A lot of gamers might laugh at the idea, but I love the suggestion that large chunks of VERMIS are just long stretches of desolate landscapes the player simply wanders through, like Bruno Ganz in NOSFERATU. No allies to befriend, no enemies to fight, not even any riddles to solve. Just an oppressive, dreary atmosphere of loneliness and abandonment.
@reyesraine Жыл бұрын
@@TheBermudaMan Not to mention any enemies you do stumble across either aren't human or "were" human (either undead like the bones lot or more like the gangly insect knight thing), and any "allies" you stumble across are dead, dying or not in their right minds at all. Which I mean, fair enough, if they were, they probably would try to attack us anyway since a lot of the assumed "player characters" tend to be Not Great People(TM) from their flavour text and the Evil/Good metres par like maybe Lost Old Glory, Princess' Nail and Infant Seeker. (I haven't read the book so I only know as much information as the like two youtube videos who went through it)
@TheBermudaMan Жыл бұрын
@@reyesraine I'm in the same boat. I wish I could get my hands on a copy, but it's fetching up ludicrous prices that are probably only going to get higher. Nonetheless, I like how this imaginary game is taking on a slightly William Hope Hodgson-esque vibe. (If you don't know who that is, you need to find out, pronto!) I doubt it's intentional, but it's always fun to watch an "urban legend" slowly evolve into something beyond a mere creepypasta gag.
@reyesraine Жыл бұрын
@@TheBermudaMan I'll definitely have to check out Hodgson's work, also I'm surprised you're even seeing other places selling this book, all I've been able to find is the Hollow Press sight and articles on brain anatomy haha,

I haven't been contacted, and If I were them, I might be conflicted about the direction and choice a stranger decided to expand on my work without permission. These songs are more experimental than anything. They're made for fun, to learn, and don't stay true to the technological limitations of the time, nor do I feel they fully encapsulate the grimdark vibe Plastiboo captured. For now I am happy to be peddling my craft in the dark and obscure recesses of the internet.

It's called immersion, my guy. It's like an ARG; lost media is a really popular concept, and yes the game doesn't exist, but it's fun to keep the aesthetic of lost media and trust that most people aren't gullible enough or know enough about the subject to understand that it isn't real.
