Yes it does use v2 starship, it is an improvement on all aspects… more noticeably on the flaps

If they are successful with no glitches they will be in the lead with the first heavy unit to space with a payload. Will be huge for them. Space X has a ton of stuff already there with its two rockets (falcons) but no super heavy yet so this is the parallel. I wish them well as all space stuff will get cheaper as we go forward with multiple players.

WAAAY behind and WAAAY over budget. Is Bozos trying to be the new NASA ? They are already waaaay behind many including SpaceX. You cannot compare Falcon 9 to New Glenn they are different classes in almost every metric.

Unless someone was planning to build catch towers on the moon and Mars, they were going to have to build Starships with legs at some point. And since a Starship variant is supposed to be what we are going to use for the HLS lunar mission, gotta have legs.

1 rocket that they don’t want to lose on the first try. SpaceX might be on Starship 7 but they’ve only recovered 1 booster and no Starships, and they haven’t carried an actual working payload yet. Blue Origin isn’t trying to fly to Mars, they’re just trying to make a reusable orbital launch vehicle.

its not weird its pressure rams to soften the landing. for less stress on landing meaning its doing the chopstix job. he took what i told him about landing on the moon and added it to every landing he make. thus not only but if they are pressure controlled can also help stability. hes on the Wright path. good job guys

The hype is about a decade old already, and they are hardly competition when SpaceX has been flying and relying orbital rockets since 2015. Those years have supplied Sx with engineering info on rocket engine performance the likes of which you can obtain in no other way. BO has none of that experience or data, and to think they will be flying at anywhere near the cadence of Sx is foolhardy. I hope NG flies. And I hope it lands. And then we’ll see how long it takes BO to rely that vehicle. It won’t happen overnight.

So true. We do not know how long it will take for the rocket to be recycled and ready for the next flight. And we also do not know how long it takes for additional units to be built and ready. How long will it be for New Glenn to flight at least once every three days? That is where Falcon 9 is. I do not know how often Heavy can fly. And the latest information puts a new Starship out the door in around forty days. It is going to be interesting to see how soon BO can come on line.

Blue Origin has a great paint shop, company works on the principle that if it looks good it must be good. If it looks bad it's impossible to explain why it failed, but if it looks good you have a chance.

It's not obvious that SpaceX is overwhelming the leading launch company on the planet. Actually, it's a bit creepy. I'm beginning to understand why people say Elon is leading a cult.

Here's a quick recap: * SpaceX won't be able to successfully land Falcon9 - Disproved! * SpaceX Falcon9 rocket aren't reliable (after 2 explosions; 1 on the pad; 1 carrying payload to ISS) - Disproved! (F9 is now the most reliable and often launched rocket system in history). * SpaceX won't be able to reuse Falcon9/Heavy and won't be able to compete with established players - Disproved! (ULA talking about potentially selling its business if it can find a buyer).... * SpaceX Starship won't be able to catch it's first stage - Disproved! * SpaceX Starship won't be able to fully & rapidly reuse its giant rocket - almost Disproved! (Coming soon) * SpaceX Starship won't be able to pull-off orbital refueling to send Starship beyond LEO economically - Coming Soon! Believing in companies that (for the most part) play it safe, don't innovate or take risks (or in the case of BO, half-halfheartedly copy SpaceX after sniping at them and chest-beating from the sidelines) are not going to pull ahead in this NewSpace race!

I wish Bezos well but I still would not bet real money that NG-1 actually performs. Besides, look at BE-4. Now compare it to the raptor family of engines. BE-4 looks very like Raptor 1. Even Raptor 2 is a better design than BE-4. Then compare BE-4 with Raptor 3. No contest! I'm no Musk fanboy but just now there is SpaceX and everybody else. So far Bezos and BO are no competition for SpaceX. That's not being a fanboy; that's just stating facts!

All this is great, so long as Musk stays focused on his business, stays away from TRUMP, and doesn't mess with the government. Why can't they just land it next to the launch pad or in the same area so they can pick it up, service it, and get it ready to go again. Someday, they can pick it up, and put it back on the launch Tower if they need to reuse it rapidly.
