Why bugout is always into the woods...is it wise. You will be at the mercy of the elements unless you already have an offgrid cabin.

As a Floridian who has burned many oak logs and stumps. They do burn nice and hot and will burn for a decent amount of time for their size. Oak is pretty dense and heavy but is a lighter colored wood. Compared to cypress for example. Oaks pines and cypress endlessly down here.

Stupid question but the faraday bag is just a better emp bag? Never had to buy one so im just making sure. I want tp protect a few w electronics from a emp . I have a old vcr( actually two)that use to watch old hime movies on and wanted the protection. Oh...im.assuming the bags would protect vhs tapes. This may be the most important thing to know for preppers. Buy some activated charcoal and know what ground up plant material you can use and find it and have it ready. Also so it helps to add some sand and small gravel to get out the bigger particles. Using much larger containers for more permanent emergencies is a good idea, as well as knowing the best construction of barrels and their piping. Then you have a water filter for many hundreds if not thousands of gallons for pennies on the dollar compared to commercial tabletop filters, which you have to constantly replace expensive filters with. I would always boil the water over a wood fire after filtering.

The basic gear is better than not having anything at all. Some water 💦 some matches 🔥 Some batteries🔋🔋 Some soup cans 🍲 A flashlight 🔦 Tarp or shower curtain 🚿 A First aid kit⛑️ Some TP 🚽 Even a bucket 🪣 to carry it all in is better than fighting the masses at the last moment. Being prepared is always worth a peace of mind. 😊

I like to place my tender bundle on a rock, a piece of wood or on the bare ground...then push the ferro rod into the tender bundle and let the end of the rod rest on the stationary object/ground below....then scrape my knife or striker straight down the length of the 'now' stationary rod...and with that setup, I can scrape the rod quickly several times if need-be to get the fire going quickly...works so much better for me than the method shown here..I never have a problem with the tender bundle being messed up either....works best by far for me.

With a faraday bag a smartphone an external storage device and a decent small solar charger you can access that info digitally forever. I have most of those books on kindle as well as some other more explosive reading in pdf files along with a few maps all saved on a 2T external storage device that’s smaller than my phone. I feel like that’s a better option than actuall literature in book form. Can carry it all with u taking up about 8oz of weight n an area smaller than a pencil box. I even have tv shows n movies for entertainment purposes. I actually have most of the info stored in my phone already and backed up on the external storage device.

Couldn’t imagine trying to do this to yourself. Bloody n bleeding out. Winged n possibly under suppressive fire. Need to implement something like this in to training.
