so I'm not surprised people often swap them out.

I love this car too! btw, the 3 to 2 shift for my Exige S has issues (I have the same shifter as the owner)...possibly the reverse lock-out. Gotta figure that out before next season

My favorite track - and running in the better direction too CW (as opposed to CCW). Far prefer it to buttonwillow. Awesome car - is the gearing long? pretty much everywhere you're in 3rd i'm in 4th on my full stock drivetrain AP2 s2k.

@Zygrene22 күн бұрын
Can't speak to the 987 Cayman at the limit but the Elise/Exige feels like it wants to spin like a top when you lose rear grip. The short wheelbase is definitely a factor
