Very nice Demo, I have a 703 in prestige condition (mint) and have to say these are very nice little studio recording amplifiers. I recommend to have them upgraded on being grounded. And three prong plug. These have great vintage tone. And the appearance it's self has the look of great nostalgia.

I used to work at Pye when these were made. When they were launched at a major radio show in London they had a problem where a transistor failed after about an hour. While they were demonstrating the unit to the public at the front of the stand I was round the back with other apprentices soldering in new transistors for the next demo.

A five second google search would have told this man this amp is a 1957 model and not 1960, and that's why the original speaker also is from 1957... duh. Also, some caps (like Ajax blue Molded) stand the test of time much better than others, and may not be replaced like he's doing here.

I was searching demo about 1966 fender super reverb and when I've heard the clean tone I said "oh yeah this demo will be something else." Then the foxey lady came.
@daspacechoechechoz90283 жыл бұрын
The shure sm-58 vocal mic thrown in front really showcases how good a 65 Fender Super Reverb can sound, even when recorded poorly. The harsh ugly pops and clicks from you overloading your audio interface (which is probably set up even worse)...is...just as fun.

Cool. I still have mine, fully operational, bought back in 1965 with paper route savings. These days, I usually prefer other amps, but hey, it was my first amp, so I'm keeping it! lol And besides, it's always handy for some unique recording tones at the very least. I guess the vintage spring reverb wasn't working on this one, though. Too bad.

I read through the comments first, and I respect the opinions of other ampophiles (if that's not already a word, then I just coined it), but I love this man's no-nonsense approach, and I'd bet good money that he came to it through years of working on amps on the bench, just as he's doing here.

Hi Mr. Michael Rubano, how are you? My name is Cesar Augusto De Cesaro, I live in Passo Fundo, state of Rio Grande Do Sul, in southern Brazil. I saw your video and decided to take the opportunity to ask if you have the wiring diagram for this device. What I have is the model 1006/360 but it seems to be the same as what you show in the video. Would it be possible for you to help me with the electrical diagram, as I need to restore a device equal to Mr. My email is: [email protected] Thank you for your attention.

As a guitarist, thank you for testing those components before replacing them. Does ANYone make a 6v6 other than JJ? Does this Strat player have any BASS running on this amp? It sounds awful ... just flat-toned and ratty sounding. All the others I have heard sound fabulous. What's up?

I am so glad I didn't see this video before buying my 1962 Gibson ga20t. the recording here is not good. my amp sounds sooooo much better that that is the only answer. even sicker when I play my strat through it and add a tube screamer. instant 60's Clapton tone. if you can buy one of these I highly recommend it. thanks for the video anyway, I thumbed you up for good intentions.

My Foxy Lady unit (which internally is a Mosrite Fuzzrite circuit btw) sounds nothing like this one here. Well, maybe it’s because they’ve put the mic on the wooden frame of the amp instead on the speaker 😂 (???)

If this unit was made by PYE in England for CBS, obviously taking the power supply voltage and line frequency into account as they built this, then the very fact that it was built in England is the guarantee of quality that would not be so if this were made by CBS instead. Thus the player should by rights carry ONLY the British PYE trademark and not be stigmatised by the trademark of an inferior company(CBS). No, I'm not English, I'm Australian but I know that British companies built top quality gear, much like Australia did in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
@MrDuncl2 жыл бұрын
Interestingly the U.K. version, shown in RadioMuseum still mentions CBS on the label as they held at least one patent which the design used.

I live in Cambridge UK and remember this model so well.My father worked at Pye and a friend, Les Coe, was in charge of the model shop where the cabinet was designed and produced.I think it retailed for around 61 guineas, a fortune at the time and replaced the legendary Black Box record player, having gone through 4 versions in 11 years from 1953.As a 14 year old, I would have given anything to have owned such a prize item.I recall Les telling me that they were having horrendous problems keeping the veneers from lifting on the lid, as it wanted to straighten out !.I do not remember what the final fix was.I have never seen one with a Garrard turntable, all the UK ones had a BSR UA16 painted in a unique mushroom colour and the pick-up cartridge was unique , with a cantilever ' butterfly ' spring loaded cartridge, carrying a ' push-and-turn ' double styli through the middle, with double stereo or stereo/78 as an option.There were 2 stands available, the common one was in ' antique cabriole leg style' that was out of kilter with the radical stylng.

this has got to be noise from the recording rig , it all goes to crap when they switch off vocal mic's to the amp mic. The Super reverbs are pretty sweet amps and there is no way it sounded like that in the room , if it did these guys are completely deaf.
