I have had toy poodles my whole life. I got my first one at 10 years old. They are not frou frou dogs. Every poodle has the same characteristics no matter the size. Smart as a whip and easy to train. My 8 week old puppy climbed over a 4 foot gate to get to my bedroom. She was in the kitchen the first night. I didn’t want to start off with her sleeping with me. Fail. She woke me up whining next to my bed. She slept next to my stomach for the next 16 years. I like toys. Yes they can be yappy dogs but not as bad as a chihuahua. Not dog aggressive. Just friendly but wary of strangers. Fetch, swim, anything outside. They may be cut very oddly for shows. But mine are cut just like your standard is cut. I call it the puppy cut. I love poodles. I’m searching for my next black female toy. I just like female and black ones. My poodles are always socialized early with dogs, cats and people. Bailey, the gate climber, went everywhere with me. She loved going anywhere in my Mustang convertible. If you can’t afford the grooming, every 6-8 weeks, please don’t get a poodle. 🐩 I’m not a show dog person so I agree. Bailey had one litter. I kept one male. He was stubborn and a boy. Max had a crate and I took him to obedient school because he would not listen. He was not as smart as Bailey. He would not stay. He was goofy. He would move towards me without my telling him to. The trainer said he was just not very smart and I could force him and break his spirit or let him know everything but stay. So, Max was Max. He finally got stay a few months later by imitating Bailey. I tried my best but he was just different from my female poodles, who were easy peasy to train. I don’t know why. Hair goes everywhere when you try to groom yourself. You must brush. I use a slicker brush on the ears, tail, tummy and head neck area. Prey drive. It’s a thing because they were bred to hunt and will chase small animal creatures. Bailey loved chasing sand crabs at the beach. I never did dog agility but they’d excel at it. Again, Max did destroy shoes and other things of mine as a puppy. But that’s expected. They are not Paris Hilton purse dogs. I love them too.

My poodle's barking is a problem. She barks at every tiny noise outside, from someone coughing or hammering, to a truck coming down the hill, and mainly to the barking of the dogs across the street, and passing deer or people. Deer are always passing and it is aggravating. I have to keep the door to the entry closed to reduce her excitement. If someone comes to the door!!! she goes absolutely bonkers. And she's a standard. I didn't expect or want that. With all of her problems, dietary and training-wise, it's been a struggle to keep her. I have tried to give her away a few times, but it appears I'm stuck with her. I chose the WRONG DOG.

I get dog hair building up in the corners of my floor. Not on the furniture, but it still comes out and turns into dust bunnies, which accumulate alarmingly fast.

Mine was not easy to train. Took months to get her house trained, and she's two now and I'm still working on the "down" command. I took her to puppy classes and it was a disaster. She was over excited and far too interested in the other dogs in the room to do any of the activities, and she was the only one, it was very embarrassing and I took her out of class. It hurt to see other dogs sitting on command when mine was jut going nuts. She is a runt I think, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I was really excitied to try this look. I purchased all the same products she said she used. However, they wouldn't blend, look so much greasier than hers (hers look very matte) and was impossible to achieve even a reasonable look. So disappointed. I have tried it twice so far.

We had a number of door bell solicitors appear at our door. I always answered with Tucker alongside. I turned him out one time after warning them. No worries about protection, this hound would roam the house and check on everyone, when confident all was good, he would go to bed and sleep until the next round.

Our first Standard was so amazing. Tucker. When anyone new visited, Tucker would sit by us and stare at them, watch with a critical eye of the new people in our space. His stare made some uncomfortable, which was interesting.

Once, I bought Head and shoulders and I ended up using it to wash my bath tub 😅😂😂😂

I have a 6 year old boy now. I love my silver beautiful girl almost a year ago. She had just turned 15 and never was sick a day in her life! Her mother lived to be 17.5. I miss her so much.

They are great with young children despite their being large. Mine guarded my grandson from the the time he was a young toddler

And if you have a swimming pool of the olympic design, kittens will swim, and eventually swim very fast. Every bit as good as that dog. You must start cats out young to do this and be CONSISTENT.

Go find an abandoned kitten so this dog will have a cat buddy for life.
