Played this at UKGE was ok, but didn’t excite me enough to buy it. Might give it another go on BGA. Loved the B-roll in this video, nice work.

It's true, the price point made it such an obvious buy. It's an abstract game for sure, but I do see a tiny semblance of theme here. Your raiders are coming from the ships and the line you form is sort of like the path of pillage they take through this valley and each tile you gain is the loot. And the best thing is that it can be damn near brutally mean if you want it to be. I love doing my best to be a dick and block people from the things they need. If that passive aggressive bullshit isn't Viking, I don't know what is!

@@BoardGameBollocks it's a beast and I know of at least one other person put off enough they never played it. IF you can get it to the table, it's worth the struggle. Playthrough videos can help, but they are also quite a slog. Best option of course is if you can get someone to teach you! I was lucky enough to let someone else struggle with the initial learn and then they taught me. Good luck! Also, thanks for the Looot review. Looks... average.

You don't have to chain your vikings. You can place your viking next to a viking of any colour.

Yes but to score they have to be adjacent to your colour so why would you place them next to another colour?

Chaining your vikings is only important to get castles (and watchtowers, when a chain of two is enough). We played it wrong the first time, and then I was blocked and could not get the resouces I needed to complete my longships and construction sites. I did not need any more castles to score my construction sites, so chaining was of no importance.
