This video guide is awesome! I've been looking up about brush painting models and it has been slow going finding information as airbrushing dominates now. I've found plenty of good tips here and there but only a few so far that really bring everything together like your video. Thank a million!

On the humbrol video they say to apply more than one coat i use the humbrol and dont have any issues but ill definitely give the vallejo as im a big fan of thier paints

Tbh I haven't seen that video. But thank you for the info. I know that sometimes the more you apply the better results.. And it also depends on the decal.

This is the comparison I've been looking for, I'll pick the Tamiya kit. BTW, it is not "Hasewayga", it is "Hasegawa", pronounced "Hasegah-wah', an not "Italier" but "Italeri", pronounced "Italeh-ree".

The Imai and the Aoshima are basically the same model. The Gunze fits really bad, the Hasegawa is mediocre. The best two are the Revell and the Tamiya. Tamiya takes the win for me. I have built them all.

Very good review of this Tamiya kit. I have previously done a Tamiya kit of a German tank, which I really liked. These rubber bands look good, I prefer them to sticking rubber bands together, which gave me a bad experience (was an Italeri kit).

I’ve just got my first kit and have almost finished building my tank But I want to paint the separate sections and wheels first before finishing assembly Do I NEED a primer? Or can I give it an undercoat of an acrylic white or black?

You can do that... But what a primer does is adhere to the plastic... As long as the serface isn't greasy you should be fine. Give it a go over with sandpaper first.. Some times I just use n areasol can of back or white (the cheapest I find on Ebay) the chemicals bite into the plastic to make a bond.

Secondly, as its your first model. I wouldn't worry too much. Personally I aways undercoat in black, unless I want to do some thing special... But black gives a natural shadow and you can build upon

Great video! I have been looking at various Beetle kits to build--and I wanted a kit with an engine to display. I have a good price on the Tamia so I'll go with that one!

Thank you chuckles, engine is better but not on display. If I remember the headliner and interior is better on the revell. So it really depends on how you want to finish the model. Ideally you would want to kit bash the both.

Hello mr grunteld.i build an m1a2 in 2020 and the fit was awesome. And there were no flesh or ejector sinkmarks.and the build was straight forward.and i put him immediatlly on display. i highly recommend this kit to other fellow modellmates.with sticky greetings.your friend in sprues.christian

Thanks for this video. It's incredibly helpful. I think the "nub" on top of the Hasegawa model is due to the fact that they also make this same beetle model as a German "Polizei" police car which has a single light on top. The nub is probably so the builder can properly center the light on the roof.

Yeah this the first Leopard 1 tank. It says in the instructions about the Leopard 1 tank being olive drab. I would use Tamiya TS-5 Olive Drab for this model.

Use bigger brush for painting large pieces. Otherwise you'll end up with brush strokes you cant get rid of...

Thanks for the preview. In the US, Ollie's Bargain Outlet (discount store) has a bunch of these at seemingly all of their stores (at least in four stores I've seen in Virginia and Florida). I just picked one up for $13. I was tempted to buy them all. The kit moldings look excellent, especially for molds cut in 1956. I wonder how the modern decals will deal with the corrugated Aluminium.

Tbh the air brush is a recent thing for me. When I was growing up I would always brush paint. Maybe the last 10 to 15 years when the price has come down. It's definitely a learning process. I think for older eras.. Ww2 etc.. Brush painting is easy as they would paint in the field. For the modern era they have a cleaner factory finish. I know its possible to get a great finish with a brush but I don't have that talent.

Do you know what.. Go with that. You can always go resin on the wheels.. I just don't have the talent to paint figure.. Its something I want to work on.. But I know I can do a decent vehicle... I don't want to spoil it with a rubbish figure.

I picked the kit up recently. I was doing a bit of research and this kit was originally meant to be for an artic expedition, hence the figures, dogs and sled. They swapped out the decals and rejigged the kit to depict domestic airline builds. Apparently the kit the original decals is a real collectors item.
